Financial incentives for civil servants pursuing higher education at own expense, says PM
The Prime Minister said the incentives, aimed at officers in the Management and Professional Group as well as the Support Group, would benefit more than 91,000 civil servants.
Those pursuing doctorate degrees will receive RM1,250, followed by RM1,000 for master's degrees, RM750 for bachelor's degrees and RM500 for diploma or equivalent qualifications.
Known as the Hadiah Pengiktirafan Akademik (HPA), Anwar said the financial incentive is provided to civil servants who begin and complete higher academic qualifications recognised during their service, using their own funds.
'Those who take the initiative to study on their own, we are giving them a small token of appreciation, with the total budget involving RM75.7 million.
'This will benefit 91,672 civil servants. It is given once in their career, showing that we encourage them to improve their capabilities on their own initiative,' he said when delivering his address at the 20th Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam here on Friday (Aug 15).
Also present were Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, and Public Service Department director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz.

His remarks appeared to be about Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh, who led a group to a hardware shop in Penang after its owner was reported to have accidentally hung the national flag upside down. 'We are a nation and society governed by the rule of law. If there is a problem, lodge a police report and let the authorities take action. 'You are not an enforcement agency. You cannot just bring a group of people to someone's shop, disrupt their business and bully them,' Chang said.

IPOH: The Ipoh Sentral development is poised to become a new iconic landmark in the heart of Ipoh, reflecting progress guided by a long-term vision, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. "To achieve this, it requires synergy and close cooperation between developers, the city council, and relevant ministries, including Housing and Local Government, Education, Transport, and other agencies," he said on his Facebook page today. He added that the project was expected to create new opportunities, inspire public confidence, and reinforce Ipoh's identity as a vibrant, inclusive, and competitive city. The Ipoh Sentral development, aligned with the Perak Smart City Green Transport Agenda 2030, aims to transform Ipoh into a modern, sustainable transport hub with strong connectivity, while preserving the city's cultural heritage and fostering community cohesion.

Anwar pauses duties to visit recovering Lintang assemblyman
IPOH: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today took time out from his busy schedule to visit Perak State Rural Development, Plantation, Agriculture and Food Industries Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun, who recently underwent surgery. The prime minister, on a working visit to Perak, called on Zolkafly at the state executive councillor's residence after officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ipoh Sentral development project this afternoon. "While inquiring about his health, we also exchanged views on various current issues affecting the people and the state's development," he said in a post on his Facebook page. Anwar also prayed for the speedy recovery of the Lintang state assemblyman. Earlier in his visit, he officiated the Madani Dairy Carnival at the Perak Farm Fresh Dairy Complex in Larut and inspected the construction of a new road from Kamunting to Anak Kurau, Larut Matang Selama (LMS) Phase Two, part of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development's Rural Road Programme (JALB). - Bernama
