Boat parked illegally in Haliburton Highlands
In the dead of night, three people in their boat crashed into an island in Haliburton.
The boaters suffered non-life-threatening injuries after their boat hit a rocky island in the middle of Kennisis Lake early Sunday morning.
Provincial police charged a 20-year-old woman with operating a boat while impaired.
Haliburton Highlands OPP would like to remind everyone to practice safe boating, including wearing a life jacket and staying sober while on the water.
OPP officers are patrolling roadways and waterways throughout the summer to help keep Ontario communities safe.

More violations Monday The following morning, at about 6:45 a.m., police stopped a motorcycle on Third Avenue after observing it speeding and producing excessive noise. Police confirmed the rider was the same individual from the previous day's stop. Penalties and charges As a result, the 26-year-old motorist was charged with driving while under suspension, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, careless driving, driving without plates, driving a motorcycle without a proper rear light, failing to surrender a vehicle permit and producing unnecessary noise. Additionally, the motorcycle was impounded for seven days at the owner's expense. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 2. In a social media post related to the incident, OPP Const. Kyler Brouwer urged motorists to 'Drive safe.'

Man in critical condition after stabbing in Kensington Market
A man was taken to hospital in critical condition after a stabbing in Kensington Market early Sunday morning. Officers responded to reports of a person being stabbed around 5 a.m. near Bellevue Avenue and Denison Square, Toronto police said in a post on X. When police arrived, they found a man in his 40s "serious stab wounds," the post read. He was taken to hospital in critical condition. Wales Avenue is closed near Augusta Avenue Sunday morning, police said. Bellevue Square Park also remained closed to the public as of 1 p.m. Sunday.

B.C. trucker charged with stunt driving in northern Ont.

(Supplied/Ontario Provincial Police) A commercial truck driver from British Columbia faces stunt driving charges after being caught speeding in northern Ontario last week. Ontario Provincial Police stopped the driver at around 4 a.m. on July 29 on Government Road in Kapuskasing. Police observed the commercial motor vehicle travelling at 104 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone – 44 km/h over the speed limit. The 32-year-old man from Surrey, B.C., was charged with stunt driving. Additionally, under Ontario's traffic laws, the tractor portion of the vehicle was impounded for 14 days and the driver's licence was suspended for 30 days. The motorist is scheduled to appear in court in Kapuskasing on Sept. 23 to answer to the charge. Stunt driving penalties and enforcement In Ontario, stunt driving includes driving 40 km/h or more over the speed limit on roads with a posted limit under 80 km/h. The offence also covers dangerous behaviours such as racing and intentionally cutting off other vehicles. 'These high-risk actions endanger everyone on the road,' said police in a news release Sunday. 'The OPP remains committed to saving lives on roads, waterways, and trails by enforcing traffic laws and promoting safe driving habits.'
