Over a year since TV chef Dave Myers, known from the Hairy Bikers and Strictly Come Dancing, sadly lost his fight with cancer in February 2024, his grief-stricken widow has moved social media users to tears with a heartfelt tribute. By posting a touching photograph on Facebook, Liliana Myers opened up about the emotional struggles she's endured following the death of her cherished spouse.
She introspectively detailed how Dave's absence has necessitated substantial adjustments in her life and poignantly described her efforts to cope with such a devastating bereavement.
Liliana reminisced about the guidance Dave once offered, penning: "When he said: 'Lil, you should learn how to ride a bike'. I said: 'My love, I have you to do that. We enjoy sharing a bike ride together too much.'".
She continued: "When he said: 'You should follow recipes and cook nice food'. I said: 'But my darling, you're cooking for me wonderful food... kitchen is your territory.'".
She also recalled their conversations about independence: "When he said to me: 'Lil, you should get out there more, explore more on your own.' I said: 'Dave, my life is wrapped around you, I love the experiences we have together and who I am with you... I don't need more.'", reports the Mirror.
Finally, Liliana reflected on how she's had to confront the reality of doing everything without Dave, lamenting: "How right was he and how wrong was I because, when I lost him, I had to learn to do all of those things without him! And it hurts now that I did say no then.
"I'm telling you all these things because this has been a valuable lesson to me, and hopefully you feel inspired to: do, experience, live, love and enjoy everything for yourself, be daring and bold, don't hide behind someone else's dreams.
"Have your own dreams and fulfil them for yourself! This picture was taken in times of joy and happiness... a reminder of how life was before everything changed."
Her open-hearted narrative resonated deeply, sparking waves of empathy and support from her admirers, with loads replying to her divulgence. Notably touched, several conceded that they were brought to tears by her stirring words.
Offering a soothing sentiment, a fan expressed: "Keep moving forward knowing that Dave is watching over you, probably chuckling at your muck ups, but he's there. You have the love of 'the Bikers team' and the love of the nation too, always remember that.
"It's hard, but you are moving forward and have accomplished so much. Remember to take time for you too, don't feel you have to be strong all the time. There will be times of despair and tears too - let it out. But we are all there for you, no matter what."
Another wrote in response, sharing their emotional reaction: "Tears streaming down my face."
Continuing the heartfelt tributes, a third added: "He's still with you when you're doing all of those things. So long as you're doing things with him in your heart and mind, you'll carry him with you forever."
A fourth admirer shared: "Such a beautiful picture of you both. Also, a beautifully sad reminder of what happens in life. You are a wonderful advocate for everything your wonderful husband stood for."
The poignant love story that unfolded for one half of The Hairy Bikers, Myers, started serendipitously in Romania where he was filming 'The Hairy Bikers' Cookbook' and became enchanted by the hotel employee who would later share his life.
Their bond persisted over the long distances, and it was her journey to the UK which saw their camaraderie bloom into romance. His partner fondly remembered: "I was blown away by one tiny little thing.
"He picked me up from the airport. It was about midnight and he opened the fridge and he said, 'What do you want me to cook for you?'".
"I'd never ever in my life had a man cook for me. So that was the very first thing that just hit me. I was visiting as a friend, but from that moment on my heart just melted."
After Myers' untimely passing at the age of 66, he is remembered for his infectious charisma and gastronomic fervour. In the wake of his departure, Liliana has been vocal about her profound loss, supported by an online community that has rallied to offer their heartfelt sympathies.

