Exclusive - Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Sunayana Fozdar fulfills her dream trip to Masai Mara; says 'The wildlife sightings, the landscapes, everything was unforgettable'
Television actor Sunayana Fozdar, widely loved for her portrayal of Anjali Bhabhi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, recently lived out one of her biggest dreams, a trip to the iconic Masai Mara in Kenya. A self-proclaimed nature enthusiast, Sunayana described the experience as nothing short of magical, calling it her 'dream come true.' 'As a child, I was always fascinated by wildlife and forests,' she shared. 'To finally be amidst nature in its rawest, most majestic form was surreal.' From thrilling safari rides to heartwarming encounters with the local Maasai tribe, Sunayana's journey was filled with awe, learning, and deep introspection. One of the most unforgettable moments came just minutes into her first safari. 'I think within the first five minutes, I saw an entire pride of lions and a massive male lion walking straight toward our Jeep. He even marked his territory on it.' she recalled, still wide-eyed with excitement. 'Honestly, I don't think there could ever be a better sighting than that.' Reflecting on her experiences, she added, 'I witnessed so many things that I can't even put into words. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Mini House for 60 sqm for Seniors with Toilet and Bath (Price May Surprise You) Pre Fabricated Homes | Search Ads Search Now Undo Just being surrounded by animals, free, happy, and wild, made me realise how small we are in this vast, beautiful world. It was truly emotional.' Apart from the breathtaking wildlife, Sunayana was deeply touched by her interactions with the Maasai tribe, known for their rich traditions and strong sense of community. 'They are so rooted in their culture,' she shared. 'Someone even showed us how they still make fire using stones! It reminded me how beautiful and fulfilling life can be in simplicity.' Adding to the magic of the trip was the timing, she visited during the Great Migration season, when herds of wildebeests, zebras, and elephants traverse the endless savannah in one of nature's most spectacular events. 'It wasn't just a trip, it was a dream trip,' Sunayana emphasised. 'It was exactly what I had imagined, maybe even better. The wildlife sightings, the landscapes, everything was unforgettable.' She also took a moment to reflect on the beauty of Indian forests and encouraged people to experience safaris closer to home, 'There are so many beautiful forests in India too. Everyone should explore a safari and see animals in their natural habitat instead of in zoos.' Travel, she believes, helps us gain a deeper appreciation of our own roots, "When we travel to different countries, we begin to understand how vast and diverse India truly is. We are one country with many cultures. And when we go out, that's exactly what we want to explore, that contrast, that connection.' With her Masai Mara diaries now lighting up social media, Sunayana's journey is not just a personal milestone, it's an inspiring reminder for many to reconnect with nature, embrace simplicity, and chase the dreams that have long lived in their hearts. 19 years on, Kiran Desai has a 2nd shot at Booker
Nineteen years after winning the Man Booker, Kiran Desai, 53, has returned to the award longlist with a novel about two Indians navigating life in the US. The Indian American author, who became the prize's youngest-ever winner in 2006 with her second novel 'The Inheritance of Loss', is now among 13 writers vying for the literary trophy. Her mother Anita Desai - with whom she shares an inheritance, not of loss but of fine storytelling - has been shortlisted for the Booker thrice but never won. After her win, Kiran acknowledged the debt: "I wrote this book so much in my mother's company that it feels almost like her book.' While the two craft very different literary landscapes, they do have many things in common, including the habit of escaping to Mexican villages to write. The 88-year-old Anita's last novella 'Rosarita', which released last year, was also set in Mexico. Kiran's longlisted 'The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny' which will be out in Sept, has taken almost two decades to take shape. By her own admission, she writes slowly, piecing her novels together like a jigsaw puzzle. Going by the promos, the storyline seems almost filmi: a love story about two young people who first see each other on a train. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo But, as always, she remains conscious of her role in the wider world, exploring themes like migration, modernity, and the complicated bonds that link one generation to the next. "Intimate in its details, epic in its reach," is how Manasi Subramaniam, editor-in-chief at Penguin Random House India, describes it. "While it is about the weight of familial love, the violence of class and the ache of displacement, it is sharp, funny, tragic and endlessly surprising," says Subramaniam.

Sunjay Kapur's widow, Priya, deletes her Instagram profile after name change amid Rs 30,000 crore estate battle
Just days after being appointed as a non-executive director at Sona Comstar , a company in the automotive components sector that was once headed by her late husband, Sunjay Kapur , Priya Sachdev made notable updates to her online presence. These digital changes seemed to signal both personal and professional transitions. Her Instagram bio, prior to the account's deletion, included her new title at Sona Comstar. Interestingly, she also altered her profile name to read ' Priya Sunjay Kapur ,' shifting from her earlier handle, 'Priya Sachdev Kapur.' The name change was perceived by many as a symbolic step toward consolidating her identity within the Kapur legacy. While no specific reason was given, the timing raised questions about her motives and the shifting dynamics within the Kapur family and corporate structure. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play War Thunder now for free War Thunder Play Now Undo A Shocking and Sudden Tragedy The backdrop to these developments is deeply tragic. Sunjay Kapur died unexpectedly during a polo match in England. What appeared to be a routine event turned fatal when he suffered cardiac arrest after inadvertently swallowing a bee. His sudden passing left family, friends, and close associates in shock. His final rites were conducted in New Delhi, with attendees including his former wife, actress Karisma Kapoor , and their children, Samairaa and Kiaan. Since then, a dispute over his estate, estimated to be worth Rs 30,000 crore, has been unfolding in public. It was later reported that Sunjay had arranged substantial financial security for his children, having issued bonds valued at Rs 14 crore for each. He had also transferred the ownership of a property to Karisma, ensuring long-term stability for his family. Rani Kapur Raises Concerns Adding complexity to the situation, Sunjay's mother, Rani Kapur, addressed the board of Sona Comstar in a letter sent just before the company's annual general meeting. In her communication, she expressed discomfort about being pressured into signing documents without proper context. Though she refrained from naming individuals, speculation quickly turned toward Priya Sachdev. Rani also voiced unease about certain people attempting to present themselves as official family spokespersons. Priya shares a son, Azarius, with Sunjay and has a daughter, Safira, from her previous marriage to hotelier Vikram Chatwal. Notably, Safira recently dropped her father's surname from her social media identity, choosing to go simply by her first name. From Modeling to Matrimony Before becoming known in business circles, Priya had a brief stint in the entertainment world. She started her career as a model in the early 2000s and made a cameo appearance in the film Neal 'n' Nikki. Her marriage with Vikram Chatwal ended in 2011 after a prolonged custody dispute. In 2017, she tied the knot with Sunjay Kapur, who had previously been married to Karisma Kapoor. In a candid conversation recorded just weeks before Sunjay's death, Priya had described his previous marriage as unconventional. She spoke openly about their blended family, expressing affection for all of Sunjay's children and portraying their household as a unified and loving one. A Legacy in Transition Priya's new role at Sona Comstar and the simultaneous transformation of her public identity suggest a period of transition, both emotionally and strategically. Although no formal legal battles have emerged so far, various statements, digital changes, and key corporate decisions indicate a quiet yet decisive reordering of control over the Kapur estate. With succession issues looming large, attention remains firmly fixed on Priya Sunjay Kapur and the unfolding future of one of India's most prominent business dynasties.
