Empower your mind, elevate your skills
Venture Capital (VC) investments in India touched $3.5 billion across 355 deals in Q2 of 2025, warming up sequentially in value terms from $2.8 billion across 456 deals in March quarter, according to a latest KPMG report.Fintech remained one of the hottest sectors for investment in India, KPMG Venture Pulse Q2 2025 report said."India's venture capital landscape demonstrated resilience in Q2, 2025, with funding rising despite global uncertainties. Key sectors like fintech, healthtech, and logistics drew strong investor interest, reflecting confidence in India's innovation potential," said Nitish Poddar, Partner and National Leader, Private Equity, KPMG in India. The performance underscores the country's growing role in shaping the region's startup ecosystem, Poddar added.A USD 218 million seed round raise by PB Healthcare -- a startup focused on developing a tech-enabled health delivery platform was India's largest VC investment of Q2, 2025."VC investment in India rose from USD 2.8 billion across 456 deals to USD 3.5 billion across 355 deals quarter-over-quarter," it said.On a broader canvas, the global venture capital investment slipped to USD 101.05 billion in Q2, 2025 from USD 128.4 billion in Q1, 2025.The drop notwithstanding, "Q2'25 remained a relatively strong quarter despite ongoing geopolitical conflicts, trade tensions, and macroeconomic uncertainty", as per the report. The focus remained primarily on large-scale opportunities, especially in the AI and defencetech space, it further said.Heading into Q3'25, VC investors globally are expected to remain cautious given the continued delay in exits across many sectors, rising geopolitical tensions, and ongoing uncertainties related to tariffs and other global trade policies."AI will likely remain the hottest sector of VC investment globally -- particularly as governments continue to introduce large-scale funding programs to attract AI startups and drive ecosystem development and technology sovereignty," according to KPMG.

Indians Can Now Travel Easier (And Smarter): The Most Exciting Visa Updates of 2025
Last Updated: From visa-free getaways to remote work opportunities, new 2025 visa policies are opening exciting doors for Indian travellers across the globe. International travel just got a whole lot easier for Indian passport holders, thanks to several major updates in visa policies worldwide. From visa-free access to streamlined processing and new digital nomad opportunities, here are the key changes you need to know before planning your next getaway: 1. Remote Work Now Allowed on New Zealand Visitor Visa Starting January 27, 2025, New Zealand has updated its visitor visa rules to permit remote work for up to 90 days during a stay of up to six months. This means if you're employed by a foreign company, you can work remotely while primarily enjoying New Zealand as a tourist. 2. South Africa Launches Express Visa via Tour Operators South Africa has introduced the Trusted Tour Operator Scheme (TTOS), allowing accredited tour operators to submit group visa applications directly. This move reduces the processing time to just three working days, offering a smoother experience for Indian group travellers. 3. Palau Grants Visa-Free Entry for Indians The island nation of Palau now offers Indian citizens visa-free access for short visits of up to 30 days. Although there are no direct flights from India, convenient connections through cities like Singapore, Manila, Seoul, and Taipei make it a reachable paradise for Indian tourists. The Philippines now grants visa-free entry to Indian nationals under two new provisions. Indians can visit for up to 14 days visa-free for tourism. Moreover, if you hold a valid visa or permanent residency from countries like the US, Japan, or within the Schengen zone, you're eligible for a 30-day visa-free stay. 5. US to Add USD 250 Visa Integrity Fee Indian travellers heading to the US should brace for increased costs. A new USD 250 (approximately ₹21,600) 'visa integrity fee" will apply to most nonimmigrant visas, including student and work categories. This will raise the total application fee to around USD 473 (roughly ₹41,000). The implementation date is expected to be around October 1, 2025. 6. US Student Visa Applicants Face Social Media Scrutiny Indian students applying for US visas will now be subject to mandatory social media disclosure. All handles and usernames used in the past five years must be declared, and applicants must keep their profiles public. Deactivating accounts or deleting posts just before applying may raise red flags. 7. Slovenia to Welcome Indian Digital Nomads Slovenia is set to roll out its digital nomad visa on November 21, 2025. Indian remote workers employed by foreign companies can live in Slovenia for up to a year, with the option to bring their family. However, the visa is non-renewable, and a six-month break outside Slovenia will be required to reapply. view comments First Published: July 23, 2025, 08:45 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Trump may remove Elon Musk from Golden Dome project, US government looking alternative for SpaceX, this company may get chance, not Google, Microsoft Golden Dome Project: The fight between Elon Musk and United States President Donald Trump has been going on since the richest man in the world termed Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill' a wasteful expenditure. Now, it is expected that President Trump may remove Musk's company SpaceX from the Golden Dome project — the missile defence system which aims to protect America from foreign air attacks. The Trump administration has already started exploring new options for the USD 175 billion project, Reuters reported. Amid the fight, Jeff Bezos' company, Amazon's Project Kuiper may get a chance. However, other defence companies are also in the race. The report also stated that SpaceX has not shown interest in the project. What Is The Golden Dome Project? On the lines of Israel's Iron Dome, the US also wants to build a powerful air defence system that protects the country from any areal threat such fighter jets, drones and missiles. Notably, Trump announced about the project a week after the start of his second term. According to several media reports, a plan has been made to launch over 1200 satellites for the defence system. With this the US is preparing to detect and destroy the enemy's missiles from space. Out of the 1200 satellites, 400 to 1,000 satellites will be used for tracking of enemy missiles. 200 interceptor satellites will be prepared to shoot down those missiles in space itself. The air defence system will be capable of intercepting and destroying missiles launched from any part of the world. Trump has also claimed that the Golden Dome will be able to intercept attacks from space. Has The Work Started To Launch The Project? It is worth noting that the Golden Dome Project will cost around USD175 billion. The US President has already approved USD25 billion for the project. On July 17, the approval was taken from the Senate, and Space Force General Michael Guetlein was given command of the project. Guetlein will form a team in 30 days, the project's design in 60 days and the entire plan in 120 days. Who Is Better Between SpaceX And Amazon? SpaceX's experience with government contracts and its deployment of over 9,000 Starlink satellites in space make it the frontrunner. Despite launching only 78 satellites to date, Amazon's Project Kuiper has been invited by the Pentagon to participate in a defence project. This has showcased a major shift in government strategy, including technology companies alongside established defence contractors.
