Hunter Greene shines in return as Reds shut out Phillies
Greene, out since June 3 with a right groin strain, was dominant over the course of his 85-pitch effort, striking out six and walking none.
The right-hander, projected as the ace of the staff at the start of the season, retired the first seven batters he faced before Bryson Stott singled with one out in the third. After a Trea Turner two-out single moved Stott to second, Greene fanned Kyle Schwarber looking to end the threat.
The Reds put the game away with a four-run seventh on Andujar's third homer in four games, a third career grand slam to the seats in left off reliever Jordan Romano.
The Reds captured the rubber game and won for the fourth time in five games. They welcome the Milwaukee Brewers to town on Friday after their first day off on Thursday since July 24.
Cristopher Sanchez (11-4) allowed four runs - three earned - matching a season-high for a third time this yeafr. The left-hander lost for just the second time in 11 starts since June 8.
The Reds scored once in the fourth on a Noelvi Marte double, scoring Austin Hays. In the sixth, Hays and Marte were at the heart of another two-out rally later when Hays doubled home Elly De La Cruz and then Marte singled home Hays.
Marte's single turned into a so-called Little League home run when Brandon Marsh threw wildly home to try and throw out Hays. Sanchez threw wildly back to third in an attempt to retire Marte, who came home.
All eight of the Reds' runs came with two outs.
In losing two of three in Cincinnati, the Phillies had trouble getting the offense on track, scoring just five runs in the series and failing to put a runner on base in the first two innings of all three games.

He narrowly missed a birdie putt on the 17th but it was all smiles on the 18th. 'It was a tough, tough start,' MacIntyre said on Sky Sports. 'Going out with that lead is difficult but if I do my job well these guys have got to do really well to catch me. 'A 68 today, it was a struggle at times, through five or six holes, but it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog and I've got all the fight.' Asked about his clash with the galleries on the 14th, MacIntyre laughed as he talked about Ryder Cup rivalries. 'We're in America, playing against their sweetheart Scottie, who I get on well with, he's a great guy,' he said. 'I expected it today and I expect it again tomorrow. You give me crap, I'll give you crap back. I'm not scared of that.' Scheffler had closed the gap with birdies on the fourth, seventh and 11th holes, but a missed putt saw him bogey the 12th. He birdied again on the 14th to sign for a 67 that keeps him firmly in the hunt going into the final day. Sweden's Ludvig Aberg will look to make it a three-horse race after his birdie on the 18th brought him within two shots of Scheffler. Sam Burns and Harry Hall are two further shots back in a tie for fourth, one shot ahead of Fleetwood and Maverick McNealy.

Cade Cavalli earns first MLB victory as Nationals blank Phillies
August 16 - Cade Cavalli recorded his first major-league win after tossing seven scoreless innings, fueling the host Washington Nationals to a 2-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. Making his fourth career start and third in his return from Tommy John surgery, Cavalli (1-0) scattered seven hits and struck out five without walking a batter. The first-round pick of the 2020 MLB Draft out of Oklahoma fanned Edmundo Sosa on five pitches to end his outing. Wood ripped a 3-2 fastball from Taijuan Walker (4-6) into the right-center field gap to plate Crews and House and stake Washington to a 2-0 lead. Cavalli kept Philadelphia at bay before being relieved by Jose Ferrer, who retired the first four batters he faced before J.T. Realmuto slapped a single into left that outfielder Wood misplayed. Ferrer, however, induced Brandon Marsh to ground out and struck out Harrison Bader to secure his second save of the season. Philadelphia's Trea Turner recorded his second three-hit performance of the series. He is 8-for-14 in the set and riding a six-game hitting streak. The Phillies, however, went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left six on base en route to losing for the fourth time in their last five outings. Myles Straw's career day leads Blue Jays to blowout of Rangers
August 16 - Myles Straw was 4-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs, and the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the visiting Texas Rangers 14-2 on Saturday afternoon. It was Straw's first career multi-homer game while his four hits tied his career high. Daulton Varsho was 3-for-3 with a two-run blast and a walk for the Blue Jays, who have won the first two games of the three-game series. Davis Schneider had three hits and four RBIs with his three-run homer coming against Rangers first baseman Rowdy Tellez, who pitched the seventh and eighth. Jake Burger had three hits and two RBIs for the Rangers, who have lost eight of nine. Toronto erupted for six runs in the second against Patrick Corbin (6-9). Bo Bichette led off with a single, took third on Varsho's one-out single and scored on Ernie Clement's double to left. Straw homered to left center on an 0-1 cutter down the middle.
