Alison, who has previously steered shows like Great British Bake Off, is no stranger to sharing her personal stories. She boldly discussed her significant weight loss journey, dropping an impressive 11 stone.
Alison once opened up about tipping the scales at 28 stone, leading her to get a gastric band as per Birmingham Mail's report. However, the procedure wasn't successful for the Brummie presenter, reports the Mirror.

"It's actually quite a difficult thing. It just didn't work for me. I didn't like the feeling of it. You still feel hungry but you can't eat," she shared.
Alison, who was spurred on to lose weight after a heart-to-heart with her mother before she passed away in 2020, has opened up about her health scare.
"Mum said to me: 'If you can, sort out your weight, Alison,' and that really set it in my head. My mum had type 2 diabetes and she was worried for me, so when I then found out that I was pre-diabetic, that was frightening," Alison shared with Good Housekeeping.
She pinpointed two particular culprits that she eliminated from her diet which led to significant weight loss results: fatty food and sweets. "I thought, I have to be an adult about this," she confessed.
Having shed a staggering 11 stone, Alison proudly announced she's no longer pre-diabetic. Her success is attributed to a combination of dietary management, regular sessions with a personal trainer twice a week, and home workouts that include walking, stretching, and weight training.
While health was her primary motivation, Alison also recounted an "embarrassing" incident on a flight when she was at her largest, a memory she shared on This Morning, noting such situations are now firmly in the past thanks to her weight loss.
TV presenter Alison Hammond opened up about her personal weight struggles on air, recounting a particularly embarrassing moment: "I was nearly 28 stone I'll be honest with you and that is morbidly obese. And I used to buy an extra seat because I didn't want to put anyone in a situation where I was touching them...I was made to feel uncomfortable on one occasion when I was so close to someone's seat and they asked to move but they ended up moving me into first class," she shared.
"It was embarrassing the whole thing and from that moment I just started buying two seats. I don't do it anymore because I've lost a bit of timber but not everyone can afford to do that."
The candid revelation came whilst Alison chatted with Dermot O'Leary and guests Tom Swarbrick and Gyles Brandreth on the show, where she also expressed that her main incentive for shedding pounds was to improve her health.
Highlighting her incredible journey, Alison affirmed to the viewers: "I was in a situation where I was morbidly obese. I had to lose weight because I was dying, I really was dying," and confidently disclosed her current weight: "People will still say I'm big but now I'm 17 stone rather than 28 stone and I'm comfortable with telling you my weight."
Alison opened up to Good Housekeeping about her decision to steer clear of the increasingly popular weight loss injections, saying, "I think that, for people who need to use them, they're a good thing. But for me, as soon as I hear any scare story, I get frightened. So I haven't wanted to use them, but that's not to say I wouldn't in the future, and I certainly wouldn't look down on anyone who did."

