Paloma Faith reveals she 'nearly died' after violent attack by ex

Singer and actor Paloma Faith has shared the harrowing story of a near-fatal encounter with a former partner, describing a violent attack that left her physically and emotionally scarred.
Speaking on the latest episode of her Mad Sad Bad podcast, the 43-year-old revealed the traumatic experience to guest Ruby Wax, recalling a scary event from her youth.
'This guy, when I was younger, attacked me very, very, very violently, and I nearly died,' she said.
'It was a high-speed car chase… he drove his car into the front of somebody's house, smashed my driver's side window in and pulled me out. I had a black eye and a smashed-up face.'
The singer explained that she later took out an injunction against the man, but the past caught up with her years later in a moment she described as bizarre and empowering.
'Seven years later, I saw him again,' she said. At the time, she was working in an underwear shop and feeling confident in her uniform when she noticed him passing by.
'He gets out of the car and says, 'Can I take you for a drink after work? I feel like we need to clear it up.' And I said, 'Yeah, I'd like to go.''
The pair met for a drink, but the tables had turned: 'I let him speak. I didn't say very much. I asked him some questions. His answers were kind of boring,' she said. 'And then I just said, 'I'm gonna go now.' And he said, 'Why?' I said, 'I find you quite boring.''
Paloma said it marked a personal victory: 'I felt like I'd conquered something.'

In the same episode, Faith also offered a glimpse into her current love life, poking fun at her own romantic contradictions. After previously mocking Spencer Matthews for being 'posh,' she admitted to dating someone from a similar background.
'Yeah, but I've now got a posh boyfriend,' she laughed. 'Now I'm dating one – I'm sleeping with the enemy.'
Faith, who often speaks about her working-class roots in Hackney, added cheekily: 'I'm thinking of it more like a social experiment.'

'When I came back from Race, I reconnected with my siblings and I recognised that had to be addressed. I realised the real gift Race gave me was to address that and move on with my life,' she said. Opening up about why she applied for the show, Yin explained: 'My partner who I'd been with for three years had passed away very suddenly in September 2023. 'One of the reasons for coming on Race was to give me that energy to see what's out there.' Now Yin feels a 'relief and lightness' she explained, revealing she and Gaz had a 'brilliant' time travelling together after the show. Meanwhile, Gaz also brought a tear to many eyes when he reflected on their time together during the show, with many viewers saying the pair should get back together again. 'It probably has brought us more together. What we want in life for the pair of us is to just be happy,' he said. 'Whether I or Yin find love again, we will always be in each others' lives because we are just great friends. It probably looks bizarre to the outside world, but to us it's normal.' Yin looked touched as Gaz said: 'All I've ever wanted was the best for Yin and I'm just very proud of how Yin has become.' Sending the love right back at her former partner, Yin said through tears: 'Gaz is the most amazing, kind-hearted amazing person. "They were very encouraging to me. I was put in the Hackney Gazette because it was a failing school and I got all As at GCSE." She went on to say she didn't receive any formal musical training despite her school days inspiring her creative nature. "I did it all myself," she claimed at the time. "I had no famous parents, no stage school, no BRIT School." Natalie previously revealed: "Paloma Faith, she bullied me at school. She went to Islington Green and was in the year above me. Tributes pour in for mum found strangled after husband charged with her murder
A popular mum who was found dead in her home has been remembered as 'beautiful inside and out'. Artist Isobella Knight, 32, was discovered by police at her semi-detached home in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, on Friday. Officers attended the property on Donnington Road after originally being called to reports of a car crashing into a nearby McDonald's restaurant. A post-mortem examination found mum-of-two Isobella, known as Izzy, had died as a result of pressure being applied to her neck. Her husband, Paul Knight, 35, has been charged with her murder. Izzy's family have penned poignant tributes to the 'kind, gentle and much-loved' mum who put her two little girls before anything else.' Her mum, Helena, said: 'She made it so easy to be a mum, and her good nature was something that would never leave her. 'As Izzy grew up, she became a beautiful, gentle, quietly confident young woman who loved getting up early and seizing the day, had a strong network of friends, and gave birth to two girls who became her world. 'If anyone was born to be a mum, it was Izzy. She would go without to give her two girls the best possible life, and she took them to so many clubs and classes, including gymnastics, swimming, drama and dance.' Izzy worked as an artist after studying Fine Art at the University of Hertfordshire and ran her own portrait business. Her mum added: 'She never had a bad word to say about anyone – she was truly beautiful inside and out, and she wouldn't hurt a fly. 'I want everyone to know that Izzy was so much more than a victim. She was a loving mother, a treasured daughter, a best friend in sister form, a talented artist, and a great friend.' Izzy's dad Tim, also issued a moving statement recalling his daughter as a 'totally devoted' mum. 'Being Izzy's dad has been the greatest joy, a pleasure and a privilege. She has been taken so tragically and now we must all somehow learn to live on without her,' he said.' More Trending 'As her family we respectfully continue to ask for privacy.'
