Every show cancelled by Netflix so far in 2025

Metro18-06-2025
Link is copied Comments It's been a bumper year for Netflix so far as we approach the halfway mark. The streaming platform has served up hit after hit in 2025, from the shocking and brilliant Adolescence and tense thriller Zero Day, through to more light-hearted fare such as The Four Seasons and Running Point. And returning favourites including Ginny and Georgia and The Night Agent have also hit big this year - with more familiar favourites, including the final series of Squid Game and the second season of Wednesday, to come. But for every new show which racks up the viewers, there are others which - sadly - we won't be seeing again, as they've fallen victim to the axe. But which shows have Netflix cancelled so far in 2025? Read on to find out which ones have been unlucky... (Picture: Manuel Fernández Valdes/NETFLIX) First up we have this sporting documentary aiming to follow in the footsteps of other hits including Formula 1: Drive To Survive, Break Point and Full Swing. Full Contact takes a behind-the-scenes look at the Six Nations Rugby championship, with the best teams in Europe battling it out in a bid to win the coveted trophy. We've had two series of this one, with the 2023 and 2024 championships coming under the spotlight - but Netflix confirmed ahead of a launch event for season two that there are no plans to return to the scrum for a third series. Which may well be a disappointment for fans of the sport (Picture: Netflix) Rugby isn't the only sport that's getting the heavo-ho from Netflix though - as the axe has also fallen on this documentary series which takes an in-depth look at the world's most famous cycling race. Three seasons of the show have been made - covering the 2022, 2023 and 2024 series - but Netflix confirmed earlier this year that the show would not be returning to cover the 2025 series. A spokesperson said: 'After three seasons, we are naturally coming to an end of this cycle. We're very proud of the work we've done and of the public response to the documentary series, which has allowed us to offer a fresh take on this legendary competition' (Picture: Alex Broadway 2023) The first of two Australia dramas on the list, this one follows a rebellious girl from New York who is expelled from school in Brooklyn and sent to live with family friends in a small Australian town - where she gets involved with a clique of local surfers. The show's end was confirmed by one of its stars, Liliana Bowrey, who responded to a fan query on Instagram about when the third series might be released by saying: 'There isn't one!' The actress also confirmed the bad news during a YouTube chat with co-star Kai Lewins - with the pair answering another question about a potential third series by staring silently into the camera as the screen faded to black. So it's fair to say this summer is over (Picture: Netflix) You may well have enjoyed this French version of the Spanish hit series Alpha Males - but sadly, you're not going to get any more time to get to know these characters, since the show has - for want of a better word - been shafted from Netflix. The show follows a group of middle-aged friends as they negotiate life, love and career crises in Paris - but news of its cancellation came in March this year after one of is stars, Guillaume Labbe, told French publication Tele Loisis that the series would not be returning. 'There is no season 2,' he explained. 'I would have liked there to be a second season because I loved working with the team. And it worked really well for Netflix. But they probably have good reasons for stopping that I don't know exactly. He went on to admit he was 'frustrated' by the show's axing (Picture: Netflix) Back to Australia now, and this family saga - dubbed the 'Succession of the outback' - focuses on the Lawson family, owners of the world's largest cattle station. However when Daniel, the favoured son of the family, dies in a suspicious accident leaving the ranch without a successor, the battle for ownership is on. Unfortunately for fans of the show, this one ended on a bit of a cliffhanger - meaning those who watched it will never get to find out the fate of Marianne Station, the ranch at the centre of the action. Netflix ANZ director of content Que Minh Luu said of the show: 'We are incredibly thankful to have had the chance to work with the wonderful cast and production team to bring Territory and the stunning Australian outback into the homes of millions around the world' (Picture: Netflix) It might come as a shock to learn that The Recruit won't be returning for a third series, given the popularity of this high-octane drama. Noah Centineo (To All The Boys I've Loved Before) takes the lead as Owen Hendricks, a lawyer whose life is flipped upside down when he begins working for the CIA. While the second series soared to the higher end of the Netflix charts - even challenging The Night Agent for the top spot - two series is your lot. Noah Centineo has addressed the cancellation, telling The Hollywood Reporter: 'It is what it is. Netflix, they have a certain mandate that they need to fill, and I'm very proud of the show, very grateful to our audience. We have a pretty strong cult following. And with Netflix, it just didn't really fit what it was that they needed, I suppose' (Picture: Netflix) Another series which won't be returning is this survival thriller from India. Kaala Paani centres on a group of individuals caught in a race against time for a cure, after a mysterious virus engulfs the islands of Andaman and Nicobar. While the show was well-received, being nominated for eight awards (and winning three prizes) at the 2024 Filmfare OTT Awards (which honour Hindi-language TV shows and films), a second series won't be forthcoming. In fact The Hollywood Reporter confirmed in May that season 2 had been scrapped just days before it was due to begin pre-production. A source close to the production told the publication that budget issues were to blame, suggesting the cost of making the show was 'humungous' (Picture: Netflix) Finally, here's another one which has been shelved after a single season, with the axe falling on the Madrid-set period drama despite talk of a second series. The show, which follows the life of lady-in-waiting Elena Bianda as she guides a trio of spirited sisters towards society and marriage, debuted in March this year and proved popular, with some dubbing it the 'Spanish Bridgerton'. But just weeks later Spanish publication El Confidencial Digital reported the show had been canned due to financial concerns - with Netflix Spain later confirming to What's On Netflix that the series would not be returning. We can only wonder what might have been if a second series had been given the greenlight (Picture: Manuel Fernández Valdes/NETFLIX)

