'Outrageously good': Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson loses her mind over $19 sandwich at little-known Sydney deli
Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson has officially crowned what she believes to be the best sandwich in Sydney.
The British food icon, 65, took to Instagram on Tuesday to wax lyrical about a $19 creation from Smalls Deli in Surry Hills, known simply as the 'Toto'.
"I've been in Sydney for a while now, and so it was past time for my customary pilgrimage to @smallsdeli," she wrote alongside a snap of the sandwich in progress.
"Delayed gratification is not really my thing! But my patience was rewarded by this gorgeous creation, the Toto- or maybe it should be the Totò, since it's named for the mononymous Italian actor- sandwich."
Nigella described the sandwich in mouth-watering detail: "Spread with lemony butter bean purée and pesto, it's bulgingly stuffed with mortadella and mozzarella, exuberantly sprinkled with chopped toasted almonds, and topped with peppery rocket.
"Though it looked so beautiful as it was being made I had to photograph it like this, before the rocket went on and this epic sandwich was closed up.
"Then, of course, the only thing on my mind was eating it!"
While it might be delicious, the Toto doesn't necessiciarly come cheap- priced at $19.
Smalls Deli was clearly thrilled with the celebrity nod, resharing Nigella's post with a heart emoji and the caption "PINCH ME".
Fans were equally enthused.
"It really is the best sandwich in Sydney!" one follower commented, while another said: "love love love @smallsdeli".
The renowned British chef and author has been zipping around Australia since early May, sharing her favourite foodie finds from coast to coast, and keeping her three million followers hungry for more.
"I can never stay away from Australia for long," she told fans in March, ahead of her visit.
After touching down in Western Australia on May 5, Nigella headed straight to Margaret River's iconic Cullen Wines.
"What does any wise person do on arriving in Margaret River? Why, go straight for lunch at @cullenwines, of course! That's my cure for jet lag and my recipe for deep joy," she said.
She also raved about Perth's acclaimed Italian eatery Lulu La Delizia, which came recommended by former MasterChef judge Matt Moran.
"Last year when I was asking for Perth restaurant recommendations, @mattscravat sent me to @lululadelizia where I plumped for their 6-course feast menu, and left full of fabulous food and immense gratitude towards both Melbourne Matt and the Perth Prince of Pasta @joelvalvasori!" she wrote.
Her glowing review included a special mention of the restaurant's prawn orecchiette: "I've been feasting on the memory… ever since."
Once in Sydney, Lawson made a beeline for Potts Point favourite Fratelli Paradiso.
"Walking through the doors after a year away just felt like coming home," she said.
"I love everything about this place: great people, great mood, great food.
"…Purring with pleasure, and planning when I can come back for more."

Don't miss out on the headlines from Royals. Followed categories will be added to My News. IN LONDON Meghan has opened up about her struggles as a working mother, crediting Prince Harry with helping her keep the 'balance' in their lives. In a bonus episode of her podcast Confessions of a Female Founder, released on Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex told guest Tina Knowles (AKA Beyoncé's mum), that keeping everything in check while working towards a goal is 'one of the hardest lessons' to earn. Meghan went on to detail some of her strategies for slowing down and being present in her life, including simply '[taking] a minute to breathe' and 'having a date night'. She added: '[Harry and I] have a date night tonight.' Meghan released a bonus episode of her podcast. Picture: Instagram It featured Tina Knowles. Picture:MORE:'Lonely': Insiders lift lid on Harry's sad life While Meghan didn't elaborate on their plans, it comes just a few weeks after the pair was spotted looking cosy at Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour stop in Los Angeles. She shared an album of pictures on Instagram afterwards, writing: 'About last night …. Thank you Beyonce and team for an amazing concert (and a very fun date night)! All love.' The parents-of-two also celebrated their seven-year wedding anniversary on May 19, with Meghan posting a series of never-before-seen shots online. The couple was spotted at Beyoncé's LA concert. Picture: Instagram Meghan shared the intimate snaps online. Picture: Instagram MORE: Harry, Meghan's insane US costs exposed Her latest podcast episode follows a new report that Meghan extended an invitation to country singer Dolly Parton to appear on her Netflix series but was turned down. The first season of the Duchess of Sussex's show, With Love, Meghan, was released in March and featured eight episodes, each with different guests. According to royal and entertainment commentator Kinsey Schofield, the country singer's team was 'livid' at the request. 'Because no, they don't want to risk Dolly's reputation Q score [and] her popularity by associating with Meghan Markle,' she alleged in a recent podcast episode of The Nerve with Maureen Callahan. 'They knew that this ask was just to give Meghan Markle credibility in this lifestyle space, a space that Dolly does have a lot of credibility in. 'Dolly is not only incredibly popular and loved by the general public, but she also is somebody who can float around within these different places. 'Her team really feels like Meghan was trying to take advantage of her popularity.' Originally published as Meghan reveals 'hardest part' of new job and how Prince Harry helps

