Ruru Madrid signs off as Lolong as series wraps up filming: ‘What a journey'
On Instagram, the Sparkle star shared some snaps taken from the set of 'Lolong' along with a heartfelt reflection on his role.
'Kagabi, natapos na ang huling taping day ng Lolong. Hanggang ngayon, may sepanx pa rin. What a journey,' he wrote.
According to Ruru, playing the role of Lolong was never easy because it comes with some sacrifice.
'Dumaan kami sa matitinding pagsubok, lalo na nung hindi ako makagalaw dahil sa injury. Kailangan naming baguhin ang takbo ng kwento. Pero hindi tumigil ang laban. Hindi bumitaw ang bawat isa. Lahat nag-step up, nagkaisa, at piniling lumaban para sa isa't isa,' he said.
'Pinilit kong bumangon at magtrabaho kahit may iniinda, dahil alam kong kailangan nila ako—at kailangan namin ang isa't isa. Dahil para sa amin, ang totoong tagumpay ay nasa samahan, sa puso, at sa tibay ng loob,' the actor added.
Ruru expressed his gratitude to everyone who was part of "Lolong," saying that the show taught him invaluable lessons both as an actor and as a person that he will carry with him moving forward.
'I'm beyond grateful na muling bigyang-buhay ang karakter ni Lolong. Isang bihirang pagkakataon na maipagpatuloy ang kwento ng isang karakter na sobra kong minahal. To revisit his story, wear his skin again, and fight his battles—what a blessing,' he said.
The Kapuso star also thanked GMA Network for believing in him as well as for the opportunity to bring back Lolong for the second time.
'Sobrang laking bagay nito para sa akin. Hindi ko ito kailanman kakalimutan. Salamat sa lahat ng sumuporta at sumama sa paglalakbay namin,' Ruru wrote.
As 'Lolong' comes to an end, Ruru expressed his hope that viewers will stay with them until the final episode, as the show is especially dedicated to them and to every heart that continues to fight.
'Hindi dito nagtatapos ang Lolong—dahil ang tunay na bayani, hindi kailanman nawawala,' he said.
In a previous interview, Ruru said that the "Lolong" series gave him courage and changed him not just as an artist but as a human being.
The Kapuso Primetime Action hero first played the title character in 2022 when "Lolong" Season 1 premiered.
In "Lolong: Pangil ng Maynila," Lolong (Ruru) moves to Manila for a fresh start after losing his powers. There, he encounters action-packed adventures and challenges.
The series airs Mondays to Fridays at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras" on GMA Prime.

Rhian Ramos recalls time she almost quit showbiz
Rhian Ramos revealed that she once came close to leaving the entertainment industry entirely. According to Nelson Canlas' report on '24 Oras' Tuesday, Rhian started her TV career with 'Captain Barbel,' followed by more of her memorable projects like 'Lalola,' 'Ilumina,' 'Stairway to Heaven," and more. The Kapuso actress shared that GMA Network has witnessed her entire adulthood journey. 'Literally wala akong isang kahit isang adult experience na hindi ako Kapuso. All of the officers of the network are my family and this network has even seen me at my worst. So, for me, it's such an honor to be able to promise the network that I'm going to give them nothing but my best from now on,' she said. However, her tenure in showbiz led to what Rhian described as a 'love-hate relationship' with her work. 'There was a time that I almost quit,' she admitted. 'I think when you do any job or anything for a long time, I think there is a point na nagiging love-hate relationship. May mga times na inspired ka naturally kasi magaganda 'yung role or whatever, may mga times din na parang napapagod ka din and parang gusto ko gumawa ng something bago.' During this period of contemplation, Rhian considered pursuing business. 'More on business where I felt like 'yung value ko would be different. Siyempre nauso din ang bashing 'di ba? Josh Ford still saving up for surgery to fix his ear drum after 2023 car accident
Josh Ford has a perforated ear drum after the tragic car accident that took the life of his fellow actor Andrei Sison and two others back in 2023. The former "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition" housemate was the only survivor of the crash, which gave him the moniker "Ang Survivor Lad ng United Kingdom" inside Bahay ni Kuya. On the sidelines of the GMA Gala 2025, GMA News Online spoke to Josh about the surgery he needs for his left ear, which he previously revealed to house guest Gabbi Garcia in PBB. "I'm still trying to save up for the surgery and if I have time sana magawa ko na rin," he said. "Kasi it takes a while for it to heal. Mahaba 'yung recovery period niya." "Hopefully soon, magawa ko na. Blessings for more income, more money para lang magawa ko na," he added. Josh told Gabbi he has two holes in his ear drum and he is slowly losing his hearing in the left ear. The doctor initially said there's a chance it might heal by itself, but in a checkup before entering PBB, he was told he would need surgery. To protect his ear, Josh wears an earpiece when showering or swimming. The Filipino-British actor also said he did not want to burden his mother with the surgery costs. "My dad was the only provider talaga, my mom was a housewife. Tapos nung nawala siya, wala, lahat napunta sa mom ko. So ayoko naman ilagay rin sa kanya 'to," he said. Josh currently stars in the second season of Kapuso youth-oriented series "Maka." He previously appeared in GMA Prime series "My Guardian Alien," "Luv Is: Love At First Read," and "Jose and Maria's Bonggang Villa."
