Trey Hendrickson, the Cincinnati Bengals' star defensive end, is in the middle of a contract standoff. On August 17, 2025, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport reported that the Bengals are now listening to trade offers for him.
Talks over a new deal have stalled, and both sides are at an 'impasse.' Hendrickson has been part of the Bengals' defence since 2021, but if no extension is agreed, the team may move him.
Trey Hendrickson trade interest grows as Bengals contract talks stall
Contract negotiations between Trey Hendrickson and the Bengals have gone nowhere late. Though the Bengals have not met his requirements, the thirty-year-old yearns for more guaranteed money.
Returning during Cincinnati's training camp, Hendrickson has not practiced but has attended only meetings.
A "hold-in" is when a player arrives but delays playing until discussions advance.
According to NFL insiders, teams such as the Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, and Indianapolis Colts have already shown interest in trading for him.
Ian Rapoport said any deal would be 'expensive,' likely involving a young player and a future draft pick. The Bengals had even allowed Hendrickson to look for trade options back in March, though no move was made then.

Cleveland Browns Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts linked to Trey Hendrickson trade pursuit
Trey Hendrickson has been one of the league's best pass rushers. With 17.5 sacks last year, the most in the NFL, he has been selected for the Pro Bowl four times. With 70.5 sacks collected over the last five years, he has shown his worth as a game-changer.
Hendrickson is, however, entering the last year of his contract, valued at around $16 million in 2025. He seeks a longer agreement with assured monetary compensation.
The Bengals have already, however, spent enormous sums on quarterback Joe Burrow ($275 million), wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase ($161 million), and wide receiver Tee Higgins ($115 million). That makes it more difficult for the group to meet Trey Hendrickson's needs.
The Bengals have to choose right now whether to trade their best pass rusher or work on a fresh agreement before the start of the 2025 NFL season.

Dewald Brevis contract controversy: Former CSK players slams R Ashwin

Dewald Brevis and R Ashwin for CSK in the 2025 campaign (Images via Getty Images) Former Chennai Super Kings batter Anirudha Srikkanth has criticised R Ashwin for publicly discussing teammate Dewald Brevis' contract on his YouTube channel, calling it an avoidable move from a current player. 'This has come right after Ashwin, on his YouTube channel, spoke about his contract. Which I feel is, first of all, very, very wrong. Being a current player, being in the same team, talking about another player's contract - even though it might have been in a different context - this is the problem it can lead to,' Anirudha said on the Cheeky Cheeka YouTube channel. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'You never talk about another person's contract, first of all. And because of that, CSK have strongly put out a statement. All the fans have been given that ease, stating: don't worry at all, for the next two years this player is only for us,' he added. The row began when Ashwin suggested that CSK were willing to pay 'extra' to sign Brevis in IPL 2025. The comments sparked speculation about the legality of the move, and led to the franchise releasing a clarification. Responding to the backlash, the former India spinner clarified that his remarks were never about finances. 'My intent in the old video was to talk about Brevis' batting, not about his IPL signing amount,' Ashwin explained. 'We have to understand that every player who plays in the IPL has a contract with the franchise and the tournament. If there is anything wrong, it won't be ratified. My point was about his batting, not money. ' Poll Do you think R Ashwin's comments about Dewald Brevis' contract were inappropriate? Yes, absolutely No, it was just a discussion He also underlined the importance of addressing such controversies quickly in the current media landscape. 'In today's time, there is a need to clarify the right things as well. No mistake has been made by the franchise, the player or the governing body,' Ashwin said. While Ashwin moved to set the record straight, Anirudha's sharp criticism offers a reminder as to how sensitive matters like contract discussions are and that him speaking up about it while being a current teammate was far from ideal. First ever! Chelsea escape, Crystal Palace fall victim as Premier League implements new VAR change

The VAR check saw Eberechi Eze's goal for Crystal Palace disallowed (Photo by) For the first time ever in the Premier League , fans inside Stamford Bridge on Sunday heard referee Darren England announce the outcome of a VAR review directly to the crowd. The new in-stadium communication system, introduced this season, was used during Chelsea's goalless draw with Crystal Palace. The incident came midway through the first half when Eberechi Eze appeared to have given Palace the lead. The midfielder struck a powerful free-kick from the edge of the box, beating Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and sparking celebrations among the visitors. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! However, those celebrations were short-lived. VAR advised referee England to review the goal on the pitch-side monitor. Initially, it seemed the strike had been disallowed because Palace defender Marc Guehi was judged to have pushed Chelsea's Moises Caicedo in the wall. But following the review, the official addressed the stadium with the official explanation. His announcement went: "After review, away number six is less than one metre away from the wall as the shot is taken. Therefore, it's an indirect free kick and a disallowed goal." The message also appeared on the big screen, confirming that Guehi's positioning was the infringement that led to the goal being ruled out. The Premier League Match Centre later provided further clarification, emphasising that the decision was based solely on Guehi's distance from the wall when the free-kick was struck. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Europe Travel Hack That Saves You Hundreds on Trips! Yes, definitely No, it complicates things Despite the controversy, neither side managed to break the deadlock, and the game finished 0-0. It was only the second goalless draw of the season, following Aston Villa's stalemate with Newcastle United. For many inside Stamford Bridge, the bigger talking point was the historic first use of a referee's VAR announcement in the Premier League, marking a change in how decisions are communicated to players and supporters.
