Mohan Bhagwat to visit Kanpur amid RSS focus on going beyond caste
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat will arrive in Kanpur on Saturday on a two-day visit. He is scheduled to attend several meetings and visit two ongoing training camps. These camps aim to prepare volunteers aged 40 or below to work towards fostering a casteless and socially neutral environment.
The RSS initiative comes at a time when the Central government is preparing for a caste-based Census, expected in 2027.
The RSS's second-in-command, Dattatreya Hosabale, has already been in Kanpur for the past two days, providing training to volunteers on building a society that transcends caste distinctions.
The first camp, known as Vikas Varg, is being held at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya School in Nawabganj. It is a regional (Kshetra-level) camp comprising RSS workers from various districts across eastern Uttar Pradesh.
The second camp, Shiksha Varg, is taking place in Meharban Singh ka Purwa — the native place of Samajwadi Party ideologue Harmohan Singh Yadav. Part of his family is now seen to be moving closer to the BJP. This is the first time the Sangh has organised such an event in this traditional SP stronghold.
RSS leaders said Bhagwat would visit and address both training camps. An open session will be held on June 10 at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya School, where people from all sections of society are expected to participate.
During his previous visit to Kanpur in mid-April, Bhagwat had stressed that all castes deserve equal rights, urging swayamsevaks to unite diverse social groups under a singular Hindu identity. He had called on each RSS worker to reach out to every household, both urban and rural, to propagate the Sangh's message.
The ongoing training camps are seen as preparing the ground for that grassroots campaign. Set to continue until June 10, the camps will culminate with deployment of trained workers across towns, settlements and remote villages to engage at least one member from every household and bring them into the Sangh's ideological fold.
Addressing volunteers on Friday, Hosabale said, 'We must build a society that is not based on caste. The RSS has worked in this spirit for decades. As we enter the centenary year of the Sangh, we must remember that swayamsevaks have toiled selflessly—giving their time, money, and blood—to bring the organisation to where it stands today.'
He said the RSS remains globally unique as a movement where workers have collaborated for decades without knowing one another's caste.
In a separate interactive session with trainees, he discussed personal and academic concerns and reiterated that the RSS aims to mould ideal citizens who live by the principle of 'Nation First'.
'One's work is not merely for personal or familial benefit, but for national and global welfare,' he said.
He recounted the lives of senior pracharaks like Bhaurao Deoras, Anant Ram Gokhale, and Ashok Singhal, who had given up promising careers to devote themselves entirely to the service of the nation.
'The Sangh may not engage in conventional activities,' he said, adding, 'but through spiritual discipline, it produces workers who will never abandon a cause that serves the nation. They will go wherever national interest demands and mobilise others to do the same.'

Haryana: Chargesheet filed against Goldy Brar, 4 others in Gurugram grenade attacks case
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed charges in court against Canada-based gangster-terrorist Satwinder Singh alias Goldy Brar and four others for orchestrating grenade attacks on two Gurugram clubs in December, the agency announced on Saturday. The December 10, 2024 attacks targeted Warehouse Club and Human Club in Sector 29, with investigators linking the violence to a broader conspiracy by the banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) to spread communal disharmony across Haryana. The chargesheet names Sachin Taliyan, Ankit, Bhawish and US-based Randeep Singh alongside Brar. All accused except Brar and Randeep Singh have been arrested. The NIA investigations revealed that Brar, a designated terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, masterminded the conspiracy from his base in Brampton, Canada. The agency said the terror syndicate actively extorts money, raises funds, procures explosives and weapons, and intimidates civilians to threaten national security. Brar, a close associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, faces multiple terror cases. The NIA has already charge-sheeted him for the December 2023 murder of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, president of the Hindu right-wing Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, in Jaipur. He is also wanted for orchestrating the May 29, 2022 assassination of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. Brar was designated a terrorist under UAPA in January 2024. From Canada, Brar allegedly supervises Bishnoi gang operations whilst assisting pro-Khalistan outfits including BKI in weapons smuggling, drug trafficking and targeted killings, the agency stated. How Ggm blasts are linked to Chandigarh A web of inter-state criminal links has emerged in the investigation into the Gurugram bar blasts, with UT police uncovering key connections to Chandigarh and Haryana's Hisar district. Two accused, Ajit and Vinay, played a direct role in the attacks carried out at two popular Sector 26 bars, acting on the instructions of gangster Randeep Malik. Ajit and Vinay, both Hisar natives, had allegedly delivered a bomb to a person for the Gurugram blasts and were arrested by Chandigarh police after a brief encounter in Hisar on November 29 last year. The duo was involved in hurling bombs at Seville Bar Lounge—owned by rapper Badshah—and De'Orra Dance Bar in Sector 26, Chandigarh, between 3:15am and 3:30am on November 26. Investigations revealed that gangster Randeep Malik, a Jind native now based in the USA, orchestrated the blasts. Malik directed the accused to collect explosives in Karnal and a pistol from Sahil, a murder accused lodged in Jind jail. The handover took place near Rohtak. According to Chandigarh police, Malik, previously booked in 2011 for assault and intimidation, recruits youth from Hisar and Bhiwani into crime. He advised the accused to turn off their phones and escape to Hisar and then Rajasthan after the blasts in Chandigarh. Malik coordinated the attack with gangster Goldy Brar, whose approval allegedly preceded the blasts, the cops said.

