Sarah Jessica Parker Responds to ‘And Just like That...' Cheating Plotline
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Sarah Jessica Parker responded to the choice to have Aidan sleep with his ex-wife, saying that she kind of, sort of understands how this happened. Does she think it was cheating? Here's what she said.
"I think if you share a child and that child is in trouble, and you both have distracting amounts of concern and worry, that reaching out for comfort, which might be almost a habit in their marriage, I wouldn't find it overly taxing to understand that and not be outraged by it," she said. A very diplomatic answer!
It's all part of the confusion in Carrie and Aidan's relationship this season. Are they together? Are they not? Even they don't seem to know. While Aidan is deeply apologetic about sleeping with Kathy, Carrie seems less upset about it. She wasn't planning on literally waiting for him for five years, even though it seems like that's what he expected. SJP said the lack of clarity is where they went wrong.
"This probably happens with people who are really familiar, who are intimately involved and are doing their level best to be decent to one another," she said. "They needed to deconstruct it further. And I think they were both trying to be so good to each other that they didn't pursue what the definition really was. And I think it was because they were trying to honor this idea. If either party had pushed for more meaningful definition, the end result might have been that they wouldn't have agreed to it."
Yeah, it feels like there were some big missteps here. It'll be very interesting to see how this shakes out the rest of the season.

And Just Like That…: Here's What We Want to See for Each Character Before the Show Ends
Pour us another round of cosmos, because we're preparing ourselves to say goodbye to the ladies of And Just Like That. HBO Max's Sex and the City sequel series is officially ending after three seasons — which means we only have two episodes left with Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and the rest of the gang. (The series finale airs Thursday, Aug. 14 at 9/8c.) And there are plenty of loose plot threads still hanging out there, so showrunner Michael Patrick King and the writers will have to work hard to come up with a pair of final episodes that will wrap everything up in a nice, chic bow. More from TVLine Sarah Jessica Parker and Her Co-Stars Offer Emotional Tributes as And Just Like That Reveals End Date And Just Like That... Shocker: Sex and the City Revival to End With Season 3 at HBO Max And Just Like That: Carrie Gets Closer to Duncan - But Is It Too Close? So we here at TVLine thought we'd do some of the heavy lifting for them. (As longtime Sex and the City fans, we feel certain we're qualified.) Below, we've laid out exactly what we need to see from each major character on And Just Like That before the curtain falls for good — and that includes the return of a few familiar faces from the past. Read on to see our wish list for And Just Like That's farewell, and then hit the comments to tell us what you want to see in the final two episodes. Carrie She already said goodbye to Aidan, so we don't have to worry about her making that mistake again. And she does have solid chemistry with her fellow writer Duncan. We're most excited, though, about her new journey as a novelist. So we'd love it if Carrie's new book became a sensation and took her to London, where she could cozy up with Duncan — and also reunite with a certain someone… Samantha Hello, fabulous! The fact that Duncan lives in London gives And Just Like That the perfect excuse to bring back fellow London resident Samantha for a much-needed reunion. It just wasn't the same without Samantha Jones around, and a Kim Cattrall cameo in the finale (however brief) would help it feel like a proper send-off — not just to this show but to Sex and the City, too. Miranda We've been liking her low-key romance with Joy so far — a lot more than her volatile hook-up with Che, anyway — and we wouldn't mind seeing those two get a happy ending. But we still have a soft spot for Steve: It'd be nice to see him and Miranda mend fences and spend some time together with Brady as a family before And Just Like That signs off for good. (And no, yelling at Brady for getting a girl pregnant doesn't count.) Charlotte Yes, we're happy her husband Harry is cancer-free, and Charlotte seems content balancing her work at the art gallery with her life at home being a mom. But mostly, we want to see Charlotte step into the spotlight a little more in the final two episodes and push for her own happiness, rather than just being a dutiful housewife or a supportive shoulder for Carrie to cry on. This woman has feelings, too! We've known that since way back in the Sex and the City days, and we'd like to see a little of that old sparkle again. Seema Seema is the most compelling new character And Just Like That gave us, so it's a shame that we have to say goodbye to her so soon. But we're enjoying the unlikely romance she's having with landscaper Adam, and we'd love to see that love, um, bloom in the final two episodes. Plus, she needs to sign a big client and get her new firm on track. Lisa Michelle Obama needs to show up and make a cameo in the final two episodes, if only to justify all the talk about her being a part of Lisa's long-gestating documentary. And no, we don't need to see Lisa have a fling with her editor Marion. She's too dedicated to her family to do anything that impulsive. Anthony He already has his happily-ever-after all sewn up with that Italian stallion Giuseppe, so we just need mom Patti LuPone's approval to seal the deal. But it would be nice to see the show acknowledge his ex (and Carrie's bestie) Stanford, played by the late Willie Garson, one more time before it signs off. Nya Hey, remember her? After two seasons as Miranda's professor pal, Nya dropped off the radar completely in Season 3, so we'd love to see her at least pop in to say hi and get some closure in the final two episodes. Che And as for seeing Miranda's regrettable ex again? Nah, we're good. Let us know what you want to see in the final two episodes with a comment below! And Just Like That... To End After Season 3
