Yahoo19-05-2025

The Rocket Classic has already had some memorable finishes, and some of the champions responsible will be back for the 2025 edition.
Former champions Cam Davis, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler and Nate Lashley have committed to playing in the 2025 Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club, the tournament announced May 8.

Davis won the 2024 event after Akshay Bhatia ended with a 3-putt on the final hole, letting slip his nearly tournament-long lead. Davis also won the 2021 event in a three-man playoff against Troy Merritt and Joaquin Niemann, making him the only two-time winner in the tournament's six years.
Joining Davis in the 2025 field will be Rickie Fowler, who won the tournament in 2023 in an exciting three-man playoff against Collin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin.
Tony Finau, who set the tournament record by shooting 26 under par in 2022, will also compete in the 2025 tournament. Finau is second cousins with former NBA player Jabari Parker and first cousins with former NFL player Haloti Ngata, who played for three seasons with the Detroit Lions from 2015-17.
Tony Finau celebrates winning the Rocket Mortgage Classic at the Detroit Golf Club, Sunday, July 31, 2022.
Nate Lashley, who won the tournament's inaugural event in 2019 by shooting 25 under par, also returns in the 2025 field. Lashley hit a hole-in-one during the first round last year, and finished 10 under par tied for 25th.

"We're excited to welcome back four outstanding champions — Cameron, Rickie, Tony and Nate — to the Rocket Classic this summer," Rocket Companies president Bill Emerson said in a statement. "Each of these players has left their mark on this tournament, and it's a privilege to see them return to Detroit."
Rickie Fowler swings on hole 17 during the fourth round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club on Sunday, July 2, 2023.
The 2025 Rocket Classic will take place from June 26-29 at Detroit Golf Club on Hamilton Road near the city's University District. Tickets for the event can be found at RocketClassic.com, with grounds tickets starting at $65 per day.

Kevin Durant Predicts Suns Will Trade Him to West Team on Rise

Kevin Durant Predicts Suns Will Trade Him to West Team on Rise originally appeared on Athlon Sports. That the Phoenix Suns are looking to reset their roster and eventually their salary cap situation is no secret around the NBA. That trading Kevin Durant this summer is likely the only way to do so is also common knowledge. Advertisement The real question at this point is where Durant is most likely to end up. Several experts don't expect the 36-year-old superstar's trade value to be exceedingly high given his age, his salary (nearly $55 million in 2025) and the fact that there is only one year left on his contract. That last issue is particularly problematic, because Durant is likely to want a multiyear extension from whatever team deals for him, which will be expensive and tie that franchise to the former MVP through his late 30s. And if a new deal doesn't happen, then everything a team surrenders for Durant could merely facilitate a one-year rental should he opt for unrestricted free agency in summer 2026. As such, the needle to thread on a Durant deal is a complicated and interesting one, though there are some teams that make a considerable amount of sense. As far as Durant is concerned, the most likely of them is a Texas-based Western Conference squad with loads of young talent and a bright future ahead that could be realized as early as next season. "I do know somebody that has been with Kevin Durant recently," John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM in Phoenix reported on Friday, June 6. "And Kevin Durant and this person talked about the Spurs." Advertisement San Antonio has drafted the last two Rookie of the Year award winners in Victor Wembanyama, who is already on a generational trajectory based on his development, and Stephon Castle. Wembanyama turned just 21 years old in January and was on track to make an All-NBA roster and win Defensive Player of the Year in his second professional season before a blood clot developed in his shoulder and cut his campaign short. The Spurs also recently traded for former All-Star guard De'Aaron Fox and own the No. 2 pick in the upcoming NBA draft, which is top-heavy with talent. Durant can provide San Antonio with both general shooting and clutch-time playmaking on offense, while adding another 7-foot presence on defense -- all of which should accelerate the championship timeline for a franchise with among the most respected front office groups and coaching staffs in the league. 4 takeaways from the Steelers signing of Aaron Rodgers

After a long wait, the Pittsburgh Steelers finally have their quarterback. According to multiple reports, Aaron Rodgers is headed to Pittsburgh and will sign his contract in time to get started with the team at their mandatory minicamp next week. This has been a long time coming even if we all assumed this was how it would go. Here are our big takeaways from the pending signing. Aaron Rodgers will be welcomed with open arms I know there has been some grumbling and some players have made off-hand comments here and there about Rodgers dragging this out. But make no mistake, Rodgers will be welcomed by every player on the roster when he shows up because they know the NFL is a business and they know Rodgers can play. The NFL was banking Rodgers signing with the Steelers All you have to do is look at the Steelers schedule and you know there was nothing random about how things played out. Pittsburgh is running a crazy gauntlet of games aimed at either former Steelers quarterbacks playing the Steelers or Rodgers against his old teams, and that isn't an accident. Rodgers signing won't change a thing about the 2026 NFL draft I know there will be plenty of fans who don't like this addition because they think this addition will make the Steelers just good enough to end up with a lower draft pick and not be abel to secure a top quarterback in the 2026 NFL draft. This won't be an issue. If the Steelers are set on a particular quarterback next year, they have the draft capital to move up and get them and Rodgers will be gone. Rodgers makes the team better If you ask most fans, they were not looking forward to watching Mason Rudolph start 17 games this season because the team isn't good with Rudolph at quarterback. Rodgers might not make the Steelers a Super Bowl contender or even that much better in terms of overall record. But it will be more watchable, competitive football. Since then, that league has been absorbed by the NBA with the team that would later become the New York Nets and New Jersey Nets before settling on the name by which they are known today, bringing their rich player and jersey history with them to the league of today. Advertisement To commemorate the players who played for the Nets over the decades wearing those 52 different jersey numbers, Nets Wire is covering the entire history of the franchise's jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team.
