NH-65 To Get Six Lanes All The Way To Vijayawada West Bypass, Details Inside

The original plan to expand the NH-65 only up to Amaravati Outer Ring Road (ORR) has now been changed.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has given the green signal to extend six-laning works on NH-65 all the way up to the Vijayawada West Bypass near Gollapudi.
This decision comes as a change from the earlier plan which only proposed widening the road up to Amaravati Outer Ring Road (ORR).
Why Was the Plan Changed?
As per TOI, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, confirmed the update in a letter to Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni). He stated that while the initial proposal was to avoid extra land acquisition, a public meeting held on 13 June pushed for full expansion.
Stakeholders strongly demanded the road be widened further till the West Bypass to improve connectivity and avoid traffic bottlenecks.
Taking note of this, NHAI directed its Detailed Project Report (DPR) consultant to revise the alignment and prepare a new report for the full stretch. The DPR is expected to be ready by the end of August.
What's Next for the Project?
RK Singh, Regional Manager, NHAI Andhra Pradesh, confirmed that the project is now firmly on track.
Why Is This Important?
The six-laning of NH-65 is set to drastically cut down travel time between Hyderabad and Vijayawada. It will not only ease traffic but also improve road safety, making the commute between the two Telugu capitals faster and more comfortable than ever.

Grounded British fighter jet to fly back on Tuesday

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 21 (PTI) The British Royal Navy F-35B Lightning fighter jet, which made an emergency landing at the international airport here over a month ago and parked here since then, is all set to fly back home on Tuesday, sources said. According to airport sources here, the repair works of the jet, part of the UK's most advanced stealth fleet, were completed. 'It is being brought out of the hangar now. The jet will be brought to our bay, and it will fly back on Tuesday," a source said. The exact time of its return is yet to be available, he said. Known to be one of the most advanced fighter aircraft in the world and worth over USD 110 million, the jet has remained grounded at the international airport here since June 14 after it developed a technical snag. Later, aviation engineers from the UK arrived here to carry out the necessary repairs. The source said the British jet has been kept at the hangar of Air India all these days. 'The equipment and crew who came for its maintenance will go back in another flight," the source added. Nelamangala–Tumakuru highway update: Service road to open by June 2026, road widening to be completed by March 2027

Commuters travelling between Nelamangala and Tumakuru can expect some relief as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) plans to open the service road by June 2026 while the entire highway widening project is now slated for completion by March 2027. The widening of the 44.04-km stretch of National Highway 48, from the Nelamangala toll gate to Tumakuru, had come to a halt due to prolonged land acquisition issues. Although work resumed in April this year after a six-month break, commuters remain frustrated as the service roads were originally scheduled for completion by August 2025. Launched in August 2022, the project involves expanding the existing four-lane carriageway to six lanes, and constructing two-lane service roads on either side to convert the highway into an access-controlled road. The plan was to first complete the service roads and divert traffic, thereby enabling smoother execution of work on the main carriageway. However, the execution hit major roadblocks due to land acquisition challenges. According to NHAI officials, there were land gaps at 35 different points. These arose from a combination of reasons — landowners not being compensated, certain properties not being included in official acquisition notifications, and resistance from landowners. These hurdles forced the project contractor to temporarily halt work. An NHAI official said, 'The delay was primarily due to land acquisition not going as planned. But most of these issues have now been sorted out, and the contractor has resumed work.' Now, NHAI is moving forward with a revised timeline. Officials aim to finish the service roads by mid-2026, and complete the entire road widening work by March 2027. The Tumakuru road is a vital corridor linking Bengaluru to central and northern parts of Karnataka, which is why the delays have inconvenienced thousands of daily commuters. 'The ongoing construction has caused severe inconvenience for drivers, particularly those commuting daily. We understand road work takes time, but there should be better planning. It's been more than two years, and we're still struggling on a half-dug-up highway,' said Muniyappa S., a Tumakuru-based businessperson.
