Anant Agarrwal, Director of Marketing and Inside Sales at Cogent Infotech , a global IT consulting and workforce solutions organization headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, has been honored with the prestigious National Business Ratna Award 2025 by Business Connect—in the category of Corporate Leader of the Year 2025. The award recognizes his exceptional ability to blend strategic thinking, innovative vision, and empathetic leadership to drive organizational growth.
Anant's journey at Cogent Infotech has been defined not only by his knack for anticipating market trends but also by his deep commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and agility. He is known for driving strategic initiatives from concept to reality, ensuring flawless execution and measurable impact. Through disciplined implementation and decisive leadership, he has helped the organization continually innovate and excel in a rapidly evolving marketplace.
Reflecting on this milestone, Anant attributes much of his success to the guidance of Cogent's leadership, particularly President Manu Mehta, CEO Nandan Banerjee, and his direct manager, Vice President Shane Rocque. He credits their strategic mentorship and unwavering belief in his potential as instrumental in shaping his leadership philosophy and strengthening his ability to navigate complex business environments. They have fostered a culture that not only inspires strategic thinking but also empowers leaders at every level to drive meaningful impact.
Cogent Infotech's distinctive culture, carefully nurtured by Manu Mehta and Nandan Banerjee, promotes continuous learning, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration. Under their guidance and with sponsorship from Cogent, Anant completed an Executive MBA from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode, enriching his strategic toolkit and preparing him to drive growth across global markets.
Anant's strategic mindset took shape early in his career through formative experiences at The Times of India, where he developed insights into customer dynamics, strategic implementation, supply chain operations, and market strategy. During his tenure there, he proposed an innovative idea aimed at helping vernacular-language readers transition into English readers for The Times of India and increasing the adoption of The Economic Times within educational institutions. His suggestion involved including definitions for difficult English words at the bottom of each page, making the content more accessible and engaging for readers. Although the idea wasn't implemented at the time, The Economic Times has since introduced a similar feature, offering word meanings for select challenging terms, an initiative that closely aligns with Anant's original vision to enhance reader engagement and expand readership.
Following his time at The Times of India , Anant further honed his skills at Club Mahindra, where he deepened his understanding of consumer behavior and developed the agility required to respond to rapidly changing market demands.
At Cogent Infotech, Anant's career has progressed rapidly. Having joined the organization in 2021 as an Assistant Brand Manager, he rose through the ranks to become the Director of Marketing and Inside Sales. Under Shane Rocque's mentorship, he mastered the nuances of aligning global teams, managing cross-functional challenges, and executing complex strategic initiatives. Shane's influence reinforced Anant's conviction that clarity in strategic direction and empowered teams are essential for sustained success.
Beyond his corporate achievements, Anant is also the creator of The Power of 3M , a blog ranked among the top 25 globally in the mythology category. Through this platform, he blends mythology, management, and mindset to offer leadership insights grounded in timeless wisdom. Drawing from shlokas and stories from the Bhagavad Gita and the Mahabharata, he interprets ancient teachings and translates them into modern management lessons, bridging past wisdom with today's business realities. For Anant, The Power of 3M is more than a blog—it's a reflection of his belief in integrating diverse knowledge streams to inspire modern leadership and foster innovative thinking.
Anant says, "I define success as more than just achieving performance metrics. I believe that true success is built on creating the environment that makes those outcomes possible. For me, results reflect the underlying culture: a high-performing team isn't built by chance but through deliberate design.' He evaluates success through tangible signals: the number of collaborative solutions developed, the quality of internal feedback loops, and the courage with which new ideas are pursued. For him, a culture centered on ownership, problem-solving, and experimentation is what drives sustainable results not only today but well into the future.
Anant views Generative AI as more than just a tool; he believes it's fundamentally transforming business models by redefining processes, structures, working relationships, decision-making, business operations, and value chains. In the IT industry, it has begun to decouple growth and service delivery from traditional headcount-based models.
Regarding the IT industry's transformation, Anant observes that headcount alone no longer defines success. The true differentiator now lies in how organizations combine domain expertise with intelligent automation. Its impact is already visible in areas such as code generation, software testing, personalized customer solutions, and advanced analytics, driving speed, precision, and innovation
Anant emphasizes that leadership in this era requires clear judgment—understanding which tasks can and should be automated for efficiency, which can be augmented with AI support, and which can be amplified to drive maximum value. He believes that Generative AI should be integrated into the core strategy of the company and not viewed merely as a tactical decision. It's not about replacing people, but about helping them unlock new potential through smarter AI integration. Anant believes this mindset enables organizations to drive transformation rather than merely react, building adaptive, future-ready teams equipped for intelligent collaboration.
At the heart of his leadership philosophy is a focus on developing leaders who look beyond performance metrics and value the softer dimensions of leadership—emotional intelligence, trust-building, and team alignment. While innovation and agility are critical for staying competitive, Anant believes that culture is the true accelerator. A strong, purpose-driven culture doesn't simply help organizations keep pace with change; it shapes how that change unfolds. Through mentorship, cultural stewardship, and strategic enablement, he remains committed to preparing the next generation of leaders for success in a complex and fast-changing landscape.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Anant sees the award as a reflection of the collective vision and collaborative culture at Cogent Infotech. He extends heartfelt thanks to Manu Mehta and Nandan Banerjee for their invaluable guidance and support. "Their leadership," he says, "continues to inspire me to strive for excellence, anticipate change, and empower those around him to embrace the future with confidence."

