Wynne Evans has announced he is engaged in a post to fans on his Instagram. The Strictly contestant and opera singer, 53, proposed to his girlfriend Liz Brookes last weekend during a romantic getaway to Marrakesh in Morocco.
Announcing the news to his 92,400 followers on Instagram, Evans joked his partner had "excellent taste in men" and admitted he was feeling "a tiny bit smug" after popping the question. He said: "Big news… I got engaged!
"This weekend in Morocco, somewhere between the couscous, the camels, and me limping around the souks like a man with no spatial awareness, I proposed to Liz — and she said yes! (No take-backs, I've checked.)
"She's clever, she's kind, she's got excellent taste in men. Absolutely no idea how I pulled that off, but here we are.
"Feeling very lucky, very happy, and just a tiny bit smug."

It comes following a turbulent few months for Evans after it was confirmed he had been axed from his popular BBC radio show months after he was caught making a controversial joke during his time preparing for the Strictly tour in January.
The opera singer confirmed the BBC would not be renewing his contract, saying at the time: "It breaks my heart to say the BBC has decided not to renew my contract so I won't be returning to my radio show. I'm gutted."
Evans maintains that his remark was a nickname for his Strictly co-star Jamie Borthwick, and not a derogatory or sexual term used towards professional dancer Janette Manrara.
Liz Brookes, Evans' now-fiancée, is a business owner from Cardiff. Her business is Grapevine Event Management which organises corporate events across Wales.

The pair are believed to have met each other in early 2024. She often sat in the audience for the Strictly Come Dancing live shows last year and shared a sweet snap with him after one show, saying she was "proud."
Evans was inundated with messages congratulating him and his partner after the announcement.
One fan said: "Wow wow wow this is amazing news! llongyfarchiadau."
Another added: "Congratulations, some happy news after a tough start to the year."

Emmerdale's Lisa Riley ‘learned a lot about grief' after Robin Windsor death
The 48-year-old, who plays Mandy Dingle on the ITV soap, lost her mother in July 2012, just months before she joined BBC dancing show Strictly Come Dancing, where she was paired up with Windsor, who she credits with helping her through her grief. Windsor died in February last year at the age of 44, and his cause of death was not given. Asked about how she coped with the two deaths on ITV's Good Morning Britain, Riley said: 'I've learned a lot about grief and how to deal with it, and how to be open and to literally ask for help, because it's okay. 'Sometimes people go really within, my brother's that person, we all deal with things differently, and I was pressing the bravado button going, 'I've got to go out and play Mandy Dingle every day, I've got to dress up as Mandy and be funny'. 'There were some days I didn't want to be funny, I'm lucky with the brilliant girls in my dressing room, where we lean on each other, and my work with Sue Ryder, I've realised that there is a helpline out there. 'The internet is brilliant, there are so many places you can go to, Sue Ryder being one of them for help.' Riley went on to say that the Emmerdale team were 'phenomenal' following their deaths, but said she wanted to continue working. The actress said: 'Me, being me, I didn't want to be at home in my bedroom, or at home thinking about it too much, I had to carry on with my day job. 'But the make-up girls, what people at home won't know when they're watching Emmerdale is I was having my make-up done three times because I couldn't get it together, I couldn't, day in, day out, and work were brilliant, like we know, we'll write you out, we'll give you time off should you need it. 'But I wanted to do my job and keep going, because I know Robin would have wanted that, that sparkle, he wanted to keep that spark alive, and I felt I had to do that for him.' She said that when she first met Windsor and they began preparing for the BBC dancing show, she told him she wanted no-one to know her mother had died. Riley added: 'I said, 'under no circumstances can anyone in the press, anyone, know that my mum has just died', because the thought of someone picking up the phone to vote for us as a sympathy vote would break my heart, it would break my mother's heart. 'And Robin was like, 'I'm with you', he understood that, because some people would have gone, 'oh woe is me'. 'We did it because we were Lisa and Robin, the original Will and Grace, and that's what people fell in love with, they fell in love with just us two.'

David Walliams ‘gave Nazi salutes while recording BBC's Would I Lie To You?'
The 53-year-old, who left Britain's Got Talent in 2022 after making comments about the ITV show's contestants, is reported to have made the gesture twice during the filming of the show's Christmas special on Tuesday. He is reported to have made the salutes while his teammate on the show, Call The Midwife's Helen George, was telling a story about her experience on Strictly Come Dancing, in which she said she sprained her wrist from 'waving too much during the Strictly tour'. She was told by the opposing team, who she was trying to convince that her story was true, that her wave was 'too little', which is said to have led to Walliams joining in with a more vigorous wave which ended in a Nazi salute. Walliams, whose real name is David Edward Williams, was reportedly told off for the gesture by host Rob Brydon, before then performing another salute with a sexual connotation after some light-hearted lewd jokes about George's time on Strictly. The Times, who first reported the story, said team captain Lee Mack looked distinctly unimpressed by the incident. One person, who the newspaper says was a part of the audience during the show's filming, posted on X: 'I didn't have David Walliams doing a Nazi salute at the Would I Lie To You? Christmas taping on my 2025 bingo card.' It is understood that footage of the incident will not be broadcast. Walliams left Britain's Got Talent after he was caught making 'disrespectful comments' during breaks in filming about auditioning contestants in January 2020 at the London Palladium. Fremantle, which produces the ITV talent show, apologised after the comments were leaked and reached an 'amicable resolution' with Walliams after he sued the company for misuse of private information and breaching data law. A spokesperson for Banijay UK, which owns Would I Lie To You? production company Zeppotron, said: 'Any attempt at humour regarding this deeply offensive gesture, whether broadcast or not, is completely unacceptable in any context. 'It was immediately acknowledged during the recording that this segment would not be broadcast under any circumstances and we apologise to those who were at the recording for any offence caused.' A BBC spokesman added: 'The use of such an offensive gesture is completely unacceptable and we apologise to all at the recording for the offence caused.' Representatives for Walliams have been contacted for comment.

And after receiving an incredible Rotten Tomatoes score of 100% and impressing viewers, another term is on the way. But the news is bittersweet for fans - as it's the final series and will conclude the show's storyline. Announcing the news, the BBC also confirmed Jodie Campbell, Sekou Diaby, Aruna Jalloh, Myles Kamwendo and Josh Tedeku will all reprise their roles for the final series. Alongside writer and creator Daniel Lawrence Taylor who returns as their mentor Gus. Taylor will also make his directorial debut this series, directing the final episode. The last character herself spawned multiple specials and even a movie. Gavin and Stacey (2007 - Present) The series tells the story of Gavin (Matthew Horne) and Stacey (Joanna Page). The pair embarked on an online and telephone romance for six months. But when they finally decide to be together properly, their friends and family get in the way. Ruth Jones and James Corden created the beloved show, which has been going for over a decade. The 2019 Christmas special was the most-watched comedy in 17 years and the most-viewed non-sporting event in a decade. "From day one, I wanted to create something funny, honest, and proudly Black, "And in this final term, I hope to finish their story as they face their final year with greater challenges, deeper friendships and the looming question of life beyond school.'
