"Will fight for state's welfare under KCR's leadership": BRS leader Madhusudhana Chary on Telangana Statehood Day
He said the BRS, under the leadership of K Chandrasekhar Rao, will continue to fight for the welfare of the people and hold the ruling party accountable for its unfulfilled promises.
Speaking to ANI, Madhusudhana Chary said, 'The TRS, under the leadership of K Chandrasekhar Rao, fought for 14 long years to get Telangana statehood. KCR played a key role in pressuring the Centre and uniting all political parties, which finally led to the formation of Telangana on June 2, 2014. He became the first Chief Minister and made Telangana a model state with top rankings in per capita income, power usage, and development. But after we lost power in December 2023, the Congress government brought the state into a miserable condition. In my 40 years of politics, I have never seen such a bad government. They have failed to deliver even a single promise. We, under KCR's leadership, will fight for the state's welfare and demand that the Congress government fulfil its promises.'
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings for Telangana Statehood Day.
He noted the state's contribution to the nation and wished the people 'success and prosperity'.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, 'Greetings to the wonderful people of Telangana on their Statehood Day. The state is known for making innumerable contributions to national progress.'
The Prime Minister said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the Centre has boosted 'Ease of Living' in the state.
'Over the last decade, the NDA Government has undertaken many measures to boost 'Ease of Living' for the people of the state. May the people of the state be blessed with success and prosperity,' PM Modi posted. (ANI)

Current agri loans over ₹28 lakh crore, but no waiver plan: Govt
The Centre has informed that agricultural loans worth over ₹ 28.5 lakh crore are outstanding but ruled out any plans for a waiver, minister of state in the ministry of finance Pankaj Chaudhary said in response to a question in Lok Sabha on Monday. Responding to Parliamentary questions by Lok Sabha MPs Supriya Sule (Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar, Maharashtra), Hanuman Beniwal (Rashtriya Loktantrik Party, Rajasthan) and others, the Ministry of Finance informed Monday that outstanding agricultural loans stood at ₹ 28,50,779.43 crore as of March 31, 2025. These are due from 1,762.96 lakh accounts. 'No proposal to waive off the outstanding agricultural loans, is under consideration with Union Government,' the government said. Meanwhile, it is important to note that farmer loans are different from other categories of lending such as personal loans but lately the stance of cooperative banks to insist on credit score for approval of loans has rattled farmers no end. However, it added that several measures have been taken 'to provide relief and to improve the economic conditions of the farmers which inter-alia includes timely and adequate credit through Kisan Credit Card (KCC) under which crop loan up to ₹ 3 lakh is provided at subsidized interest rates under the Modified Interest Subvention Scheme (MISS) with additional incentives for timely repayment, fixation of progressively increased agricultural credit target, issuance of revised Priority Sector Lending guidelines to ensure improved credit flow to the agricultural sector etc.' The top five states in terms of outstanding agricultural loans are Tamil Nadu: ₹ 4,03,367 crore; Andhra Pradesh: ₹ 3,08,716 crore; Maharashtra: ₹ 2,60,799 crore; Uttar Pradesh: ₹ 2,28,560 crore; Karnataka: ₹ 2,22,301 crore. The government said that the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) publication 'Accidental Deaths and Suicides in India' is available till the year 2022 but that it does not specify separate reasons for farmer suicides. The MPs had also asked 'whether any specific categories of farmers marginal, small, tenant, SC/ST are more burdened with outstanding loans and if so, the details thereof' to which the government said that 'NABARD All India Rural Financial Inclusion Survey (NAFIS) for the period of 2021-2022 indicates a generally positive relationship between landholding size and household indebtedness, with the proportion of indebted households increasing as land size increases, up to 1 hectare. Beyond this threshold, a marginal decline in the incidence of indebtedness is observed among households with larger landholdings.' He said that he wants to give a memorandum to Nitish, reminding him of his promise to the people of the state, and alleged that the government was refusing to hold a meeting with his party officials. Later, he informed that the chief secretary was talking with five senior leaders of his party. 'We want to peacefully give this memorandum of the people to the Chief Minister that in the last 2 years, he had promised to give Rs 2 lakh to 94 lakh families, but to date not a single family has received a single rupee," Kishor told news agency ANI. 'The fight has just begun. Three months are still left… People of Bihar want change and want to remove the corrupt. They cannot hide in the assembly and behind the police. Women in Andhra Pradesh will soon travel for free on buses. How much will it cost the exchequer?
The Chandrababu Naidu government's free bus scheme for women in Andhra Pradesh will cost the exchequer Rs 3,500 crore, officials have said. The scheme, which will be launched on August 15, is part of the Telugu Desam Party government's election 'Super Six' election guarantees, made ahead of the May 2024 election. Significantly, Telangana's Revanth Reddy scheme has also implemented a similar policy. Under the Naidu government's new bus scheme, 'Zero Fare Tickets', will be issued to all women travelling on state road transport corporation, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said. The ticket will include details such as the route travelled, the amount of money saved per trip through the free service, and the full 100 percent subsidy the government provides. Issuing Zero Fare Tickets would help women passengers clearly understand the benefit they are availing, the CM said. The CM also discussed financial aspects of the scheme in states with similar policies to understand how much it would cost, officials said, adding that the Naidu government is seeking more funds from the Centre while also exploring 'alternative revenue sources and reducing operational costs to become a profitable entity'. According to Minister for Transport, Youth Affairs and Sports Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, approximately 25 lakh women — a majority of them who travel for work including farm labour and daily wagers — will benefit from the scheme. 'Providing cost-free transportation increases their mobility, they can travel farther, and explore new opportunities,' he said. While the finer details of the scheme are still being worked out, sources say that luxury and premium segment bus services are likely to be excluded. 'He directed officials to come up with an action plan on the possible revenue-generating methods and the necessary policy changes. Simultaneously, the chief minister instructed officials to purchase only AC electric buses in the future. He noted that converting existing buses to electric buses would reduce maintenance costs and recommended that the required electricity be produced in-house,' one official said, adding that the chief minister 'emphasised the need to study the establishment of charging stations in all RTC depots across the state'. The Andhra Pradesh RTC has a fleet of about 11,000 buses, of which over 70 per cent are non-AC regular buses. According to estimates, the scheme will cost over Rs 200 crore/month. The scheme implemented by the neighbouring Telangana is estimated to cost the exchequer Rs 3,000 crore. In Telangana, the scheme is applicable to women, children, and transgender people. This comes at a time when the Naidu government is pushing for securing more funds for various schemes and key developmental projects in the state. Apart from the bus scheme, the TDP's `Super Six' guarantees promised three free LPG cylinders to eligible beneficiaries; Rs 3,000/month in unemployment allowance and Rs 15,000 for each school child; Rs 20,000 to farmers, and increasing social security pensions for people with disabilities.
