Ramadoss reiterates caste survey demand, warns of protests
Speaking at the Vanniyar Magalir Manadu (Vanniyar women's conference) in Poompuhar, Ramadoss said 'Caste survey should be conducted to implement 10.5% quota for Vanniyars. Roughly 300 communities will get to know how their composition in TN's population, their current status only if the caste survey is done. Why is the chief minister hesitating? Other states have conducted it,' Ramadoss said, and recalled that former CM M Karunanidhi had implemented 20% quota to MBCs.
Advocating for the Vanniyar reservation, Ramadoss said. 'The 10.5% quota should be implemented, else there will be huge protests like road blockades across Tamil Nadu. Don't force us to do that, the state won't bear such agitations.'
Further, Ramadoss requested the CM to provide him with 10 senior government officials and said he would advise them about the measures needed to resolve the drug problem in the state. 'I won't ask you (Stalin) to provide me 3 months in power, but provide me with 10 officials.
The social harm could be abolished during your period, and not when we attain power,' he said. While concluding his speech, Ramadoss said he will form a winning alliance in 2026.

Chennai, Aug 11 (UNI) Amid the heightened leadership row between the father and son duo in the first family of the OBC-Vanniyar dominated PMK, its Founder Dr S Ramadoss said he would definitely form a 'victorious alliance' for the 2026 Assembly polls, due in 8-9 months. In a veiled reference to his son Dr Anbumani, who had made a similar claim at the GC meeting convened by him two days back in his capacity as the PMK President (though later demoted as Working President by his dad in May this year over the leadership tussle) after the Madras High Court cleared the decks, Dr Ramadoss urged the PMK cadres not to heed to anybody's words and asserted that whatever he tell will definitely happen. Winding up the 8th Vanniyar Women's Conference organised by the PMK at Vanniyar Sangam at Poompuhar in Mayiladthurai district last night, he exhorted the party cadre not to heed to 'anyone else's words' and assured that he would definitely form a 'victorious alliance' for the 2026 Assembly elections. 'I will form a victorious alliance in 2026 no matter who says what. You don't even have to hear it — only what I tell will happen,' Dr. Ramadoss told the gathering. Urging Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to conduct the caste-based survey in state and questioned his hesitancy, Dr. Ramadoss said conducting the census would secure the Chief Minister, a place in 'social history. 'Late Chief Minister Karunanidhi was my good friend. He gave 20% reservation for MBCs. As his son, you should not hesitate,' he said, in a fervent plea to Mr Stalin to conduct the census. He also urged Mr Stalin not to push the PMK to launch state-wide agitations in this regard. DMK wants Puducherry to adopt education policy of Tamil Nadu
The Leader of the Opposition and DMK convenor R. Siva has called for the Puducherry government to adopt the Tamil Nadu Government's new State Education Policy. In a statement, Mr. Siva stated that whereas the National Education Policy (NEP) was a design of right wing ideology and exclusionary of weaker sections, the State Education Policy recently formulated by Tamil Nadu Government was socially inclusive and a vision document for the future for students, and society at large. The DMK leader pointed out that the Tamil Nadu Education Department had scrapped the examination system for certain classes and confined it to only Classes 10 and 12, virtually derailing the NEP plan to expel vast sections from the education system by conducting tests in the 5th, 8th, 10th and 12th standards. The Tamil Nadu policy as announced by Chief Minister MK Stalin also also emphatic in its adoption of a bilingual policy (English and Tamil) and rejection of a third language as sought be imposed by the NEP. Further, the policy promotes comprehension and learning without rote learning and gives priority to girls education and gender equality, he added. The DMK urged for Puducherry, where the school system had been aligned with the Tamil Nadu State Board, to follow TN's education policy. He pointed out that while Puducherry and Tamil Nadu had largely followed similar patterns of development and welfare, the tenure of the AINRC-BJP NDA government had marked a departure in the field of education by migrating all government schools to the CBSE pattern under pressure of the Centre, Mr. Siva contended. The DMK convenor also stated that the transition had already taken a toll on the student community and threatened their future continuance in the education system. He warned that the DMK would mobilise a mass agitation if the government refused to heed calls for safeguarding the future of students by reverting to the Tamil Nadu education system.

Implement Old Pension Scheme by September: Anbumani Ramadoss
PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Monday said that the State government must implement the Old Pension Scheme after the Gagandeep Singh Bedi committee completes its consultative meetings. The discussions are set to begin on August 18 and completed on September 11. In a statement, Dr. Anbumani said that the committee formed to recommended the provision of Old Pension Scheme slept for 6 months without doing anything substantial. 'It is gratifying that the committee, which was formed on February 4 and had been dormant for more than six months, has now woken up and is about to start work. The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has been insisting for many years that the Tamil Nadu government should implement the old pension scheme for government employees and teachers,' he said. Dr. Anbumani said, 'I had pointed this out and issued statements on June 22 and August 6. Furthermore, during my ongoing padayatra focussed on reclaiming the rights of the people. I have been raising awareness among the public about this issue every single day,' he said.