Son's intuition reveals Aussie Olympic gold medallist's pregnancy
Australian Winter Olympic gold medallist Torah Bright has announced she is pregnant with her third child. The 38-year-old former snowboarder has two sons with husband Angus Thomson — and she says it was their eldest who first revealed the latest addition. Bright said they are 'so excited' to become a family of five. 'The boys are hyped and so sweet with their baby growing in my belly!' she wrote. On Wednesday, Bright said they are not learning the gender until the baby arrives. 'But I'm feeling a third boy,' she said. The dual Olympic halfpipe medallist also shared that son Flow 'knew I was pregnant before I actually was'. 'A whole month before I conceived, he was telling people I had a baby in my belly,' Bright wrote. 'Maybe he already knows who this little soul is.' If you'd like to view this content, please adjust your . To find out more about how we use cookies, please see our Cookie Guide. Bright said younger son Halo has also connected with the baby. 'Every night, Halo falls asleep holding my belly — and every morning, he wakes up and kisses it,' she said. 'Our hearts are expanding, and so is our family. So deeply grateful for this growing love. #PregnancyMagic #IntuitiveKids.' Bright made headlines in 2021 when she uploaded a photo of her breastfeeding baby Flow while performing a handstand to celebrate her first Mother's Day. 'Becoming a mother has unleashed something inside of me,' she wrote in the caption. 'It's deeply spiritual. It's primal. It's raw. it's fierce. It is pure.' The post immediately went viral, prompting Bright to address the negative reaction in a video. Bright shared an Instagram story clarifying the post. Credit: Instagram She said it was 'just a little bit of pure fun' and 'celebrating the bond between mother and child'. She also said she could 'understand how it's not everyone's taste' but lamented the judgement. 'Mothers, we need to encourage each other,' she said in the Instagram video. 'We need to lift each other up. We need to pay each other compliments. 'We need to support each other. We need to be each other's biggest cheerleaders because motherhood is so beautiful, but the reality is we are the only ones who know just how hard those hard moments are. 'And we need to have each other's back. Not compare each other and judge each other, because we all do think so differently. That's why it's so beautiful.' She finished the video by asking: 'But did anyone really think that's how I breastfed?'

Bethenny Frankel: I look like a train wreck most of the time
Bethenny Frankel looks like "a train wreck most of the time". The 54-year-old reality TV star recently wore a thong bikini bottom at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Swim Week runway show in Miami, and Bethenny believes there's an unhealthy fascination with her appearance. In a video posted on Instagram, Bethenny explained: "I guess we have to discuss what I looked like on that runway because the internet is so fascinated with my age, my weight, my face, my hair. "Listen, I can tell you with great certainty that every woman that was with me on that stage did not look that way two hours prior." Bethenny insists she's "never been vain" and admitted that she looks very different at home. She said: "I look like a train wreck most of the time. That's me. That's what I want." Bethenny also rubbished suggestions that she's recently undergone cosmetic surgery. The reality TV star explained: "My body is natural. "I don't do weights. And the reason my body is natural is because the exercise I do and have always done for my body is natural. I'll go months without exercise and definitely days without doing anything but I always come back to it." Bethenny also urged her Instagram followers to develop a "good relationship with food and exercise". She said: "I want you to allow yourselves to have, but not beat yourselves up when you do indulge. And I want you to have a good relationship with food and exercise and that doesn't mean being screamed at in a gym or beating yourself up and telling yourself that you have to kill yourself. You don't. It's healthier to just be healthy." Bethenny previously claimed that honesty and authenticity have been the keys to her success. Speaking to ADWEEK, she explained: "Be honest, be authentic - this is what I'm doing." Bethenny considers herself to be an "accidental influencer" - but the reality star also insisted there's real skill to her success. Bethenny said: "I see a lot of entrepreneurs and business owners that can't help but want to promote themselves. But not everybody can do it, and you have to really know if you can. It has to land."
