49ers vs. Raiders live updates: Start time, TV channel for NFL preseason game

USA Today12 hours ago
The San Francisco 49ers' preseason slate continued into its second week for a road matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders on Saturday afternoon at Allegiant Stadium.
While they entered the game without many of their top players, they had a few more starters see the field early than they did in their preseason opener against the Denver Broncos last week at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
Despite that, there are a handful of players to keep an eye on and some starting jobs up for grabs, making Saturday's game a compelling one from the 49ers' perspective.
Niners Wire is bringing you live updates, scores and highlights from the game. Follow along.

49ers score first on Jake Moody's 30-yard FG: 49ers 3, Raiders 0
Brock Purdy's strong offensive drive (mostly through the air) stalled after two incompletions and a scramble out of bounds for a yard, forcing third-year kicker Jake Moody in for a 30-yard field goal.
49ers WR Ricky Pearsall makes his presence known early
Pearsall has been in and out of practices during training camp, but he made his 2025 debut in this game and made sure the defense was aware that he was on the field, catching Brock Purdy's first three passes for 42 yards. That included a 21-yard reception to convert a third-and-18.
49ers warmups indicate who will and won't play vs. Raiders
Prior to San Francisco's second preseason game, their starters warmed up in uniform on the field at Allegiant Stadium. Joining Brock Purdy on the field were tight end George Kittle and cornerback Deommodore Lenoir. Unfortunately, running back Christian McCaffrey, offensive tackle Trent Williams, defensive end Nick Bosa, defensive lineman C.J. West, defensive end Mykel Williams, cornerback Upton Stout, safety Jason Pinnock, cornerback Tre Brown and linebacker Fred Warner weren't preparing to play.
49ers QB Brock Purdy expected to start vs. Raiders
San Francisco's starting quarterback didn't play a single snap against the Denver Broncos in the preseason opener, but he's expected to be the first quarterback under center against Las Vegas as he ramps up for the team's Week 1 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks.

49ers injury updates
Don't expect impressive rookies Mykel Williams or Upton Stout on the field at Allegiant Stadium. Williams is nursing a knee issue that knocked him out of the preseason opener vs. the Denver Broncos. Stout also missed that game, and then missed practice in the week leading up to the matchup with the Raiders.
Who is starting for 49ers at quarterback?
Our guess is Brock Purdy gets the start for San Francisco. Head coach Kyle Shanahan intimated during the week that Purdy may see some action in the second preseason game.
"I'd like Brock to play, we'll see how it goes," Shanahan said after Thursday's joint practice with the Raiders. "I haven't decided anything for sure yet. We'll watch this tape, I planned on getting these starters going. There might be a couple guys I rest, but there's not a lot of, especially on the defense, healthy starters as it is. But I'll figure that out here in the next 24 hours. But planning on some starters to play.'

Arizona Cardinals play only 2 defensive starters in preseason game vs. Broncos

While most starters sat out, rookie CB Will Johnson and LB Akeem Davis-Gaither got some work in against the Broncos. Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton revealed on Thursday, following the joint practice they had with the Arizona Cardinals, that neither team would play its starters in the preseason matchup on Saturday, "save for a few." The Cardinals held true to that. In the 27-7 loss to the Broncos, the Cardinals did not play a single offensive starter. On defense, though, they had two "starters" get action early in the game. Those two players were rookie cornerback Will Johnson, their second-round draft pick this year, and linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither. Davis-Gaither was signed in free agency this offseason. Johnson and Davis both came out by the end of the first quarter. Davis-Gaither had a tackle in the game. Johnson also had a tackle and was flagged for defensive holding. Jarrett Stidham shines again as Broncos dominate Cardinals in 27-7 win

The Denver Broncos dominated the Arizona Cardinals with a 27-7 win in Week 2 of NFL preseason at Empower Field at Mile High on Saturday evening. The Broncos rested most starters, but coach Sean Payton made a few exceptions, including tight end Evan Engram. The veteran helped Denver march 97 yards on the team's opening drive with a 58-yard catch-and-run. After quarterback Jarrett Stidham then connected with rookie receiver Pat Bryant for 29 more yards, rookie running back RJ Harvey punched it in from eight yards out to give the Broncos an early 7-0 lead. Arizona matched that score with an 11-play, 67-yard drive that ended with quarterback Jacoby Brissett's 16-yard touchdown pass to receiver Simi Fehoko to tie the game at 7-7. Stidham later threw a touchdown pass of his own, connecting with receiver Troy Franklin on a 27-yard score to give the Broncos a 14-7 lead. After Denver's second score of the game, the Cardinals replaced Brissett with Clayton Tune at quarterback late in the first quarter. Stidham stayed in the game for the Broncos' third series and the offense drove down to the two-yard line and lined up to go for it on 4th-and-1 before offensive lineman Alex Palczewski was penalized for a false start. After the penalty backed the team up five yards, Denver settled for a 26-yard Wil Lutz field goal to make it 17-7. The highlight of that drive was a 35-yard run from running back Jaleel McLaughlin. Stidham ended up playing the entire first half and he connected with Franklin again late in the second quarter on a 17-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 24-7. After Lutz missed a 64-yard field goal attempt, the Broncos took a 17-point lead into halftime. Stidham finished his night 16-of-23 passing for 240 yards with two touchdowns. Lutz later converted a 35-yard field goal in the third quarter to extend the lead to 27-7. Sam Ehlinger took over at quarterback in the second half and he threw what would have been a touchdown pass to Caden Prieskorn late in the fourth quarter, but the tight end fumbled the ball and the Cardinals recovered it in the end zone for a touchback. It didn't take long for Denver to get the ball back and run out the clock, securing a 27-7 victory. On the injury front, backup offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo was carted off the field in the third quarter and was quickly ruled out with a knee injury. Gargiulo has been competing for a backup swing guard/center role. Outside linebacker Garrett Wilson also left in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury.