Aaditya Thackeray could experience jail this monsoon, says Nitesh Rane
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: During his visit to Tuljapur in Dharashiv, BJP minister Nitesh Rane said Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray might face imprisonment in the coming monsoon period. Rane suggested that discussions about Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS merger are being circulated to deflect attention from ED's investigation of actor Dino Morea, whom he identified as Aaditya Thackeray's friend. "All details have arrived in the (Dino Morea) case, and (Sena-UBT chief) Uddhav Thackeray's son could soon experience a jail trip this monsoon," he said. The fisheries and ports minister emphasised on the connection between Aaditya Thackeray and Morea. The ED conducted searches at various sites, including Morea's Mumbai residence, investigating the Rs 65 crore Mithi river desilting scam. The agency has summoned Morea for questioning next week. Regarding the potential merger between Sena (UBT) and MNS, Rane described it as a private matter between the Thackeray cousins. "They fought each other without consulting us, and will not tell us now if they plan to unite," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Rane also said both Sena (UBT) and MNS have no combined political strength, considering their minimal legislative representation. "They hate the Hindu religion, criticise mega events like Maha Kumbh," he added. Leader of opposition in the state legislative council Ambadas Danve, however, dismissed Rane's statements, describing him as politically inexperienced and suggesting that even BJP members don't take his comments seriously. "Rane is known for talking nonsense, and there is no need to react to his remarks on Aditya Thackeray," he told TOI. At a subsequent party gathering in Dharashiv, Rane emphasised BJP's supremacy and its rightful claim to the chief minister's position. "No matter how much power someone shows, no matter how anyone throws tantrums, remember that the country has BJP's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the state has Devendra Fadnavis as chief minister," he said. These remarks came amidst tensions between local BJP and Shiv Sena units regarding District Development and Planning Council work sanctions in Dharashiv.

Mevani attacks BJP over atrocities on Dalits, weaker sections in Gujarat
Congress's Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mevani on Saturday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah's silence on alleged incidents of atrocities against Dalits, adivasis and other weaker sections in Gujarat, and announced that the party will hit the streets to raise the issue. Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters in the Capital, Mevani accused the PM, the Home Minister and the RSS of 'putting the values of Manusmriti above the Constitution'. Citing the low conviction rate in cases of atrocities on Dalits, Mevani said at the national level, this figure is 30-35%, but in Gujarat it is only 3-5%, which means 95% of the culprits in the state go scot-free. The Congress leader told reporters that several incidents of Dalit atrocities have been reported from Gujarat such as the murder of a 19-year-old Dalit youth in Amreli, the alleged setting ablaze of a Dalit senior citizen in Patan and the alleged gangrape of a Dalit girl in which BJP members are alleged to have been involved. 'The Congress is preparing to launch a massive demonstration in August-September against atrocities being afflicted on Dalits, adivasis and those from the weakened sections in Gujarat,' he announced.
