Head of Civil Service Bureau: All Appointments Will Be Competitive Through Stock or Open Announcements - Jordan News

Jordan News27-03-2025

The head of the Civil Service Bureau, Fayez Al-Nahar, announced on Thursday the issuance of the basic competitive list for the employment request stock, which will be used to fill 30% of the vacancies in ministries, departments, and government institutions for the year 2025. اضافة اعلان Al-Nahar added during a press conference that the remaining appointments will be through open competition according to announcements issued by government departments on their official websites, government advertisement websites, and daily newspapers. He explained that applicants in the stock can apply for the announced jobs if they meet the conditions for filling those positions, regardless of their rank or competitive standing at the Civil Service Bureau. Al-Nahar indicated that the fundamental transformations witnessed by the human resources system in line with the public sector modernization roadmap will completely end the stock system and fully transition to open announcements with the issuance of the 2027 organizational chart. All appointments will then be based on free competition and competencies. He pointed out that according to Civil Service System No. (9) of 2020 and its amendments, the Civil Service Bureau (formerly the Civil Service Diwan) ceased accepting new job applications as of the end of November 2023. Therefore, the stock only includes those who submitted job applications before that date. Regarding the characteristics and statistics of the employment request stock, Al-Nahar clarified that it includes approximately 465,000 individuals seeking employment in government departments and institutions, which is a decrease of about 20,000 applications compared to 2024. This reduction is attributed to changes in the stock due to appointments in various sectors, withdrawals, or failure to meet the acceptance criteria according to the system's provisions. He emphasized that the employment request stock does not reflect unemployment statistics or the number of people out of work, as more than 40% of the applicants have records in social security, indicating that they are employed in the private sector or other sectors, but they still have the right to compete for jobs in the public sector. Al-Nahar further noted that the majority of the employment requests are from females, making up more than 70%, while 87% of the applications are from those holding a bachelor's degree or higher. The remaining applications are from those with a comprehensive diploma. The requests are mostly concentrated in the capital, Amman (29%), followed by Irbid governorate (24%) and Zarqa (12%). The rest of the requests are distributed across other governorates and regions. He added that, starting Thursday evening, March 27, applicants can inquire about their competitive positions for the current year through the Civil Service Bureau's website (WWW.SPAC.GOV.JO) or the National Contact Center at (5008080). He also mentioned that, to enhance principles of transparency and openness, the Bureau had previously published a preliminary competitive list for the year 2025 during the period from March 5 to 13, 2025, for 8 days, on its website and all its digital platforms. This was done to allow applicants to review their data, especially related to phone numbers, actual place of residence, and academic qualifications, and submit any corrections if needed through the provided feedback link. This process was fully automated, and no physical presence at the Bureau was required. The electronic service was developed to update the competitive list for this year, aiming to save time and effort for job applicants.
Al-Nahar confirmed that applicants are responsible for the accuracy of the data in the list. He mentioned that about 2,875 comments were received during the trial period, and they were reviewed by a specialized technical committee and reflected in the main list. Al-Nahar also indicated that, for the purpose of refining and updating the competitive list's data in coordination with relevant authorities, the Bureau's teams had made significant efforts in verifying applicants' data and following up with official agencies to ensure the accuracy of the requests.

He also described Morocco as a key gateway for Jordanian companies seeking access to African markets. Al-Haj Tawfiq stressed the importance of streamlined visa procedures and closer cooperation with the Moroccan Embassy to facilitate business travel and joint trade events. Ambassador Akhrif acknowledged the strength of political ties between Jordan and Morocco but noted that economic relations remain underdeveloped by comparison. He proposed holding a business forum in Morocco to bring together companies from both countries, focusing on promising sectors that could support trade and investment partnerships. Akhrif also highlighted Morocco's investment opportunities and encouraged Jordanian businesses to leverage existing bilateral agreements and participate in trade missions. Chamber board members emphasized the need to implement and update bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding, noting that deeper cooperation could lead to expanded trade, greater diversification of exchanged goods, and stronger collaboration in tourism, transportation, and logistics. However, they noted that the current sea freight route is inefficient due to its length and called for the development of faster, more reliable transport links.

Ministry of Agriculture Announces Indicative Prices for Eid Al-Adha Sacrificial Animals - Jordan News

The Ministry of Agriculture has announced the opening of imports for live sacrificial animals from Syria, as part of efforts to boost supply in local markets and stabilize prices ahead of Eid Al-Adha. اضافة اعلان According to the ministry's spokesperson, Lawrence Al-Majali, in a radio statement, importing live Syrian kids (young goats) has been approved and they are now available in local markets as an option for Eid sacrifices. He added that importing live sheep from Syria is currently limited to the military institution only, noting that this decision is part of the ministry's policy to diversify sources of sacrificial animals and reduce pressure on domestic production. Al-Majali highlighted that most sacrificial animals in Jordan are of local origin, in addition to imported animals from countries such as Romania, Australia, and Spain. He emphasized that importing from Syria helps balance supply and demand during the Eid season and enhances citizens' ability to purchase sacrifices at reasonable prices. Sacrificial Animal Prices Al-Majali noted that the livestock market in Jordan is witnessing an unprecedented abundance this year, with about 580,000 heads of local and imported sheep available, while the market demand is estimated at only 250,000 to 300,000 heads. He also shared indicative prices for sacrifices: The average price for a medium-sized imported sacrifice ranges between 200 to 225 Jordanian Dinars. The local sacrifice ranges between 220 to 260 Dinars, depending on supply, demand, and availability. He clarified that these prices are indicative, not fixed, and based on market conditions. Prices usually start to drop after the afternoon of the first day of Eid and continue to decline during the following Tashreeq days. Al-Majali urged citizens to shop around and compare prices before buying, noting that there are over 400 livestock sale points in Amman alone, in addition to other sites across the kingdom.
