‘Tilak Pravesh Dwar' to enhance Ayodhya's spiritual stature

Lucknow/Ayodhya: The UP govt is building an entrance gateway, 'Tilak Pravesh Dwar', on the Panchkosi Parikrama marg in Ayodhya . Located near the sacred Hanuman Gufa, the Rs 1.89 crore project is being executed by the Ayodhya Development Authority as part of the UP govt's broader vision for the city. Nearly 60% of the construction work is already complete. Far beyond being a mere architectural structure, the gateway is envisioned as a powerful emblem of Ayodhya's rich spiritual heritage, religious grandeur and cultural pride, officials said. Designed to offer a majestic and spiritually enriching entry to devotees undertaking the Panchkosi Parikrama, the gate will combine classical temple architecture with modern construction techniques, showcasing Ramayana-era elements, traditional craftsmanship and religious symbolism. The gateway is expected to elevate Ayodhya's image not only as a spiritual centre but also as a vibrant hub of tourism and cultural beautification. The surroundings will be adorned with an impressive façade, intricate stone carvings, sculpted pillars, thematic lighting, and lush landscaping. Special focus is being placed on quality and aesthetics to ensure the gate becomes a prominent landmark and attraction for visitors. Commenting on the project, vice-chairman of the Ayodhya Development Authority, Ashwini Pandey said, "The Tilak Pravesh Dwar will significantly enhance the city's spiritual stature and will also be an architectural marvel. Every effort is being made to complete it on time and dedicate it to the public ahead of upcoming religious festivals. We aim to make it a memorable and soul-stirring experience for devotees and tourists alike. " Once completed, the gateway will serve as a new spiritual and visual landmark, inspiring awe in the lakhs of devotees and tourists who travel the Panchkosi Parikrama route every year, officials said. ‘Better roads, cleanliness making temple town global destination'

1 2 Temples are not just places of worship — they are also centres of economic activity and pride, said author Akshat Gupta while speaking at a session on 'Life, Travel and Play: The Real Impact of Infrastructure in New Uttar Pradesh', held during TOI Dialogues on Thursday. The panel brought together voices from literature, sports, and cinema to decode the transformative role of infrastructure in people's everyday lives. Gupta, known for his writings on Indian mythology and history, said that the state's temple cities like Ayodhya, Kashi, Mathura, and Chitrakoot were witnessing cultural and economic revival. "Better roads, cleanliness, lighting, and transport facilities are turning temple towns into global destinations. Pilgrimage is no longer an isolated activity—it's a driver of jobs, hospitality, and connectivity," he said. Former Indian cricketer RP Singh highlighted the rise of sports infrastructure across Uttar Pradesh. "From Basti to Bareilly and Prayagraj to Saharanpur, we are now seeing stadiums coming up. This encourages youth to take sports seriously," he said. Singh applauded the govt's investment in sports academies and rural outreach, which have improved access and exposure for young athletes. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Argentina: Kitchen Remodeling Trends in 2025 May Surprise You Kitchen Remodeling | Search ads Search Now Undo "Sports should be taught as a subject in schools and colleges to make India a sporting nation. Though we have progressed on the world stage, we need to do better," he added. Actress and social activist Gul Panag brought in a personal and gendered perspective on travel and mobility. "As someone who travels frequently by road and air, I can confidently say that connectivity in Uttar Pradesh has vastly improved. The expressways, well-lit highways, and increasing number of airports make travel smoother and safer — especially for solo women travellers," she said. Panag pointed out that the 'ease of movement' also supports working women, small entrepreneurs, and tourism operators by reducing time and logistical challenges. She also appealed to the govt to start programmes that inculcate education about civic sense — and ensure its enforcement. All three panellists agreed that infrastructure is not just about cement and steel, but about access, dignity, and aspiration. Vizag station to grow from 8 to 14 platforms under Rs 466 crore upgrade

1 2 Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam railway station will have six more platforms, including island platforms, added to the existing eight platforms. This is part of a major redevelopment project aimed at transforming the station into a world-class transportation hub to ease congestion. Visakhapatnam, one of the three biggest railway stations in the state, will cater to the increasing needs, amenities, and demands of passengers. It will also create a commercial and cultural centre with this 466 crore redevelopment work, which will be completed by 2027. The station will have 14 platforms to handle the growing number of trains and passengers. Initially, authorities planned for two platforms, later increasing the number to four, and now it has reached six as Visakhapatnam has become the headquarters for the newly formed South Coast Railway. Apart from this, there will be yard remodelling works to prevent any hiccups in trains entering and leaving the station. As per the plan, there will be two more lines added to the existing two tracks from Gopalapatnam to Visakhapatnam station, which will reduce congestion and improve operational efficiency. After winning a court case, the redevelopment project gained momentum as the detailed project report was sent to the Railway Board and is awaiting approval. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Lara Green Is Retiring - Her Final Jewelry Pieces Are 80% Off Artisan Weekly Read More Undo Meanwhile, authorities have begun levelling works on the Gnanapuram side, where the railways have a large chunk of land. The first phase of the project will focus more on the construction of new platforms. Visakhapatnam station, one of the top 20 stations handling the highest number of passengers in the country, usually accommodates around 50,000 to 60,000 passengers on general days and above 75,000 during festival days. The redevelopment will provide new escalators and an air concourse of 72 metres, which will have a large open space elevated above the tracks. This will serve as a waiting area with seating arrangements for passengers and a point of connection between different parts of the station, including platforms. The DRM of the Waltair Railway, Lalit Bohra, said that a new contractor has taken up the works and it will be completed as per the scheduled time. The Waltair division is constructing fencing on both sides of the tracks from Vizag to Duvvada and Palasa to avoid cattle and sheep on the tracks, allowing trains to run at 160 km/h from the existing 130 km/h.
