Monsoon keeps its date and enters Uttar Pradesh on time

Lucknow: The southwest monsoon kept its date with Uttar Pradesh as it made a quiet entry into the state through the Sonbhadra district. June 18 is the normal date of arrival for the monsoon in UP.
Conditions are favourable for its further advancement into the state over the next 2-3 days.
The Indian Meteorological Department said the monsoon brought light to moderate rains in Sonbhadra, Jhansi and Lalitpur.
The weatherman has predicted that the monsoon will enter southern UP and cover the eastern part in the next 2-3 days and then central UP.
The Northern Limit of the monsoon passed through Barmer, Jodhpur, Jaipur in Rajasthan, Gwalior and Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, entering in Sonbhadra UP and Gaya in Bihar.
The Met department predicted conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest monsoon over remaining parts of North Arabian Sea, some more parts of Rajasthan, remaining parts of Madhya Pradesh, more parts of UP and remaining parts of Bihar, some parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad during next 2-3 days.

Thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall activity is expected across the state in the next three days," said senior scientist Mohammad Danish at the state meteorological department. He said timely monsoon showers in southern UP brought relief from hot and humid weather. The humidity levels are expected to remain high during this period. The monsoon is likely to cover the entire state by June-end, matching the normal progression pattern.
The weather office has predicted cloudy sky with a few spells of rain/thundershowers on Thursday, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to be around 34 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively. Rain/thundershowers are likely at many places in west UP and at most places in east UP. There is a warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning/gusty winds (speed 40-50 km/h) at isolated places in the state. Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in west UP while heavy rain may lash some isolated places in east UP.
Rains likely in Lucknow over 3 days
The weather office has said there is possibility of rains in Lucknow over the next three days. June 23 is the normal date of monsoon arrival in Lucknow and monsoon may reach the city on time. Some parts of the city received pre-monsoon showers on Wednesday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 36.4 degrees Celsius, 1.6 degrees below normal, and 26.8 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Thursday.