Netflix's Love Is Blind UK is back with a brand new season and a whole host of new singles all hoping to find their perfect match A brand new series of Love Is Blind UK returns tomorrow with fresh singles all hoping to discover their perfect partner. ‌ The dating programme proved a massive hit with series one earning a BAFTA nomination, and now husband and wife presenting team Matt and Emma Willis are back on screens for another outing. But there's naturally a massive twist. ‌ The contestants will be 'dating' in their individual isolated pods, prevented from seeing each other. Despite not seeing their potential partner's physical appearance, it's only after getting engaged that they'll come face to face before moving in together to organise their wedding and encounter the other couples. ‌ This year's lineup features a whole range of fresh keen hopefuls, including a professional vocalist plus a Monica from Friends lookalike. One participant who's prepared for romance is Northern Ireland-based Billy, reports Belfast Live. Who is Billy Jervis Jr? Billy, aged 35 from Bangor in Northern Ireland, works as an Army Physical Trainer. He's remained single following his divorce five years back and considers today's dating scene a "complete minefield". ‌ Regarding his Love Is Blind journey, Netflix reveals: "He often feels like the third wheel as most of his friends are settled down and as a result, doesn't socialise as much as he used to. Divorce hasn't put Billy off marriage and he's keen to be a husband again and start a family with his life partner." According to his Instagram, Billy works as an instructor for the Royal Army Physical Training Corps, which is tasked with developing and maintaining physical fitness throughout the Army, ensuring troops are properly prepared for military operations. Army career Billy frequently shares glimpses of his life journey on his Instagram account and naturally maintains excellent physical condition due to his profession, regularly posting his training routines. One example is the Murph workout, where Billy revealed he became "emotional" completing it for the first time, adding: "Especially doing it on a baking running track in 25 degrees heat." ‌ The Murph workout involves a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and then another 1-mile run. In some posts he also displays highlights from his army training. Sharing a handful of photographs in one post, he wrote: "Thank you Matty for an epic hand over take over week with the 1st Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment." According to the Royal Army Physical Training Corps, Billy's role would encompass "a range of activities", including physical training, exercise rehabilitation, adventurous training and sports coaching and officiating. ‌ The website adds: "Royal Army Physical Training Corps Instructors (RAPTCIs) generally serve as detached personnel within most units across the Army. They are tasked by their Commanding Officers with the responsibility of maintaining the physical fitness of their soldiers in preparation for Military Operations. "This requires a high level of knowledge and experience in order to design and implement a physical training regime which complements the Unit role and training cycle." ‌ Prior to this role, Billy served with the Royal Signals, having penned on Instagram during Armed Forces Day 2023: "Proud to serve my country with the Royal Signals and now the Royal Army Physical Training Corps. It has made me the man I [am] today." King's Coronation During the King's coronation back in 2023, the Royal Army Physical Training Corps took part in the ceremony, participating in the procession. Billy shared a photo on Instagram at the time, writing: "Red jacket season is back, starting with the RAPTC Kings Coronation." Will Billy discover romance in the upcoming series? You'll have to tune in to find out.

