Notre Dame football stays hot recruiting adding 2026 3-star safety Nick Reddish

USA Today11-07-2025
It seems like every time Notre Dame is a finalist for an uncommitted prospect, they're winning out the battle and the trend continued on Friday with 2026 safety Nick Reddish.
The 5-foot, 11-inch and 185-pound North Carolina star picked the Irish over Wisconsin, Indiana and Virginia Tech. Notre Dame's 2026 recruiting class now is up to 26 verbals, and there isn't much room left to add any other prospects.
Reddish is the third safety in the class joining two elite others in Joey O'Brien and Ayden Pouncey. He's a bit smaller than his future teammates, as both of them have the size and frames to outgrow the position. As the No. 681 overall player in the 2026 class according to the 247Sports Composite.
He's set to join an absolutely loaded position group, as Adon Shuler is expected to be a starter, while Luke Talich, JaDon Blair, Ben Minich and others battle out for the opposite starting job. That's not including either of the two transfers in Devonta Smith and Jalen Stroman, as the Irish possess one of the deepest units in the country.
Reddish is a great addition to the room, as Notre Dame's class continues to impress.

Alabama flips 2026 offensive line commit from ACC program

Only days after landing their second quarterback of the cycle, the Alabama Crimson Tide have now added another commitment to their 2026 recruiting class, this time via a flip. That is because, on Friday afternoon, offensive line prospect Bear Fretwell officially announced that he was flipping his commitment to the Crimson Tide from Georgia Tech. Fretwell, an in-state prospect for the Yellow Jackets, had previously been committed to Georgia Tech since June. According to the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings, Fretwell is currently considered as the nation's No. 702 overall prospect in the 2026 class, as well as the No. 61 offensive tackle nationally. A three-star prospect, Fretwell also ranks as the No. 78 player in the state of Georgia where he attends Southeast Bulloch High School. Following the flip of Fretwell to Alabama, the Crimson Tide's class now sits at No. 4 nationally, per 247Sports, with 21 total commitments. Of those 21, five come from the state of Georgia. Broncos roster: DL Matt Henningsen (No. 91) fighting for rotational role

Broncos Wire's 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at fourth-year defensive lineman Matt Henningsen, No. 91. Before the Broncos: Henningsen (6-3, 291 pounds) played college football at Wisconsin, earning third-team All-Big Ten honors as a senior in 2021. Following a redshirt freshman season, Henningsen spent five years with the Badgers, totaling 91 tackles (13 behind the line of scrimmage), eight sacks and three fumble recoveries (two returned for touchdowns). He played in 42 games with 29 starts during his time at Wisconsin. Broncos tenure: Henningsen's defensive presence impressed Denver Broncos coaches in the pre-draft process, which led to him being drafted in the sixth round (206th overall) of the 2022 NFL draft. In his rookie season, Henningsen played in 17 games, as primarily a rotational player, recording 1.0 sack and 21 combined tackles (eight solo, 13 assisted, two tackles for loss). In 2023, Henningsen once again played in all 17 regular season games, with two pass deflections and 19 total tackles (10 solo, nine assisted). In 2024, Henningsen was a practice squad player in Denver, not appearing in any games as an active player. Chances to make the 53-man roster: Practice squad or rotational backup player. Henningsen has been in the Broncos system for several years now, and will either be a rotational backup player in relief of John Franklin-Myers and Zach Allen. One of the players Henningsen will compete with for the backup role is Broncos third-round draft pick Sai'vion Jones. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans.

Fox Sports: Luke Fickell among top college football coaches with most to prove in 2025

Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell was included in Fox Sports' list of the 10 college football head coaches with the most to prove entering the 2025 slate on Thursday. Fickell, who joined the Badgers program at the tail end of the 2022 campaign, landed at No. 6 in the hierarchy. Penn State's James Franklin captured the top spot, followed by USC's Lincoln Riley (No. 2), Oklahoma's Brent Venables (No. 3), Miami's Mario Cristobal (No. 4) and Nebraska's Matt Rhule (No. 5). Florida State's Mike Norvell (No. 7), LSU's Brian Kelly (No. 8), Colorado's Deion Sanders (No. 9) and Alabama's Kalen Deboer (No. 10) rounded out the list. The former Cincinnati head coach's position on the 10-coach grouping doesn't come as much of a surprise. Fickell arrived in Madison after captaining the Bearcats to a combined 57-18 mark in six seasons at the helm, which included a 13-1 output and College Football Playoff appearance in 2021. Naturally, the expectations for Fickell were sky-high when he began pacing the sidelines for his first full season with the Badgers in 2023. Wisconsin entered that season at No. 19 in the AP Poll. Disappointing losses to Washington State, Iowa, Indiana and Northwestern then turned a season of hope into one of disappointment for Badger fans. UW finished with a 7-6 record and a 35-31 loss to LSU in the ReliaQuest Bowl in January. Fickell's program followed 2023 with a 5-7 finish in 2024, a season which saw the Badgers miss a bowl game for the first time since 2001. Wisconsin did start the year at 5-2, although the team concluded the campaign with five consecutive defeats to Penn State, Iowa, Oregon, Nebraska and Minnesota. While the 2024 schedule was far from a walk in the park, the team's 2025 slate may be even tougher. The Badgers are set to lace up against Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Michigan in Ann Arbor, Oregon in Eugene, Indiana in Bloomington and Minnesota in Minneapolis. UW will also welcome Iowa, Ohio State and Illinois to Camp Randall. Following the departures of Tyler Van Dyke and Braedyn Locke, Wisconsin will trot out transfer quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. against Miami (OH) in Week 1. New offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes, who abides by the ground-and-pound offensive philosophy, will be calling plays in his first season in Madison. If the Badgers fail to win more than four or five games this season, Fickell will likely face even more scrutiny than he has previously, even with his 12-13 record in two full years at the helm.
