Madhya Pradesh Cop Dies By Suicide, Alleges Harassment In Chilling Videos
A 51-year-old assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police, Pramod Pavan, allegedly died by suicide at his official quarters inside the Godan Police Station premises in Madhya Pradesh's Datia district early Tuesday morning.
The cop was found hanging inside his official residence. But what has sent shockwaves across the state are a series of chilling videos he posted before he killed himself - videos in which he names serving police officers and local mafia members, accusing them of mental harassment, caste discrimination, and even death threats.
Wearing his police uniform, ASI Pramod Pavan, in his recorded messages, alleges that he was mentally tortured by Godan Police Station in-charge Arvind Singh Bhadauria, constable-driver Roop Narayan Yadav, and Tharet police station in-charge Anfasul Hasan.
The reason? He claims it began after he intercepted a tractor-trolley carrying illegally mined sand linked to local mafia member Babloo Yadav.
"Since then, I've been harassed continuously. I haven't been allowed to leave the station to even get my Aadhaar or Samagra cards made. Casteist slurs are hurled at me daily. I can't even eat properly. These men, including Babloo Yadav, have threatened to kill me by running a tractor over me," Pramod Pavan alleges in one of the videos.
In another video reportedly recorded just before the alleged suicide Pavan exposes the operation of illegal gambling dens, allegedly protected by the same set of officers. He names Raghu Yadav, Ram Lakhan Yadav, and Ramraja Yadav as key operators of illegal gambling, allegedly enjoying protection from Bhadauria and Yadav.
He further claims that multiple murders, including the 2024 killing of Narendra Yadav, are linked to these dens, and that if the call records of constable Roop Narayan Yadav are scrutinised, "crucial murder evidence will emerge".
Godan Police Station in-charge Arvind Singh Bhadauria has been attached to police lines, and a probe has been ordered under DySP (AJK) to ensure transparency.
Speaking to NDTV, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Umesh Garg said, "We received information this morning that he died by suicide last night. All senior officials are present at the scene. An investigation is underway, and action will follow based on its findings. Every video will be examined impartially. The documents he shared will also be scrutinised thoroughly, and a fair and unbiased inquiry will be ensured."
The incident once again puts the spotlight on rampant illegal sand mining in Gwalior-Chambal region, a deadly business that has already claimed the lives of: Deputy Forest Ranger Subedar Kushwah in 2018 (crushed to death by a mining vehicle), IPS officer Narendra Kumar in 2012 (killed by a sand-laden tractor-trolley).
In 2019, then-Congress minister Govind Singh had admitted on record that Datia and Bhind districts were hotspots for illegal mining and mafia activity.

As per the police, Harish also called Bharat around 10 pm, instructing him to collect a food order and pay for it. The next day, at around 7 am, he got a call from Kaur saying his uncle had died, and he was shocked to learn that Harish had a stab wound in his chest. Kaur was taken into custody, and the knife used in the stabbing was confiscated. Kerala Panchayat Booked For Allegedly Killing Hundreds Of Stray Dogs
Kerala: An animal rights activist from the Idukki-based animal rescue team filed a complaint against the Munnar panchayat authorities, alleging they had recently culled hundreds of stray dogs. Following the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the law. A video showing stray dogs being captured and transported in a panchayat vehicle went viral on social media and was aired by several TV channels. The complainant also alleged that the authorities attempted to secretly shift the carcasses from the site where they had been buried. "We received information that the panchayat was making a secret move to relocate the carcasses. We filed the complaint based on that," she said on Sunday. A police officer confirmed that a case had been registered based on the complaint, although no concrete evidence had been found so far. The case has been filed against the driver of the panchayat vehicle. "We have not obtained any evidence to substantiate the allegations yet. The investigation is ongoing," police said. The case has been registered under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (mischief by killing or maiming an animal) and provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. The development comes at a time when the stray dog menace is a growing concern in Munnar, with the panchayat facing pressure and criticism from residents. Mumbai: In a drive against illegal Bangladeshi migrants, the city Crime Branch arrested a couple for allegedly running an elaborate racket of forging Indian identity documents for illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. The arrested accused were identified as Purushottam Prasad Sharma (57) and his wife Manju Purushottam Sharma alias Manju alias Altaf Shaikh (42), residents of Malad (West). According to officials, the duo was involved in fabricating Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, voter IDs, and bank documents to facilitate the illegal stay of Bangladeshi nationals in India. Acting on a tip-off, a team from unit 11 of the crime branch raided the couple's residence at Sai Savli Co-operative Housing Society, New MHADA Colony, on Friday and recovered a huge pile of documents. During the search, police recovered a laptop, four mobile phones with SIM cards, forged identity documents including two Aadhaar cards in different names, two PAN cards, and a voter ID linked to Manju Sharma. Officials also seized bank passbooks, cheque books, and a red-coloured pen drive believed to contain data related to the racket's operations. Police suspect that the accused were part of a larger network assisting Bangladeshi nationals in fabricating Indian citizenship documents to settle illegally in the country. The accused also had contacts with agents operating in Bangladesh, as evidenced by transaction records and call data retrieved from their devices. "The modus operandi involved creating forged Aadhaar and PAN cards using fake credentials and opening bank accounts in Indian financial institutions. This documentation was then used by illegal immigrants to claim Indian citizenship and avail public services," a Crime Branch official said.
