Bill to rename Nashville airport after Donald Trump stalls over $10.3M cost projection
State fiscal analysts have estimated the name change could cost BNA more than $10 million.
Legislation seeking to rename Nashville International Airport after President Donald Trump stalled Monday afternoon after state fiscal analysts estimated the change could cost the airport $10.3 million.
But it's not dead yet.
Rep. Todd Warner, R-Chapel Hill, took House Bill 217 off notice on Monday afternoon, typically a sign that the legislation won't move forward.
But — with questions over how the cost estimates were made — Warner is pledging to try again.
'More than likely, I'll bring it back,' Warner told The Tennessean, adding that he plans to meet with fiscal analysts this week to seek an update to the fiscal note.
House Bill 217 would require the Metro Nashville Airport Authority to surrender the existing BNA trademark, and erect appropriate signs and markers re-designating the facility as 'Trump International Airport' by January 2026.
According to estimates provided to the state by the airport authority, renaming and rebranding the airport would cost $10,340,000 — with $3.59 million going toward new signage.

The airport has recently updated some signage at the 4,500-acre property, including a 40-foot-tall BNA monument, as part of existing renovation and expansion projects.
Warner argued that the state gives the airport millions of dollars each year, while the city's contribution is comparatively small, so the state should have a say in what the airport is named.
'President Trump is the second president elected to two nonconcurrent terms, and his America First agenda also puts Tennessee first,' Warner told The Tennessean. 'I think it would be a great tribute to a great president.'

Clerks from all 55 WV counties gather for election conference at Canaan Valley
DAVIS, (WBOY) — While the 2026 elections may still be months away, county clerks and election officials from across the state gathered in Tucker County this week to prepare for the polls next year. Representatives from all 55 counties were in attendance at the Canaan Valley Resort in Davis for a three-day conference hosted by West Virginia Secretary of State Kris Warner and his Elections Division staff. 'We do this as a lead-up into each election, mid-term or general election. It's my first election conference as newly elected Secretary of State, so we're very pleased with the fact that, again, all 55 counties are participating,' Warner said. WVDEP approves permit for proposed Tucker County data center The conference focused on voter registration, federal guidelines, absentee voting, election day preparation, ADA compliance for polling locations, canvassing and election night reporting. Warner said that more than 200 representatives from across the state were present this week, and that events such as this help West Virginia's municipalities stay prepared for election season and allow citizens to vote with confidence. 'It's the clerks that get the job done, and when you have all 55 counties represented, you know that it's going to be another great year, and another election where people can show up and vote, and have confidence in the system, get unofficial results on election night and ten days later have those election results certified, so it's very rewarding,' Warner said. 'Empower Local Creators' New Kid-Friendly Pop-Up Channel Sends Warner Bros. Discovery Stock (NASDAQ:WBD) Down Slightly
Having kid-friendly, or at least family-friendly, content on your streaming platform does tend to be helpful. There are plenty of families out there looking for entertainment that will not bore or traumatize the little ones, and that is where entertainment giant Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) came in. It launched a new 'kids pop-up channel' in the Middle East, hoping to make a connection with the young folks in the region. But investors did not feel the love, and sent shares down slightly in the closing minutes of Monday's trading. Elevate Your Investing Strategy: Take advantage of TipRanks Premium at 50% off! Unlock powerful investing tools, advanced data, and expert analyst insights to help you invest with confidence. The channel will not run for very long, reports note, only starting today and ending August 24. It will run in collaboration with OSN, reports note, and can be found on channel seven on OSN legacy boxes. For those with OSN Android boxes, meanwhile, the pop-up channel can be found on channel 10. The channel was launched as part of the 85 th anniversary celebration of Tom & Jerry, the cartoon cat and mouse duo that have been antagonists almost as much as they have been friends. It will also serve as a means for Cartoon Network—a Warner property—to cross-promote its own shows on the platform. Further, as noted by vice-president of pay TV networks Sean Gorman, it also serves as a means to '…empower local creators, providing them with the tools and platform to produce high-quality, locally relevant content.' Though how that will happen in the week the channel exists is somewhat unclear. The Analysts Question A new report recently emerged in the wake of Warner's second quarter earnings call a while back. Apparently, analysts on the call asked some very interesting questions of Warner, and the responses were particularly telling. For instance, one point that got an answer came from Goldman Sachs analyst Michael Ng, who asked about Warner's plans to use DC and other franchise properties in theme parks and live events. Warner noted here that it would be focusing on licensing and partnerships rather than outright building theme parks. Meanwhile, MoffettNathanson analyst Robert Fishman asked about licensing content to third-party streamers. Warner noted it would focus on HBO Max, but would '…assess licensing opportunities case by case.' Is WBD Stock a Good Buy? Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Moderate Buy consensus rating on WBD stock based on 10 Buys and eight Holds assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 55.31% rally in its share price over the past year, the average WBD price target of $13.57 per share implies 14.85% upside potential. Disclosure

New Streaming Bundle in Southeast Asia Sends Warner Bros. Discovery Stock (NASDAQ:WBD) Blasting Up
Entertainment giant Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) had an absolute winner of a day today. The biggest point that gave Warner the advance it did was establishing a new streaming bundle partner in Southeast Asia, which gave Warner access to quite a few new potential customers. The move was tremendous for Warner, and investors responded accordingly. They sent Warner shares up nearly 8% in the closing minutes of Wednesday's trading. Elevate Your Investing Strategy: Take advantage of TipRanks Premium at 50% off! Unlock powerful investing tools, advanced data, and expert analyst insights to help you invest with confidence. Warner is getting together with Viu, a major streaming service in Southeast Asia that will give Warner access to the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia. This means that Viu's standard streaming packages will also come with HBO Max available, and give Warner potentially a major new influx of customers from three different countries. That should be especially welcome, as recent reports suggested that Warner's latest upfront was essentially tainted by Warner's loss of NBA games. In fact, the reports note that things got so bad that Warner did not reveal advertiser commitments, despite the fact that most of its competitors have already revealed the commitments on their end. While Warner did talk about the upfront in general terms, like '…strong pricing and resilient demand for sports programming, and firm pricing for general entertainment,' points like how 2025 compared to 2024 were noticeably absent. Sound Coverage Meanwhile, on the topic of Warner's sports coverage, reports offered a recent look into, of all things, audio transmission for the UCI Mountain Bike World Series. We know that the deal between Warner and Union Cycliste Internationale has been in play for quite some time—since 2023 at last report—but less well-known is what Warner has done to make for immersive coverage through audio. Reports note that Warner has merged drone footage with audio tracks to provide insight into '…how the bike sounds and how the crowd sounds….' It also increased the total number of microphones on the field to capture sound, and has plans to start incorporating audio directly from the athletes themselves. Is WBD Stock a Good Buy? Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Moderate Buy consensus rating on WBD stock based on 10 Buys and eight Holds assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 61.21% rally in its share price over the past year, the average WBD price target of $13.57 per share implies 12.47% upside potential. Disclosure
