Bellinghams are most highly-coveted brothers in the game

Yahoo9 hours ago
Jude and Jobe Bellingham became the first brothers ever to both score at a Club World Cup last weekend - and their combined market value is currently an eye-watering €207 million, according to Playmaker.
Signed by Borussia Dortmund this summer, Jobe scored on his first start for 'BWB' in the Bundesliga side's 4-3 win over Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday before big brother Jude hit the target for Real Madrid in Los Blancos' 3-1 success over Pachuca on Sunday.

The comparisons between the brothers are inevitable, particularly given the fact that Jude also scored on his first start for Dortmund back in 2020 when he netted in a 5-0 German Cup win over Duisburg.
With older brother Jude now valued by Playmaker at a whopping €185m and Jobe given a market price of €22m, the Bellinghams are certainly hot property - and they are currently the most highly coveted brothers in the business.
World's most highly-valued brothers (based on Playmaker valuations)
Here is the podium for superstar brothers as it currently stands:
The Bellinghams (combined market value of €207 million)

Having both come through the Birmingham City academy, the Bellingham brothers have both been on a stratospheric career path from their early teens - and Jobe's summer move to Dortmund from Sunderland paves the way for him to elevate his game to another level in the Bundesliga next term. Still only 21, Jude Bellingham has established himself as a dyed-in-the-wool Galactico at Real Madrid and it will be interesting to see if 19-year-old Jobe can progress into the senior England squad and play with his brother on the international stage soon. Since the 1950s, only three sets of brothers have played for the Three Lions: Nathaniel Chalobah and Trevoh Chalobah, Gary Neville and Phil Neville, and Bobby and Jack Charlton.
The Mbappés (combined market value of €185 million)
He made something of a slow start, and failed to win any major trophies, during his first season at Real Madrid, but Kylian Mbappé is still generally regarded as one of, if not the, best player in the world and 45 goals in 53 games for Los Blancos underlined his stellar ability. Former PSG academy graduate Ethan, in contrast, is very much in the process of making his name - the midfielder making 10 appearances for Lille in Ligue 1 last term. Kylian's market value of €180m does most of the heavy lifting in terms of this valuable pair - but Ethan's value has climbed to €5m on the back of his progress last term.
The Thurams (combined market value of €121 million)

A more evenly-balanced pair of superstar brothers sits third in our list of 'Galactico Bros': Marcus and Khephren Thuram. Both capped at senior level by France, Inter powerhouse Marcus and Juventus midfielder Khephren both came from good stock given their father Lilian was a World Cup winner and enjoyed a glittering club career for the likes of Monaco, Juventus and Barcelona. Valued at €79m by playmaker, Marcus hit 18 goals from Champions League finalists Inter last term, while Khephren - who has a market value of €42m - played 49 games for Juve in his first season in Turin. The brothers have actually played against each other on three occasions in their careers...with older brother Marcus yet to finish on the winning side!

Report: Liverpool set £50m price as Newcastle eye winger

Harvey Elliott to Newcastle? Ornstein Reveals Magpies Lead the Chase Newcastle United have emerged as front-runners in the pursuit of Harvey Elliott, with David Ornstein of The Athletic reporting that the Magpies are ahead of European challengers RB Leipzig in the race for the Liverpool winger. After a frustrating 2024/25 season in which Elliott managed just two Premier League starts—both coming after Liverpool had already secured the title—his Anfield future looks increasingly uncertain. Advertisement Despite limited club action this season, Elliott's star rose on the international stage this summer. The 22-year-old was named Player of the Tournament at the Under-21 European Championship, netting five goals and playing a pivotal role in England's triumph. His performances reignited interest across Europe, but it's Newcastle's Champions League qualification that places them firmly in pole position. Newcastle's Advantage Over Leipzig According to Ornstein, Elliott's desire to compete at an elite level is central to his decision-making. 'Elliott wants to operate at an elite level if leaving Liverpool,' Ornstein wrote, with Champions League football cited as a key motivator. While RB Leipzig, backed by Jurgen Klopp in his new role as head of global soccer for Red Bull, have shown interest, their absence from European football next season leaves them trailing. Photo: IMAGO Advertisement Eddie Howe, a known admirer of Elliott has a big advantage to offer over RB Leipzig, their ability to offer top-tier European football, combined with Howe's vision, makes Tyneside an attractive destination for the versatile left-footer. Liverpool's Price Tag and Buy-Back Clause The transfer fee could prove decisive. Ornstein reports: 'Liverpool would want any deal for Elliott to produce a fee in excess of £40m plus a buy-back option, or above £50m without one.' Given Howe's long-term plans, he may push for a clean deal without a buy-back clause, potentially stretching to the £50m mark. Selling Elliott at such a price would represent 'pure profit' for Liverpool due to his homegrown status. These deals significantly boost a club's financial muscle within FFP constraints—something that could fund further reinforcements for Arne Slot's Reds. Our View – EPL Index Analysis From a Newcastle United supporter's perspective, the idea of bringing in Harvey Elliott is both exciting and pragmatic. At just 22, Elliott already boasts European tournament honours, top-tier Premier League experience, and a playing style that aligns well with Eddie Howe's system. Advertisement The need for creativity and control in wide areas has become evident over the past season, especially with injuries to key players and an over-reliance on Isak and Gordon. Elliott's ability to operate between the lines, coupled with his eye for goal—as demonstrated in the Under-21 Euros—could add a new dimension to the squad. The reported £50m fee is significant, but considering Elliott's age, homegrown status, and resale potential, it's an investment with long-term benefits. More importantly, fans would back a deal without a buy-back clause; if Newcastle are building for the future, it makes sense to retain full control over rising talents. Some supporters may be concerned about the Isak angle—rightly so. If his sale becomes a consequence of funding Elliott's arrival, it could spark unrest. Isak has been central to Newcastle's return to Europe and would be tough to replace. However, if it's part of a broader restructuring strategy to comply with financial rules while deepening the squad, it may be a necessary sacrifice.

Leverkusen signs England Under-21 defender Jarell Quansah from Liverpool

Associated Press LEVERKUSEN, Germany (AP) — Bayer Leverkusen has replaced former captain Jonathan Tah with Jarell Quansah from Liverpool in a club-record signing for a defender. The 22-year-old Quansah signed a contract through June 2030 and will wear Tah's former No. 4 shirt, the Bundesliga club said Wednesday. The reported fee of more than 30 million euros ($35.3 million) rising to 40 million ($47 million) with bonuses corresponds roughly with what Liverpool agreed to pay Leverkusen for Netherlands right back Jeremie Frimpong in May. Liverpool reportedly secured a buy-back option for Quansah for more than 60 million euros ($70.6 million) after he has spent two seasons at Leverkusen. Leverkusen also sold star player Florian Wirtz to Liverpool last month for a Bundesliga-record fee. Tah switched to league rival Bayern Munich once the season concluded after declining to extend his contract. He had spent a decade at Leverkusen and was a key part of the team which won the Bundesliga and German Cup unbeaten in 2023-24. Quansah won the Under-21 European Championship with England last week. But he was unable to establish himself as a regular starter at Liverpool ahead of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate. 'One of the most promising English central defenders. He's fast, agile, a good footballer,' Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes said of Quansah. 'He has already made an impressive impact in a Liverpool defense dominated by world-class players. With Jarell, our defense gains significant dynamism, pace and toughness in tackling, and he's another very important building block." Leverkusen last week also signed Abdoulaye Faye for a reported fee of 3 million euros ($3.5 million) from Swedish team BK Hacken, with the 20-year-old Senegalese defender expected to go on loan for the upcoming season. ___ AP soccer: recommended
