Johor King awards DMIJ to 21SSG commander and regent ADC
The prestigious DMIJ award was also bestowed upon Johor Regent's aide-de-camp, Colonel Mohd Farid Azwanshah Sahar.
The investiture ceremony took place at Istana Bukit Serene, where the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, presented the awards to both recipients.
The title of Datuk accompanies the DMIJ honour, recognising their distinguished service.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi attended the event alongside key state officials.
Also present were Johor Council of Royal Court president Datuk Dr Abdul Rahim Ramli and State Secretary Datuk Asman Shah Abd Rahman.

Earlier, Sultan Ibrahim attended the 60th Anniversary Parade of the elite regiment at Kem Iskandar in Mersing. The parade featured five detachments comprising 18 officers and 173 personnel members from the 11th Special Service Regiment, 21st Commando Regiment, 22nd Commando Regiment, the Combined Unit and the Army Special Warfare Training Centre (Pulpak). Since its establishment in 1965, the regiment has undergone a remarkable transformation. What began as a small unit has grown into a modern special forces regiment operating across multiple domains. During the event, Sultan Ibrahim issued a stern reminder to the Defence Ministry not to repeat past mistakes in the procurement of military assets, particularly used aircraft that could endanger the lives of pilots and military personnel. His Majesty said the nation's experience in purchasing second-hand Skyhawk aircraft should serve as a lesson, as the planes could not be fully utilised. "Do not repeat the past mistake, like when we bought second-hand Skyhawks… are we going to put our pilots in 'flying coffins'? Think for yourselves. Khaled promises military readiness as king slams wasteful purchases
KUALA LUMPUR: The Defence Ministry will ensure that the modernisation of defence assets aligns with the needs of the armed forces. Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said this includes assets for the Special Forces Regiment. Earlier, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, warned against the procurement of assets that he described as "rubbish", or those that do not meet the regiment's needs. In his address at the regiment's 60th anniversary celebration in Mersing, the king said the government must improve the regiment's readiness by ensuring that all procurements are carried out carefully. Khaled said: "Honouring the decree of His Majesty, the Defence Ministry will continue to place emphasis on the readiness of the armed forces. "We will modernise defence assets in line with their needs, including those of the regiment." He expressed gratitude to His Majesty for attending the celebration. Sultan Ibrahim, who is the regiment's colonel commandant, said purchases must be based on user needs and fair market prices, not on agents' recommendations. He said buying irrelevant or overpriced assets is wasteful and a loss to the nation. His Majesty has also ordered the ministry to scrap plans to acquire 30-year-old Black Hawk helicopters. Meanwhile, Khaled added that since its establishment in 1965, the regiment has undergone a remarkable transformation. Sultan Ibrahim, who is also Colonel Commandant of Gerup Gerak Khas (GGK), further advised the Defence Minister to cancel the proposed purchase of Black Hawk helicopters that are over 30 years old, out of concern that the same mistake would be repeated. The monarch emphasised that all parties involved in military procurement must ensure evaluations are conducted transparently, based on market prices and the actual needs of the armed forces, and not merely on the recommendations of agents or vested interests. 'Do not waste time buying nonsense that does not fit the needs of the military. If you don't know the price, ask me first. 'Five years ago, I pointed out the purchase of rigid raiding craft for the commandos at RM5 million, when I could have sourced a better boat for under RM2 million. 'Recently, I heard there was a proposal to buy a similar boat but in a larger size, at nearly RM10 million. This makes no sense and must be carefully reviewed,' Sultan Ibrahim said. His Majesty stressed that if all asset purchases are made at inflated 'middleman' prices, then government allocations will never be sufficient. 'Therefore, do not try to fool me. If you do not want to heed my advice, I will not speak up again,' His Majesty said. In addition to highlighting the need for price transparency, Sultan Ibrahim also criticised the delay in the combat diving pool project at RGK Camp, which was supposed to be completed in 2022 but is still not operational. At the same time, His Majesty urged the government to prioritise the acquisition of new equipment to ensure RGK's readiness remains at the highest level, enabling swift response to any threat.
