Christian Yelich belts tie-breaking homer in Brewers' win
June 3 - Christian Yelich hit a tie-breaking solo homer in the third inning and the visiting Milwaukee Brewers held on to win their eighth in a row, 3-2, against the Cincinnati Reds in the opener of their three-game series on Monday evening.
Sal Frelick had two hits and a run scored for the Brewers, who haven't won eight in a row since a nine-game winning streak in August of 2023.
Brewers right-hander Aaron Civale (1-1) allowed two runs and seven hits over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out five and walked one in his fourth start of the season.
Reds starter Brady Singer (6-4) went five innings, allowing three runs and four hits while striking out four and walking three.
TJ Friedl had two hits and scored a run in the leadoff spot for the Reds, who have lost four of five.
Friedl doubled to begin the bottom of the first and scored on a single to center by Elly De La Cruz to give the Reds a 1-0 lead.
After a single to right by Tyler Stephenson put runners on the corners, Spencer Steer rolled a bunt up the first base line that Milwaukee catcher William Contreras fielded, but his throw to first while sliding on his backside went into right field, allowing De La Cruz to score for a 2-0 lead.
Andruw Monasterio doubled into the left-center field gap with one out in the second to put runners on second and third for Milwaukee. Singer then walked back-to-back batters to force in a run and cut it to 2-1.
A sacrifice fly by Brice Turang brought home another run in the inning and tied it 2-2.
With two outs in the third, Yelich hit a full-count slider deep over the fence in center to give the Brewers a 3-2 lead.
Rob Zastryzny got the final two outs of the sixth for the Brewers, Jared Koenig worked a scoreless seventh, Abner Uribe did the same in the eighth, and Trevor Megill pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his 12th save.
Brewers' pitching fanned 11 Cincinnati hitters and walked only two.

June 5 - Merrill Kelly allowed only one hit over seven scoreless innings and the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks held on to defeat the Atlanta Braves 2-1 on Wednesday for their third straight win. It was Sale's first career loss to the Diamondbacks. Arizona scored in the third inning. The Kelce brothers welcomed the four-time NBA legend to their New Heights podcast this week for a lengthy chat on a range of topics, from Taylor Swift to the Super Bowl. And another surprising topic that surfaced was Travis and Shaq's respective attempts to tackle the spiciest foods they can possibly find. Kelce asked O'Neal how 'the One Chip Challenge' compared to eating 'Da Bomb' on Hot Ones, where guests are interviewed over spicy wings. And while guests often go viral when they appear on that show, they were both in agreement that the 'One Chip Challenge' was the hardest. Guests are required to eat a single Carolina Reaper 'Paqui' chip and wait for as long as possible before drinking anything. 'That f***ing, that was the craziest experience I have ever been through,' Kelce, who did the challenge in 2018, said. 'That was the worst experience ever. That ruined me for three days straight. I was s****ing out fire. It was ridiculous.' 'I did too,' O'Neal said, reflecting on his attempt at the challenge live on TNT. 'I drank water (before eating the chip) and the water activated it. My throat started closing.' Kelce even wore a headband for the One Chip Challenge to soak up the sweat and was immediately in discomfort when he ate the chip. 'I've always wanted to breathe fire like a Pokemon,' he joked. 'Burning is an understatement. 'Frankly, I had no f***ing clue what I was getting myself into. Everything is shaking.' Kelce, who was pictured out to dinner with Swift on Wednesday night in Palm Springs, is slowly starting to ramp up his preparations for the 2025 NFL season. He was at the Chiefs' facility for voluntary OTAs last week as he builds up to try and avenge February's emphatic Super Bowl loss to Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs begin the upcoming season against the Los Angeles Chargers in Sao Paulo, Brazil on September 5. Kelce joked on a recent New Heights show that he didn't want to play in Brazil, telling older brother Jason: 'There's just something about getting close to the equator, I don't want to put on football uniform. I've been in Jacksonville in September, that's f***ing miserable. ''Sao Paulo, is that by the water? I'd rather it be dry than humid, I'm a sweaty guy. If it is humid, I am going to be miserable. But I am going to find a way to get a win. 'I am going to be sweating so bad. I am going to have to ask the equipment guys for a couple jerseys, maybe three pairs of pants. Maybe four cleats, I might just go through a pair.'
