Sonal Vengurlekar to join the cast of Jamai No 1

Time of India30-04-2025
Sonal Vengurlekar
A new twist is about to unfold in Jamai No. 1, which features
Simaran Kaur
and
Abhishek Malik
as the lead couple. Joining the cast is
Sonal Vengurlekar
, last seen in
Lekar Hum Deewana Dil
, who steps into the role of Saili, Abhishek's childhood best friend.
Speaking about her character, Sonal says, 'I play the hero's childhood friend, much like Rahul and Anjali in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. After being separated for years, they finally reunite, only for her to discover that he's now married. While he still sees her as just a close friend, she's secretly in love with him. She ends up staying at his house and tries various ways to win his heart.'
Given the direction of the storyline, it seems her character might take a negative turn.
When asked about it, she says coyly, 'I can't reveal much about what's coming next. But it's definitely an interesting plot, one that I hope the audience will enjoy watching unfold.'
Joining a show midway isn't easy, but stepping in for a cameo can be even tougher. Sonal elaborates, 'It truly is a challenge. When you come in mid-way, you have to work extra hard to build chemistry with your co-actors and connect with 0an audience that's already invested in the original cast.

But with a cameo, by the time you start building those connections, your track is already wrapping up. A lot of the time, you're left wondering whether it's even worth forming those bonds when your role only lasts for a month or so.
'
She adds, 'A few years ago, even a cameo could stretch for six months. But now, the entire show might not even run that long. In my last two shows,
Doree
and Lekar Hum Deewana Dil, my track ended within a month and a half. So, I've started treating TV more like OTT — step in, play the character, and move on. Unless you're part of a show from the beginning, there's little emotional investment.'

'CSK has struck gold' - R Ashwin breaks silence after backlash over Dewald Brevis comments

Dewald Brevis of South Africa bats during the T20 international cricket match between Australia and South Africa in Darwin, Australia, Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025. (Jono Searle/AAPImage via AP) R Ashwin has issued a clarification after his comments on Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) acquisition of South Africa's Dewald Brevis sparked a huge controversy on social media. CSK had to put out a statement after Ashwin claimed that the franchise paid an 'extra" amount to Dewald Brevis, who had a base price of Rs 75 lakh in the mega auction and went unsold. The South African was later roped in by CSK as an injury replacement for Gurjapneet Singh. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'I just want to say this. I focus more on cricket rather than the chatter on social media," Ashwin said on his Hindi YouTube channel Ash Ki Baat. "We make videos on YouTube to give our opinions. People who watch our videos don't do any wrongdoing. However, those who don't watch can twist the statements according to their whims and fancies. In today's world, news can be made based on one statement or headline. Poll Do you think R Ashwin's comments on CSK's acquisition of Dewald Brevis were taken out of context? Yes, definitely No, he should have been clearer "The way Brevis is batting, CSK has struck gold. The decision to bring him on board is very good. "The franchise has struck gold during the purple patch of Dewald Brevis. He has been batting really well; he hits big sixes. Power-striker, monstrous hitter against spin,' he added. South African batting sensation Dewald Brevis scored the fastest T20I fifty for his country against Australia, reaching the milestone in just 22 balls during the series-deciding third T20I at Cazaly's Stadium in Cairns on Saturday. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? Brevis surpassed his own record of 25 balls set earlier in the week during the second T20I in Darwin. The previous record was held by JP Duminy, who scored a 31-ball fifty in Melbourne in 2009. The 22-year-old also broke the record for the quickest fifty against Australia on their home soil, beating Ravi Bopara's 23-ball effort in Hobart in 2014. Prior to this match, Brevis had demonstrated his batting prowess in the second T20I with an unbeaten 125 off 56 balls. This innings included the second-fastest century for South Africa in T20Is, achieved in 41 balls, second only to David Miller's 35-ball century against Bangladesh in 2017. 'Prince Andrew was horrible to staff': Bombshell revelations in new documentary—what did the royal biographer claim?

Duke of York Prince Andrew mistreated his staff members and will summon his protection officer or maids to pick up his golf balls or tissues to pick that up, the royal biographer Andrew Lonie claimed in one of the episodes in Channel 5's documentary, Andrew and Fergie: The Duke and Duchess of Excess. The new documentary goes into the lives of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, exploring their relationship, lavish lifestyle, business ventures, Ferguson's financial struggles, and their controversial links to Jeffrey Epstein, as per Express UK reported. During the episode, royal biographer Lonie said, "Andrew was particularly horrible to staff; he doesn't seem to see them as normal people. He treats them as basically subordinates to be bossed around. I think he's very narcissistic and everything is about him." Lonie further added, "He'll summon his protection officer to pick up his golf balls after he's teed them down the fairway, he will summon maids from four floors down to open the curtains. He will drop tissues he's used on the floor and expect people to pick that up." The documentary continued: "Andrew has not commented on the new claims about his behaviour towards staff." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? Vitauthority Learn More Undo These bombshells were exposed in a new book about the disgraced royal and his family, "The Rise and Fall Of The House of York", by Andrew Lownie. Earlier this year, it was also reported that the Duke had previously asked for a member of staff to be moved because he "disliked a mole on the man's face." This claim was made by royal author Tom Quinn, who wrote about the royal's temper in "The Times". He penned: "It's true that some royals can display acts of ill temper. One former servant recalled how Prince Andrew insisted on a member of staff being transferred because he disliked a mole on the man's face. " Andrew Lownie's scathing book about Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson was released last week. Quinn added: "Speaking of Andrew, that another former servant asked for a man to be 'moved to other duties for wearing a nylon tie.'" Ahead of Andrew Lonie's book release, sources close to the Duke of York reacted to the allegations which surfaced and claimed: "It would be totally inaccurate to say they are devastated or heartbroken by the book, or any of this c***. There are absolutely no new revelations—it's just a rehash of things already said brought together in one place. The family used to wonder when this would ever end; now they know it never will. It's just, the tide comes in and the tide goes out," the insider added to the "Daily Beast". Meanwhile, a source close to Fergie, as she is affectionately known, said the family have been "pilloried and bullied" by the British press for years and are "well used to it by now. "