The end is near for And Just Like That... HBO Max's polarizing Sex and the City revival series. On Friday, showrunner Michael Patrick King confirmed that the series will conclude after its 12-episode third season, which is currently airing 'And just like that… the ongoing storytelling of the 'Sex and the City' universe is coming to an end,' King said in a statement shared on the show's social media platforms. 'While I was writing the last episode of 'And Just Like That…' season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop.' A statement from our showrunner, writer and director Michael Patrick King. — And Just Like That... (@AndJustLikeThat) August 1, 2025 @AtJustLikeThat / Via After noting that he and Sarah Jessica Parker had worked with the show's creative team to extend Season 3 from 10 episodes to 12, he added, 'SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn't want the word 'final' to overshadow the fun of watching the season. It's with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.' The series finale will air on HBO Max on Aug. 14. Several of the show's stars, including Parker and Kristin Davis, shared thoughts on its conclusion in social media posts of their own. 'Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all. I know others have loved her just as I have,' Parker wrote on Instagram, before noting she and King 'recognized, as we have in the past, this chapter complete.' Davis, who played Charlotte York Goldenblatt, wrote that she was 'profoundly sad,' adding: 'I love our whole beautiful cast and crew. 400 artisans working so hard on our show with deep love. And to our loyal fans, we love you forever and ever.' And Just Like That... premiered in December 2021 as a sequel to Sex and the City, which ran from 1998 to 2004 and spawned two feature films. In addition to Parker as Carrie and Davis as Charlotte, original series star Cynthia Nixon reprised her role as Miranda Hobbes. Actors Sarita Choudhury, Karen Pittman, and Sara Ramírez were among the many newcomers. Notably absent from the And Just Like That... principal cast was Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones. Cattrall had been famously outspoken about her disinterest in returning to the Sex and the City franchise following the 2010 release of the second film amid reports of a behind-the-scenes feud with Parker. Still, she was successfully wooed back for a much-buzzed-about cameo in the new show's Season 2 finale, which aired in 2023. Photograph by Courtesy of Max Though King's announcement might have caught many fans off guard, it wasn't exactly a surprise given the mixed reception And Just Like That... has received, particularly in its third season. Reviews of the series ranged from ' the great TV hate watch of our time ' to ' one of the worst shows on television,' while others were quick to point out the seemingly glaring plot holes present across multiple episodes. In an oddly prescient review published last month, Los Angeles Times critic Mary McNamara wrote, 'We're midway through the third — and one can only hope final — season, and I am hoarse from screaming at watching these beloved characters behave as if they had done some sort of ' Freaky Friday ' switch with 13-year-olds. Which is actually an insult to most 13-year-olds.'

‘And Just Like That ...' to end after third season
And just like that, a universe of fun, friendship and fashion is coming to an end. Michael Patrick King, showrunner of the 'Sex and the City' sequel 'And Just Like That ...,' announced on Instagram that the series will end after the third season concludes. Fans have a two-part finale to savor later this month. 'It's with great gratitude we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years,' he wrote. King said he decided to wrap things up while writing the season's final episode. He then split the finale into two episodes. The last episode will drop Aug. 14. In a long, heartfelt Instagram post of her own, Sarah Jessica Parker, who played the iconic Carrie Bradshaw character in both series, called the sequel 'all joy, adventure, the greatest kind of hard work alongside the most extraordinary talent.' She included a montage of Carrie's fashion and moments. Parker added: 'I am better for every single day I spent with you. It will be forever before I forget. The whole thing. Thank you all. I love you so.' Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon returned for the sequel. Largely absent was Kim Cattrall and her Samantha Jones, though Cattrall did make a brief, uncredited cameo in the Season 2 finale. Samantha's absence was explained as a move to London. Reports of pay and personal disputes bubbled over behind the scenes. The original series ran from 1998 to 2004, taking pop culture by storm with the style and drama of the 30-something friends in New York City. They shopped. They brunched. They dated, leaning on each other as Parker's Carrie, a writer, chronicled it all. The sequel picks up their lives in their mid-50s, to mixed reviews. Carrie became a widow. Nixon's Miranda Hobbes came out as queer. Davis' Charlotte York Goldenblatt copes with husband Harry's prostate cancer diagnosis. Fashion remains ever-present, including all those iconic heels still clacking through New York's brownstone-lined streets. In her farewell post, Parker wrote of her stylish Carrie that she, 'Changed homes, time zones, boyfriends, her mind, her shoes, her hair, but never her love and devotion to New York City.' She called Carrie 'my professional heartbeat for 27 years.'