Wynne Evans issues update and admits he's 'a bit smug' The Welsh TV and radio star made the announcement on Instagram weeks after confirming he would not be returning to his BBC show Wynne Evans has announced he is engaged in a post to fans on his Instagram (Image: Western Mail ) Wynne Evans has announced he is engaged in a post to fans on his Instagram. The Strictly contestant and opera singer, 53, proposed to his girlfriend Liz Brookes last weekend during a romantic getaway to Marrakesh in Morocco. Announcing the news to his 92,400 followers on Instagram, Evans joked his partner had "excellent taste in men" and admitted he was feeling "a tiny bit smug" after popping the question. He said: "Big news… I got engaged! "This weekend in Morocco, somewhere between the couscous, the camels, and me limping around the souks like a man with no spatial awareness, I proposed to Liz — and she said yes! (No take-backs, I've checked.) "She's clever, she's kind, she's got excellent taste in men. Absolutely no idea how I pulled that off, but here we are. "Feeling very lucky, very happy, and just a tiny bit smug." The opera singer confirmed the BBC would not be renewing his contract, saying at the time: "It breaks my heart to say the BBC has decided not to renew my contract so I won't be returning to my radio show. I'm gutted." Evans maintains that his remark was a nickname for his Strictly co-star Jamie Borthwick, and not a derogatory or sexual term used towards professional dancer Janette Manrara. Liz Brookes, Evans' now-fiancée, is a business owner from Cardiff. Her business is Grapevine Event Management which organises corporate events across Wales. BBC Antiques Roadshow guest left speechless as 'treasure' kept in spare bedroom given top value
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info An Antiques Roadshow expert couldn't hide her exhilaration after examining an "extraordinary" item that's kept in her family's spare bedroom. Kay was initially taken aback by the historical significance of the item, revealing: "Sheltering from a passing shower, and sheltering with an object which is, I feel almost radioactive with power. "It's a very interesting phenomenon to be this close to something that is really quite important. I'm recognising, immediately, the personal standard of Oliver Cromwell. "It's a name we all know but let's just put him into his place in history, he was one of the signatories to the death warrant for instance to Charles I. Very much involved with the regicide, killing of the king and then he became in 1653 what was known as the Lord Protector of England. "It was after the Civil War and he ran the country essentially from 1653 to 1658 and that is his importance in English history and why this object has such resonance." The owner of the historical piece then shared its background: "It was in a collection about seven years ago. My father actually bought the collection of militaria. (Image: BBC) "We now own it as a family, it's actually kept in one of our spare rooms and, as you say, it's one of those objects that make you tingle." Kay agreed: "It does make you tingle, because this is the standard that was part of the funeral procession of Cromwell's on November 23, 1658, and this was extraordinary. "Here was the non king being revered really as a king with a royal crown. It is an extraordinary image that we have here which was totally against everything that he stood for." She revealed the item's dramatic history, explaining it had been "stolen from the hearse by a young boy that was in the funeral crowd", with its inscription corroborating the tale. "Snatched from the funeral hearse! At that moment too, it's just brilliant," Kay enthused. The guest proudly mentioned: "My whole family's been into history for generations and my maternal grandparents are actually founding members of The Sealed Knot, the re-enactment society for the Civil War." To which Kay responded: "Which is amazing, what a coincidence! It was meant to end up with you." (Image: BBC) The guest then expressed a deep connection to the artefact: "Absolutely, I believe so. Because we're the kind of people who really want to look after it and preserve it and make sure it's seen by everyone it should be seen by for generations, I guess. "It's a real treasure, it's a pleasure to own." Kay praised the item's condition, noting it had been "beautifully restored" but emphasised the importance of proper care. The expert humorously suggested: "It does and however great your spare room is and I'm sure it has almost museum like qualities, I do think, even if it went on loan somewhere, I think it deserves to be looked after." The expert was visibly challenged by a unique item's worth, noting: "And as far as value's concerned, this is about the trickiest thing I've ever had to value. "It is certain to fetch £25,000 but how much more would it go?" Overwhelmed by the valuation, the guest stood there astonished, while the valuer Kay expressed her elation: "It's going to take me a little while to come down from this. "It'll take a couple of bars of chocolate and a cup of tea but this has been a really special moment with a really extraordinary object, don't you agree?" Antiques Roadshow is available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

'I was as famous as Zoe Ball and Sara Cox but then I was cut out of fame for no reason'
Former Top of Pops host and huge 90s presenter Sarah Cawood has a very different life 20 years on after 'TV gave up on here' One of the biggest TV hosts of the 90' s Sarah Cawood was one of the key Top of The Pops presenters as she rose to fame but 20 years after her big break her life looks very different. The former presenter got her first big break in the '90s working on kids TV for Nickelodeon and two years later she landed herself a job presenting Channel 4's The Girlie Show alongside Sara Cox. The show ran for two series and followed a magazine format, floating from features to interviews to live music and stunts. The show took the later 'post-pub' slot of 11pm on a Friday and was branded as being more edgy than its rivals and tried to cash in on the 'ladette' that swept through the decade. She then came aboard the revamped Live and Kicking programme for its final two years on the air. It was then she landed her biggest role on Top of The Pops. After her spell finished she would go on to present various mini-series and one offs including co-commentating the Eurovision semi-finals in 2007, 2009 and 2010. But it was around that time that many of the big presenting gigs dried up with Cawood joining the team for Heart East Anglia's breakfast show for a year in 2014 before leaving to focus on looking after her children. Earlier this year the star shared her health battle on social media after raising concerns about her breast cancer returning. She was initially diagnosed in 2022, received successful treatment and was given the all-clear. But posting to her fans she revealed the nerves of it coming back never left. In a candid Instagram post, she wrote: "This is the reality of anyone who has had any kind of cancer. I never struggled with health anxiety before but post-breast cancer it's all-consuming and it wears me out a bit tbh. "I have been feeling tired since the new year began and although it's probably just life-ing, there's always a niggling worry that it's back. "All I can do is carry on doing healthy things, moving my body, practising mindfulness and living each day with gratitude that I got to breathe again this morning. "So on we go! Batting away those intrusive thoughts and getting on with it. To anyone either going through a cancer diagnosis or anyone who has recovered from cancer and feels like this: I've got you, and my inbox is always open. "And remember, anything that doesn't feel right: get it checked out. Early detection is key." In her Instagram, she also shared with fans how she's made peace with being "unsuccessful" on TV. In another post, she added: "Do I miss telly? I miss the money! And yes, sometimes I wonder what went wrong, but I'm here now so I'm going to make the most of it, however, that looks