EastEnders star to quit BBC soap after four years 'to look for other opportunities'

Bobby Brazier who plays Freddie Slater in EastEnders is set to leave the iconic BBC soap in by the end of the year. Bobby Brazier is set to leave Albert Square as his time on EastEnders is over after a four-year stint. The actor and model, known for his role as Freddie Slater, has gained a lot of attraction and offers following his time on Strictly Come Dancing in 2023 where he finished runner-up. The 22-year-old's exit from Walford is scheduled for later this year, the Mirror reports. As an EastEnders spokesperson confirmed: "We can confirm that Bobby Brazier will be leaving EastEnders, and we wish him all the best for the future.' ‌ A source close to the show, told The Sun: "Bosses recently met with Bobby to discuss a potential storyline, but Bobby felt this was the right moment to explore new ventures beyond the series. ‌ "The timing aligned perfectly for both parties. Although his final scenes are some time away, the character has enjoyed a strong run, and now is the time for Bobby to pursue fresh opportunities while EastEnders bids farewell to Freddie Slater." Bobby's departure from EastEnders comes amid a wave of bold casting moves by new executive producer Ben Wadey, who's reviving the drama by bringing back fan favourites including Michelle Ryan (Zoe Slater), Jake Wood (Max Branning), and Max Bowden (Ben Mitchell). At the same time, Lacey Turner is taking a break from her iconic role as Stacey Slater. Since joining the soap as Freddie Slater back in 2022, Bobby has gone on to win the National Television Award for Rising Star as well as appearing on Curfew a Paramount+ drama while continuing to film for the BBC soap. Clearly enjoying his craft, Bobby recently revealed: 'I love my job. I love being on EastEnders and I love modelling. But I'll probably take a break at some point. Just travel, get inspired, meet new people." ‌ Looking back on his journey, the once-reserved 22 year old admitted that fame hasn't always felt natural - particularly during his time on Strictly Come Dancing, when he initially "wanted to get voted off." Bobby connects his unease in the spotlight back to the loss of his mother, Jade Goody, who passed away when he was only five years old. "I don't want to be famous. Maybe I did when I was younger. Now I just want to act," he candidly shared. ‌ His EastEnders storyline saw Freddie mistakenly believe Billy Mitchell was his father, leading to an emotional and intense confrontation - an early sign that Bobby had the ability to "blow us away" with his raw and honest performances. He later took on a deeply personal journey exploring ADHD representation. One standout scene - where Freddie confronted a former teacher and revisited his past school trauma. Fans praised the depth of his emotional portrayal, capturing the character's grief and anger in a way that resonated both on and off screen. ‌ In a powerful 2023 storyline, Freddie defended Stacey Slater from a violent assault attempt by Theo Hawthorne. In the gripping performance that left viewers in tears and earned widespread praise, he attacked Theo with an iron. More recently, Freddie uncovered the harrowing truth that his biological father is Graham Foster - his mother's attacker. The storyline delved into Freddie's emotional turmoil and determination as he seeks out Graham at a car dealership. In the heart-wrenching scenes that followed, Freddie made the decision to firmly cut ties with Graham leaving viewers deeply moved by the emotional moment.

My body's ‘under construction' after cancer op but prosthetic boobs have made me feel normal says Hollyoaks' Ali Bastian

IT would be understandable to lose faith after a horror 12 months that saw her both diagnosed with cancer and forced to come to terms with the tragic loss of her 'beautiful' mum. But former Hollyoaks star Ali Bastian says she is "better than I would have imagined" after being declared cancer-free, even if her tumultuous recovery has left her still feeling "under construction". 12 Ali Bastian has inspired fans with her candid posts about her treatment for breast cancer Credit: Instagram / alibastianinsta 12 The 43-year-old stepped out at the Baftas last month Credit: Splash 12 She revealed how she has reunited after 20 years with her former stepmum, Sally, who has supported her through her health battle Credit: Supplied The 43-year-old was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer in June 2024, and underwent a mastectomy in January before getting the all clear two months later. Now, the Strictly star - who has inspired fans with her candid and powerful updates about her treatment journey - has opened up about the next steps in her recovery and revealed she is still weighing up reconstruction surgery. In a new interview with Giovanna Fletcher on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast, she explains how she is now turning her attention to removing a tumour the size of a "tennis ball" that developed after the birth of her daughter, Isla, five years ago. And she reveals how she has found an unlikely pillar of support in the form of her former stepmother, who she had not seen in over 20 years. Asked how she had handled the recovery, she said: "In some ways better than I would have imagined actually, even the sort of gearing up for a