Why Wednesday fans are delighted about rumoured death in season two

Fans are keen for Jenna Ortega 's character to display more emotion in the upcoming season of Wednesday, especially after she previously said she hadn't cried since her pet scorpion died. The Netflix show has been teasing the potential death of Wednesday's best friend, Enid Sinclair, which fans have speculated could be the catalyst for an emotional moment. A behind-the-scenes image showing Wednesday looking distressed has fuelled fan theories, although some have suggested it could be part of a body-swap storyline. However, both Ortega and Emma Myers, who plays Enid, have dismissed the body-swap theory, with Ortega calling it a 'crime' and Myers saying she prefers to stick to her character. The final four episodes of the new season of Wednesday are scheduled for release on 3 September.

'I worked for King Charles – this is what royals really think of Prince Harry announcement'

EXCLUSIVE: Former royal butler Grant Harrold thinks that Harry and Meghan will likely be "more careful" not to cause any "further upset", but there's one thing that the Royal Family dread A former royal butler has weighed in on what he reckons is the Royal Family's "biggest concern" regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix deal. It comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they would be extending their lucrative deal with the streaming giants, in what was described as a "multi-year, first look deal". ‌ In this new partnership, Netflix can approve or turn down any projects before anybody else, an agreement the New York Times described as a "first-look deal" with the couple, who now have "more options" but "less investment". ‌ It stands to reason that the royals might be apprehensive about the prospect with a range of Harry and Meghan-helmed TV and film projects on the horizon. ‌ However Grant Harrold, who worked as a butler for King Charles, thinks there may be less to worry about this time. Indeed, he suggests that Harry and Meghan will likely be "more careful" not to cause any "further upset", but there's one thing they really don't want to see again. ‌ Grant, speaking on behalf of OLBG, said: "I do think they will start being more careful not to cause further upset as they move into their future business ventures. 'If they cause any more damage with these programmes it will impact any on-going attempts to build bridges. 'I think the Royal Family are beyond this now. I don't think they'll be surprised or disappointed by it, because they're used to them doing what they want now. Their biggest concern will be another tell-all documentary on their fallouts with the family.' ‌ In the original arrangement five years ago, the Sussexes, who stepped away from their royal duties for a new life in California in 2020, landed an eye-watering deal reportedly worth more than 100 million dollars (£74 million). Announcing the latest deal on Monday, Meghan said: 'We're proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As ever brand. My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision.' ‌ It comes before the grand premiere of season two of With Love, Meghan, which is due to air this month. In the latest instalment of her lifestyle programme, the Duchess is set to grace our screens with a "fun and heartwarming" season. It promises "celebrity chefs, talented artists, and beloved friends" as they take on some "hands-on adventures" that will reportedly be packed with "laughter and discovery". As part of the first deal, Harry and Meghan produced a number of programmes that spanned everything from scripted series to lifestyle, with the shows also including Polo, Heart of Invictus, Harry and Meghan and Live to Lead. Harry and Meghan would be a phenomenal success, scooping 23.4 million views when it aired in December 2022. It was so popular that it became the most viewed documentary over its initial four days.