NotebookLM Gets Video Overviews, Along With Upgraded Studio Panel

Back its I/O conference in May, Google announced that it would be adding Video Overviews to NotebookLM, with the new features "coming soon." Now these features are being rolled out, according to a Keyword blog post on Tuesday. NotebookLM is an incredibly easy to use, powerful AI tool that can distill dense pieces of information into more digestible material. Features like Audio Overviews, and now, Video Overviews, offer deep dives into topics covered by source materials. Along with the Video Overviews, NotebookLM redesigned its Studio Panel and added more features that will allow you to stretch your information further into your specific areas of interest. For more, don't miss our coverage of NotebookLM's new curated selection of featured notebooks. Video Overviews start as slides, with more formats to come Google's blog post says the new Video Overviews rolling out represent the first presentation format, which hints that more types will become available in the future. For now, the overviews take the form of narrated slides. Video Overviews pull in images, diagrams, quotes and other data points from your documents to provide a visual representation of your sources. These visual aids can make it even easier to grasp complex topics. Like Audio Overviews, you'll be able to use the "customize" section to direct Video Overviews in any way you see fit. Whether you're seeking a general overview that touches on the core themes or a deep dive dedicated to a specific section of your sources, you'll be able to fine-tune to your liking. Video Overviews are rolling out to all English users, starting today, with additional languages on the way soon. NotebookLM's Studio Panel is redesigned and upgraded You can think of the Studio panel as where all the NotebookLM magic happens. It's where you'll generate your Audio or Video Overviews, Mind Maps, Study Guides and more. It's now redesigned, and features a few additional tricks. The redesign adds icons at the top of the panel to quickly generate what you want. Audio Overviews, Video Overviews and Mind Maps each have their own dedicated tiles, and a Reports tile tucks away Briefing Docs, Study Guides, FAQs and Timelines for a less cluttered feel. You can hover over any tile to select which option you want to generate from a drop-down menu. Prior to this update, you could only generate one of each type of studio output per notebook and you could only access the generated items one at a time. Now, you can create multiple study guides, FAQs and others within the same notebook. Google describes some of the ways this new functionality could be useful: Creating multiple Audio Overviews for a notebook in different languages. Generating dedicated Audio and Video Overviews for specific roles in a team notebook with notes and documentation. Making multiple Mind Maps, FAQs or study guides for each chapter for your next big exam. In addition, you can now multitask within the Studio panel, allowing you to poke around in a Mind Map while listening to an Audio Overview. The redesigned Studio panel will be rolling out to all users over the next few weeks. For more on NotebookLM, here's how to make your notebooks public and share them.

One in Eight Language Education Programs Shut Down: Immigration Policy Putting Canada's Official Languages Sector at Risk

