This whole weapon class lock thing is the best test of intent from DICE with Battlefield 6. - Will they listen to feedback?- Or are they yadayadaing it away for a year like with the specialists? pic.twitter.com/LK9uvzfQHg

FBI to probe effort to impersonate top Trump adviser, sources tell CBS
The FBI is investigating an effort by one or more unknown people to access the personal phone of Susie Wiles, the White House chief of staff, sources told the BBC's US news partner CBS. The key Trump ally told people that her phone had been hacked after an impersonator - or impersonators - used her contacts file to message other top US officials, sources told CBS. Some recipients of the messages raised suspicions after they were asked if they could continue a conversation in another platform, such as Telegram. "The White House takes the cybersecurity of all staff very seriously, and this matter continues to be investigated," a White House spokesperson said. The period of time over which the messages were received is unknown. The Wall Street Journal first reported the incident and the FBI probe launched in response. The impersonation was targeted at her personal phone, not government phone, the Wall Street Journal reported. It also reported that the recipients included US senators, governors and top business executives. Wiles is the first female White House chief of staff and was seen as a key architect of US President Donald Trump's re-election campaign. It is not the first time she has been at the centre of concerns around cybersecurity. Last year, three members of a cyber espionage unit associated with Iran's Revolutionary Guards - a powerful branch of Iran's armed forces - were indicted for launching cyber attacks on the Trump campaign team, which Susie Wiles led. Responding to the latest incident, FBI director Kash Patel said in a statement to CBS News: "The FBI takes all threats against the President, his staff, and our cybersecurity with the utmost seriousness; safeguarding our administration officials' ability to securely communicate to accomplish the President's mission is a top priority."

A Musk-Telegram AI Pact Sets the Stage for More Drama
Conspiracy theories and extremism on Pavel Durov's freewheeling app could be supercharged by a deep integration with AI chatbot Grok. By Parmy Olson is a Bloomberg Opinion columnist covering technology. A former reporter for the Wall Street Journal and Forbes, she is author of 'Supremacy: AI, ChatGPT and the Race That Will Change the World.' Save It's hard to find a pair of tech billionaires more alike than Elon Musk and Pavel Durov. Both are staunch libertarians who run large social media platforms with minimal content moderation, and both champion themselves as defenders of free speech. Both are also pro-natalists, with Durov claiming to have fathered more than 100 biological children through sperm donation. It's an ideological match made in heaven — and perhaps in business too. Durov this week announced a one-year partnership with Musk's xAI, in which the latter artificial intelligence lab would pay Telegram $300 million in cash and equity to integrate its Grok chatbot into the messaging app. In essence, Telegram gets whizzy new AI features while Grok gets distribution on a platform with roughly 1 billion users, double the number of people on X. But there are a couple of snags.

184M passwords for Google, Apple and more exposed in major data breach
The Brief A cybersecurity researcher found a mysterious database that was publicly exposed and included more than 184 million passwords. The login information and passwords included Google, Apple, Microsoft products, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Roblox, and "many more." Some of the passwords were linked to government portals that could "put exposed individuals at serious risk," he said. More than 184 million passwords and other login information – including Google, Apple and government accounts – were exposed through a mysterious, publicly exposed database that has since been taken offline. In a recent blog post, Jeremiah Fowler, a longtime cybersecurity researcher, said the database wasn't password-protected or encrypted, and it had 184.2 million logins and passwords – more than 47 Gigabytes of raw data. What we know Fowler believes the exposed data may have been obtained by using a type of "infostealer malware," a malicious software that can infect a system and extract sensitive information, like the kind stored in web browsers, email accounts and messaging apps. RELATED: Medusa ransomware: CISA issues email security warning The database is hosted by World Host Group, a company that manages operating systems for more than 2 million websites, according to Wired. But this mysterious trove of logins and other personal information is "an unmanaged server" fully controlled by a fraudulent user, the company said. What we don't know Fowler hasn't confirmed exactly how the data was collected, but he says there's a lot of evidence pointing to the info-stealing malware. Cybercriminals often deploy the malware through phishing emails, malicious websites or cracked software, he said. The stolen data is typically shared on the dark web and Telegram channels or used to commit fraud, identity theft or more cyber attacks. What they're saying "The database contained login and password credentials for a wide range of services, applications, and accounts, including email providers, Microsoft products, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Roblox, and many more," Fowler wrote. "I also saw credentials for bank and financial accounts, health platforms, and government portals from numerous countries that could put exposed individuals at significant risk." Why you should care Fowler said millions of people keep years' worth of sensitive information in their email accounts – including tax documents, medical records, passwords and more. If cybercriminals have access, you are at risk of having your data stolen. What you can do Fowler recommends keeping track of which sensitive data is stored in your email account and deleting emails that contain important files. He said to use an encrypted cloud storage method instead of email if you have to share personal information. If you're still using the same passwords on multiple accounts and devices, you're making it easier for cybercriminals to gain unauthorized access by using automated scripts to try login and password combinations for thousands of websites. "Even if one account is still active and they gain unauthorized access, it could create serious security risks and open the door to a wide range of potential attacks," Fowler wrote.
