Preacher Under Probe Lost Credentials In 2022
MAIS chairman Datuk Salehuddin Saidin said the individual was previously detained by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department in September 2024 for preaching without valid credentials.
'It is an offence under Section 119 of the Administration of the Religion of Islam (State of Selangor) Enactment 2003, and the case is still being heard at the Syariah Subordinate Court.
'A surau administrator is also under investigation in the same case for allegedly facilitating the unauthorised lecture,' he said in a statement today.
Yesterday, Shah Alam police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the police were investigating an independent preacher for allegedly disseminating sex videos involving his wives and several other women.
Salehuddin said that since 2022, MAIS had revoked the accreditation of 35 individuals for breaching set conditions, including delivering teachings that deviated from the Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah creed, committing criminal offences and holding political positions.
'Several others have had their teaching credentials suspended pending investigations in accordance with relevant laws,' he added.
He emphasised that all policies and decisions by the religious authorities are made with due diligence and have received the consent of the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah as the Head of Islam in the state.
'These measures are intended to protect the interests of the Muslim community in Selangor,' he said.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 (Bernama) -- The Local Government Department (JKT) will issue standard operating procedures (SOPs) to local authorities (PBTs) to ensure uniform implementation of court-ordered community service sentences for individuals convicted of littering in public areas. Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the SOPs will be introduced following the passing of the Local Government (Amendment) Bill 2025 in the Dewan Rakyat today, to ensure effective implementation of the law while upholding social justice for all offenders. Nga added that capacity building is important for PBT officers, especially when dealing with young offenders. 'They must fully understand not only the provisions under the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171) but also the Child Act 2001 (Act 611), which has been taken into account in the ministry's implementation plan to ensure effective legal enforcement,' he said when winding up the debate on the Bill. The Bill was passed by a majority voice vote after being debated by eight Members of Parliament from both the government and opposition blocs. The amendment introduces a new Subsection 104A(1), which empowers the courts to order individuals convicted of breaching by-laws under Act 171 to perform up to 12 hours of community service, in addition to any fines imposed. Subsection 104A(3) provides that authorised PBT officers shall determine the time and place for carrying out the community service once a court order is issued. Meanwhile, Subsection 104A(8) states that if the offender is under the age of 18, provisions under Act 611 regarding community service orders will apply. Nga further said the ministry has outlined several strategies to enhance the effectiveness of the law, including increasing the number of authorised PBT officers for enforcement and monitoring purposes.

Sandakan MMEA Foils Bid To Smuggle Diesel, Petrol, Gas Worth RM830,000
SANDAKAN, July 21 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) thwarted an attempt to smuggle diesel, petrol and gas worth RM830,000 to a neighbouring country by detaining a pump boat 0.8 nautical miles off Tanjung Aru here today. Sandakan maritime zone director Maritime Captain Muhamad Suhairy Hussain said the boat, operated by a male skipper with seven male crew members, was detained at 1.05 am after the boat's navigation was detected as suspicious and heading towards the waters of a neighbouring country. "The boat was found to be carrying 250 blue barrels containing 50,000 litres of petrol, 15 barrels containing 3,000 litres of diesel and 120 branded cylinders of gas. The skipper and crew of the boat, aged between 27 and 50, failed to produce valid travel documents.