mastectomy. "I've got a really good prosthetic that makes a big difference. It means in clothes I feel normal. It's bright pink. It makes me happy. "It's just very different to the lump of silicone that you get handed in the hospital, which is a hell of a moment. "This is a lot lighter and easy to wear. I quite like that it doesn't look like a chicken fillet, like a pretend boob. "It's something that I could show the kids as well because it's so visually appealing. "It was one of those little bridging things. I just keep saying to myself really 'I'm still under construction, I've been through a lot, I'm healing at the moment'." She was diagnosed with cancer after discovering a lump she initially thought was a blocked milk duct while breastfeeding her youngest daughter. But after undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment, Ali says her successful recovery has now allowed her to focus on other health problems she was forced to put off. She said: "I've got a big old hernia from my babies as well. "Because of all of this I haven't been able to have that done, and actually I'm more keen to get that done than anything else because that is harder to hide. "It's like a tennis ball. I've had it for five years, and it needs to go now." And speaking on the prospect of further surgery to reconstruct her breasts following the mastectomy, she said she will "explore" her options. She said: "I couldn't have a reconstruction at the time because we always knew I'd have to have radiotherapy. At some point there'll be some kind of something. "Initially I was like 100 per cent it's happening. But now, I want to have the conversations and talk through what the options are, but I'm not actually married to any of them at the moment." The pair reunited after Ali's mum tragically passed in autumn 2023, just months before her cancer diagnosis. In an emotional post last April, she told fans: "I wrote this on Mother's Day but didn't end up posting, but here goes…. TW grief. We lost our beautiful Mum in the autumn of '23, only a few months before my diagnosis. "A sudden death after a short terrible illness. Impossible to make sense of. "Grief, I attempted to put on hold whilst I managed a grueling treatment regime now comes in waves, sometimes crashing, sometimes tidal, rarely gentle… but I try to go gently with myself as I navigate life after cancer and life without you." The actress had moved with her husband and children from London to west Cork to slow down shortly before the tragic death. It followed her suffering a suspected infection following the birth of her second child. But her stepmum in London, who she had not seen for 20 years, got in touch and offered to come to Ireland to help Ali and her family - support she said was "incredibly healing". 12 Speaking about the response to her revealing her diagnosis, she said: "The love and support and kindness was incredible. I never know what to respond to those moments. "'It means more than you know' is what I find myself always saying, but I really, really mean that. "I had this amazing thing happen for me in that my stepmum, who I hadn't seen for 20 years, who'd parted company with my dad when I was about 20, when I lost my mum, she reached out to me. "She was like 'Hi, I'm here for you if you need me'. She knew I had a nine-month-old baby. So she just kept an eye on me." Ali added: "When I got my diagnosis she was like 'I'm coming to Cork'. "She spent a week with me and my family. Her sister was an oncology nurse so she had a sense of the treatment plan I was on, and what the months might look like. "She said 'Can I come back and I'll nurse you through this bit?' So she was with me for five weeks through the real tough chemo part. The way my treatment went towards the end, it's quite cumulative. "So she came and helped with the kids and helped me, and talked to me, and looked after me basically, and then came back again when I had my mastectomy and just held me. "Literally sleeves up. It's a really different energy when somebody's like 'I see you in that hole, I want to climb down with you and help you, and please let me do that'. "That's been incredibly healing, like amazing, amazing." 'Crazy little bubble' 12 Ali featured in the iconic Hollyoaks swimwear calendar Credit: Handout Speaking after coming back to London and staying with her stepmum, Ali said: "When I come back to London now I stay with her and I have a home here to go to, because I hadn't taken that on board with moving out to Ireland - that there's nowhere to come back to. "I have a place to go, a soft place to go, and that just means so much. "The type of woman that she is, after she and my father parted ways she went on to become a social worker and become really experienced in that. "She's done incredible work in that field for years and years. "So of all the people that I know that would be able to hold that space for me, my children, my husband, all of those dynamics, and you know the way a family undulates at the best of times, when there's something going on there's constant shifts in everyone's ups and downs. "We were kind of in this crazy little bubble going through this nightmare all together - she just had a way of being able to be there for us, and that not be complicated. "She even gave me a mug of tea last night and I looked in the rim and it said 'I told you to sit down'."
