Supercross 2025 results: 450 highlights, finishing order, reaction at Daytona, Ken Roczen is sixth winner

NBC Sports03-03-2025

Ken Roczen moved determinedly from fourth to the lead in the first half of Round 8 of the 2025 Monster Energy Supercross season and then held off a challenge by Cooper Webb to become the sixth winner of the year at Daytona Beach, Florida, and tie the record for the most wins during a season.
Roczen was as surprised as the fans.
The win was special because everyone wants to win a race at the famed Daytona International Speedway, but Roczen said during the post-race news conference that all his wins are special now that they are coming with less frequency. Roczen had a solid start to his season with four second-place finishes and a third in the first seven rounds, but one thing was missing: He finally was the 'W'.
Webb was one of the favorites coming into Daytona because of the four second-place finishes and six podiums he's scored in seven attempts. Webb is accustomed to being the one applying pressure, but the possibility of finally winning this race forced him into making several mistakes that could not be overcome. Finishing three positions ahead of his principal rival, Chase Sexton, padded his points lead, so Webb was content.
Aaron Plessinger would like to think he has put the early season behind him now that he has his first podium of the year. Plessinger led Daytona from Laps 4 through 7 but got pushed back as far at fourth while his teammate Sexton and Webb battled their way to the front. He kept contact with the top three and moved into that position on Lap 14. This was not only his first podium but the first top-five of 2025.
Known in 2025 for his starts, Justin Cooper did not get out of the Daytona gate quickly. He completed Lap 1 in ninth and methodically worked his way into the top five by Lap 8 of 16. One more pass in the final laps placed him fourth on the chart.

Sexton would like to forget the last two weeks. He crashed late in Arlington as he attempted a sketchy pass on a lapped rider. Daytona was worse. Sexton crashed hard during his heat race and failed to finish with minor injuries and a damaged bike. He won the Last Chance Qualifier and had one of the worst gate picks for the feature. Sexton completed Lap 1 in eight, caught Webb midway through the race and was in third by Lap 10.
The effects of his crash started to take a toll soon after and he faded to fifth in the final rundown. Sexton now has a 10-point deficit to Webb as the series hits the halfway point.
We have been following Kevin Moranz for the past two weeks, and he made that worthwhile by qualifying directly into the feature with a seventh-place finish in his heat. Moranz finished 21st but earned points for the fifth time in eight rounds. He stands 25th in the standings.

Motocross at Hangtown 2025, Round 2: How to watch, start times, schedule, TV info

Round 2 of the 2025 Pro Motocross season heads to the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Rancho Cordova, California, as Jett Lawrence embarks on what he hopes will be his second perfect season after first accomplishing that feat as a rookie. Two things stand in his way: 1) Eli Tomac pressured the 2023 Motocross champion throughout the second moto of the season opener last week in Pala, California, and 2) this is the only track on which he has been beaten. Lawrence crashed heavily on a downhill portion of the track last year and opened the door for Chase Sexton to sweep the motos. After Lawrence suffered an injury midway through the season, Sexton became the 2024 champion. Dan Beaver, Sexton will not mount up this weekend as he continues to recover from the injury he suffered in Moto 1 in Pala, California, in the Fox Raceway Nationals. He'll return when he is 100 percent. Coming off his 1-1 performance in Pala, Haiden Deegan hopes to sweep the motos again this week. He won the 250 championship in 2024, but was only able to get the broom out once, which adds to his motivation at Hangtown. Hangtown Motocross betting, predictions, odds, picks, lines: Eli Tomac closes gap on Jett Lawrence

Jett Lawrence showed minimal movement between Rounds 1 and 2 of the 2025 Pro Motocross season, but intense competition with Eli Tomac last week narrowed the gap between the two favored riders. Jett opened with raw odds of -294 for the season opener at Fox Raceway in Pala, California. Frankly, he might have been an even more expensive proposition if not for the fact that he was returning from an ACL injury suffered early in the Monster Energy Supercross season. Jett led every lap of both motos, but failed to dominate Moto 2 under pressure from Tomac. Jett's odds for the Hangtown Classic in Rancho Cordova, California, remain in the minus range, but are slightly more attractive at -283. MX 2024 Rd 01 Pala Jett Lawrence Chase Motocross betting odds set expectations for Pro Motocross championship Advertisement Despite returning from injury with minimal recovery time, Jett Lawrence is an overwhelming favorite to win the 2025 Pro MX Championship Dan Beaver , Dan Beaver , Tomac (+247) had more time to prepare for the Motocross season opener than Jett. His broken fibula was repaired, and training was initiated in time for him to compete in a couple of Supercross rounds, but he decided to focus on the outdoors. He posted a modest finish of fourth in Moto 1 at Fox before finding the right lines in the second race. Tomac did not let Jett out of his sight until the closing laps and even managed to get a wheel alongside the eventual winner. Historically, Hangtown is one of Tomac's best tracks and incidentally, the only MX course on which Jett has been beaten. The result of these factors is that a differential of 743 points between Jett and Tomac in Pala has shrunk to 530 for Hangtown. Hunter Lawrence (+558) is the only other rider under 10/1 in raw opening odds. Notably, all three riders on the podium last week in Pala were returning from injury, so there is still some residual concern about their performance. The question of whether Hunter found his limit in Round 1 remains to be answered. MX 2024 Rd 02 Hangtown Jett Lawrence Hunter Hangtown Motocross 2025 preview: Top finishes, previous winners, historic results, who to watch Advertisement Last week's contest between Jett Lawrence and Eli Tomac suggests the Hangtown Classic will be a competitive round. Dan Beaver , Dan Beaver , A huge gap appears between the third- and fourth-ranked riders in Round 2. Aaron Plessinger (+4032) is slightly over 40/1 and should garner some attention after sweeping the top five in Pala's pair of motos. He topped out with a podium in the second race, but was never a factor for the win. Bet modestly, if at all, for the overall victory. His podium odds are -139, so there isn't much juice to be squeezed. Justin Cooper's (+4731) runner-up finish in Moto 2 contributes to his fifth-place ranking in Hangtown. His eighth-place finish in Moto2 makes him a formidable proposition, however. His podium odds are minimally in the plus range at +151. Jorge Prado (+7199) is in a different category than the top five this week. With such a high return on investment of 71/1, bold bettors might wish to place a modest wager on an overall win, but his long odds for the victory drag his podium odds to +579, which is a much safer bet.
