Notre Dame's dual-sport star Brandon Logan set for MLB Draft Combine
Notre Dame football offered 2027 Kentucky wide receiver Tyler Fryman a scholarship Monday evening despite him being currently committed to Louisville baseball.
Another two-sport star is in the news as 2025 Fighting Irish baseball and football signee Brandon Logan is participating in the MLB Draft Combine this week in Phoenix. Last recruiting cycle, ND was able to flip Logan from a Vanderbilt baseball commitment.
The 6-foot, 185-pound R Nelson Snider (Fort Wayne, IN) outfielder will have the chance to impress big league scouts, as 322 draft-eligible prospects—both high school and college players—will be in town leading up to the MLB Draft July 13.
The Combine, which is in its third year, takes place from June 17-21 at Chase Field.
Logan, who plays safety when on the gridiron, hit .389 with 7 home runs and 31 RBI this past spring as a senior. He was also among the state's leaders with 44 stolen bases.
Fighting Irish right-handed pitcher Rory Fox (4-4, 3.58 ERA in 2025) is also in Arizona to do interviews, but he won't be throwing for scouts. In 65.1 innings, he struck out 64 batters and limited opponents to a .187 average.

2026 5-star CB predicted to land with Texas A&M over Oregon Texas A&M is on the precipice of landing one of the top athletes in the 2026 recruiting class, as five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington is set to make his decision between Oregon and the Aggies on Thursday morning/afternoon. Texas A&M has been the frontrunner for quite some time, but things have gotten interesting over the past month. After official visits to USC, Alabama, and Oregon, Texas A&M defensive back coaches Ishmael Aristide and Jordan Peterson have worked overtime to sell the program's vision, feeling that Arrington is on the path to becoming a star cornerback over the next four years, and is a perfect fit in the SEC due to his versatility as a standout receiver on offense. On Tuesday, Arrington spoke to On3's Josh Newberg about his upcoming decision, noting that both coaching staffs have a plan in place focused on developing his star potential. However, according to On3 Oregon reporter Justin Hopkins, the Aggies are still the favorites to land Arrington's commitment on Thursday. Again, credit to Coach Mike Elko, Aristide, and Peterson for laying the groundwork early, which should pay off in less than 24 hours. Arrington showed off his skills in ten games during his 2024 junior season. Arrington recorded 26 tackles, three pass breakups, and an interception while reeling in 57 receptions for 527 yards and five touchdowns on offense. According to On3, Arrington is currently the 9th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the No. 1-ranked athlete, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in California. OMAHA, Neb. -- Coastal Carolina advanced to the College World Series finals with a 11-3 victory over Louisville on Wednesday, scoring five of its six first-inning runs before making an out and extending its win streak to 26 games. The Chanticleers (56-11) will play LSU or Arkansas in the best-of-three finals starting Saturday. They are going for their second national championship in two all-time appearances in Omaha. They won their first in 2016. Louisville (42-24) started left-hander Colton Hartman, primarily a reliever who hadn't appeared in a game since May 17. He didn't last long. Caden Bodine singled leading off and Sebastian Alexander and Blake Barthol were hit by pitches to load the bases. Walker Mitchell punched a ball into right field to bring in two runs, and then Hartman issued a four-pitch walk. Out went Hartman (2-1) and in came Jake Schweitzer. Colby Thorndyke greeted him with his second bases-clearing double in two games to make it 5-0. Thorndyke came home on Ty Dooley's one-out single and finished 3 for 4 with five RBIs. The Chanticleers padded their lead with Pete Mihos' two-run triple in the fifth and two more runs in the sixth. Coastal Carolina is 43-0 when leading after six innings. The Chanticleers made an impressive run through their bracket, beating Arizona 7-4 and Oregon State 6-2 before eliminating the Cardinals. They led or were tied all the way through except for a half-inning against Arizona. Riley Eikhoff (7-2), making his second start in the CWS, held the Cardinals scoreless until Tague Davis drove an RBI double into the right-center gap in the sixth. Matthew Potok, Hayden Johnson and Dominick Carbone combined for 3 2/3 shutout innings of relief. Cardinals ace Patrick Forbes, who pitched 5 1/3 innings in a 4-3 loss to Oregon State on Friday, had asked to be the starter against the Chanticleers on four days' rest, according to ESPN.