OTTAWA, ON, July 24, 2025 /CNW/ - According to Languages Canada, over 13% of Canada's accredited English and French language education programs closed in the first quarter of 2025 alone, marking the sharpest decline in the sector's history. The number of accredited Official Languages programs is now at its lowest since 2011. The sector has seen a dramatic decline in recent years. In 2019, it generated $6.7 billion in economic activity and supported over 75,000 jobs. In 2024, those numbers shrank to $3.7 billion and 35,000, despite Canada's global reputation for quality language education and its recognition as a top destination for English and French language learning. "Canada's immigration system has become unpredictable and unwelcoming," said Gonzalo Peralta, Executive Director of Languages Canada. "Students and their families now see Canada as too risky, and institutions are finding that Official Languages programs are no longer financially viable." A Policy Crisis of Canada's Own Making In 2024 alone, 13 major changes were made to IRCC's International Student Program, all in response to issues unrelated to language education, such as housing and workforce gaps. Yet none considered the impact on Canada's Official Languages programs, which play a unique and strategic role in national infrastructure, productivity and identity. These programs were not responsible for housing shortages (most students live with Canadian families during their studies) and did not displace Canadian workers (language students are not allowed to work). Nevertheless, they have borne the brunt of poorly targeted policies. The most recent policy change prevents Official Languages students from transitioning smoothly into post-secondary programs, dismantling long-standing and effective pathways between Canadian institutions. This not only undermines decades of successful collaboration but also puts students and their families in precarious situations. As Peralta observes, "We rightly express concern when Canadian students are denied opportunities in the U.S. due to unfair policies—but the truth is, tens of thousands of international students already in Canada are now facing similar injustices here."Retention, Productivity, and Integration at Stake Research shows that international students completing language programs before entering post-secondary studies in Canada have higher GPAs and better retention outcomes, offering a measurable return on investment for institutions. These programs also foster better integration into communities, and a safer and more productive workforce. "Language is not just a learning outcome—it's national infrastructure," added Peralta. "It drives academic success, workplace productivity, and social cohesion." A Loss of Identity Beyond economics and student success, the erosion of Canada's Official Languages education sector represents a profound cultural loss. Canada's bilingual identity is a cornerstone of its values and global brand. As language programs disappear, so too does Canada's commitment to inclusion, diversity, and shared identity through its Official Languages. As Peralta concludes: "My hope is that our newly elected government asks how Official Languages education can be a strategic advantage to the country, as infrastructure to reaffirm Canadian identity, support productivity in all sectors, and foster inclusive and socially cohesive communities." About Languages Canada Languages Canada is the voice of Canada's official languages education providers. Our 170 members include English and French public college and university language programs and private language schools, located across nine provinces. Collectively, they welcomed 97,000 international and domestic students into Canadian classrooms and communities in 2024 (down from 150,000 in 2019). Languages Canada members are committed to operating in accordance with the LC Quality Assurance Framework and Accreditation Scheme, which are rooted in student protection, quality education, and ethical business practice. English cricket goes into bat with bulk of £520m Hundred windfall

English cricket's governing body will on Wednesday hail a landmark moment for the sport when it announces that three-quarters of the deals to bring in new investors to The Hundred have been completed. Sky News understands that the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) plans to issue a statement confirming that it has received proceeds from the sale of stakes in Birmingham Phoenix, London Spirit, Manchester Originals, Northern Superchargers, Southern Brave and Welsh Fire. The two other franchise deals - involving the Oval Invincibles and Nottinghamshire's Trent Rockets - will be completed on October 1, the ECB is expected to say. One insider said a statement was likely to be issued on Wednesday, although they cautioned that the timing could slip. When all eight deals are concluded, they will generate a collective windfall of £520m for the sport's strained coffers. Last week, Sky News revealed that unresolved talks between India's richest family and Surrey County Cricket Club - which hosts the Oval Invincibles Hundred team - were threatening to delay the delivery of a vast windfall for the sport. One of the outstanding issues relates to the name under which the Oval Invincibles will play in future years, with the Ambani family keen to use a derivative of the Mumbai Indians brand that it also owns. This week's announcement will come after months of talks after the ECB and the eight Hundred-playing counties agreed exclusivity periods with their preferred investors. The backers include some of the world's most prominent financiers, billionaires and technology executives. Following protracted talks, the ECB has agreed to revised terms with the investors, with host venues now retaining control of their teams' intellectual property rights. The investors will also hold an effective veto over future expansion of the Hundred, while the ECB will be barred from launching any other short-form professional version of the sport while the Hundred remains operational. Meanwhile, the governing body will retain full ownership of the competition itself as well as controlling the regulation of it and the window within which it can be played each year. The ECB has been waiting for investors in the eight franchises to sign participation agreements since an auction in February which valued the participating teams at just over £975m. Some of the deals involve the investors owning 49% of their respective franchise, while India's Sun TV Network has taken full ownership of Yorkshire's Northern Superchargers. The proceeds of its stake sales will be distributed to all of English cricket's professional counties as well as £50m being delivered to the grassroots game. The windfalls are being seen as a lifeline for many cash-strapped counties which have been struggling under significant debt piles for many years. The most valuable Hundred sale saw a group of technology tycoons, including executives from Google and Microsoft, paying about £145m for a 49% stake in Lords-based London Spirit. This year's kicks off next week with fixtures including a clash between the two London-based franchises. The ECB declined to comment.
