PlayStation Plus announces August 2025 free games including 'one of the best'
Gamers on a budget will be buzzing to know that Playstation Plus has dropped the monthly games line-up for August 2025 - and if you are a subscriber then they are all free of charge and available for your enjoyment.
PlayStation's version of Xbox Game Pass - a subscription service providing access to a library of games for a monthly fee - brings a selection of titles to the service every month for subscribers to try out.
The service celebrated its 15th anniversary in July and the PlayStation Plus 15th anniversary celebrations are still going strong. From August 5, PlayStation Plus members can claim a special set of 15th Anniversary Avatars, featuring fan-favorite titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo IV, God of War Ragnarök, and Twisted Metal.
These are all available at no additional cost. But as we stand on the cusp of a new month, we're giving you all the details on the latest batch of PlayStation Plus free games. Here's what you'll be playing in August 2025.
Lies of P, Day Z and My Hero One's Justice 2 will be available to PlayStation Plus members from August 5.
Lies of P | PS5, PS4
This game draws its inspiration from The Adventures of Pinocchio.
"In this grim reimagining of Carlo Collodi's treasured tale, Pinocchio is trying to find the mysterious Mr. Geppetto," the game synopsis reads. His journey takes him to Krat, a Belle Époque-inspired city whose humanity has been lost to madness and killer puppets.
"Pinocchio must battle for survival using a range of weapons and swappable Legion Arms with special abilities. He will also encounter non-hostile characters, but you will have to help him lie to fulfil his dream of becoming human."
Day Z | PS4
DayZ is a hardcore survival game where up to 60 players must strive to endure a post-apocalyptic world populated by frenzied infected and other survivors.
"DayZ includes the original iconic map of Chernarus and Livonia – the dense 163 km2 map which lets players experience the hardcore survival hit in a whole new environment," Playstation execs explained.
"With no checkpoints or saves, when you die, you lose everything and have to start over."
My Hero One's Justice 2 | PS4
My Hero One's Justice 2, the over-the-top follow-up to the smash hit 3D arena fighter My Hero One's Justice, makes its heroic debut. Make full use of characters' Quirks as you clash head-to-head in epic battles across huge arenas.
So far, gamers seem impressed by August's line-up, with many taking to X, previously Twitter, to share their views.

Russell Grant's horoscopes as Cancer told to keep an eye on finances
Today's horoscope for Friday, August 1 are brought to you by Russell Grant. Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 20) Early on, some exciting news will give you a lot to think about. You or someone close to you will receive word of an inheritance, small win or bonus. The excitement of hearing about an unexpected gain will be short-lived as there are a few outstanding debts to consider. Taurus (Apr 21 - May 21) Make caution and safety a priority no matter where you happen to be. This warning lingers until nightfall as any efforts to take bold actions could end in disappointment. Problems that look difficult can be overcome, with care. Gemini (May 22 - June 21) You will happily share a smile with a stranger. It will give you pleasure to lavish an expensive gift on a distant relative or your partner. That's all well and good but pause first and consider your finances before getting out your wallet. Cancer (June 22 - July 23) Once again, you could find yourself lamenting over your finances, realising you've spent beyond your means. But take heart, as your financial troubles are on the verge of being resolved, thanks to the support of a generous relative. Be honest with them when they need answers. Leo (July 24 - Aug 23) Step back from your daily grind for the sake of your happiness. Allow yourself to dream and imagine the person you aspire to be. Go with your imagination even if it takes you to unexpected places. You might want to act immediately on a sudden idea. Virgo (Aug 24 - Sept 23) Try to encourage peace and harmony. If the atmosphere is getting tense, take a break from your usual routine and head for a place that's more tranquil and inviting. It is possible to find a refuge. Problems will persist but you can take a break from them. Libra (Sept 24 - Oct 23) Some bizarre ideas are being shared in conversations. You can imagine where these might lead and almost believe every one could be a success. Even so, avoid making hasty decisions. This isn't a day for reckless actions or risks. Delay important choices. Scorpio (Oct 24 - Nov 22) Responsibilities are starting to get you down. People expect too much from you. Work pressures increase and it will be a loved one who truly understands what you are going through. Show your appreciation by treating them to a meal at a restaurant this evening. Sagittarius (Nov 23 - Dec 21) A dilemma will not be easily resolved. Contention in a group will be more pronounced than ever. You have your own thoughts about this but you aren't sure how much to actually reveal. One way to avoid making mistakes is to listen to the quiet voice within. Capricorn (Dec 22 - Jan 20) The receipt of a large sum of money will allow you to pay off loans and debts that have been a burden for far too long. Be proud of this. Going forward, you need to make it a priority to live within your means. Do this and you will avoid accumulating more debt. Aquarius (Jan 21 - Feb 19) You will be offered ways to advance your career. This is your chance to explore some promising possibilities. You don't need to rush to respond to the first one that comes your way. Stay alert and steer clear of scams and untrustworthy people. Pisces (Feb 20 - Mar 20) If you're feeling unwell, ignoring your health and forcing yourself to get on with responsibilities even when you aren't up to it can lead to chronic fatigue and stress. To restore your energy and strength, take a break and moderate your work enthusiasm.

Roman Kemp banned from speaking to Hollywood star after interview prank backfired
Roman Kemp got off on the wrong foot with the A-lister with security being called in to remove hm. Roman Kemp has admitted that he's banned from talking to one huge A-lister after a car crash interview with the star that went very wrong. The 32-year-old confessed he was escorted out by security during a 2015 press junket with Jennifer Lawrence, 34 after a prank failed to land. He had been interviewing the Oscar winner as a part of her promo tour for her film Joy but explained he had not seen the list of pre-approved questions from his Capital FM producers before the cameras started rolling. Their discussion quickly became awkward when the actress provided short, clipped answers and said that the experience "sucked", barely engaging with the conversation. However, it was a prank gone wrong that appears to have sealed Roman's fate. The I'm A Celeb star had pretended to be a superfan and unveiled a fake tattoo of Jennifer Lawrence's face on his chest which reportedly caused the actress to call in security and have him removed from the room. Reflecting on the uncomfortable incident in an Instagram post on Tuesday, Roman wrote: 'Found this old picture of when I interviewed Jennifer Lawrence and for fun pretended to be a mega fan complete with a tattoo… She did NOT find it funny. I was escorted out by security and told I would never interview her again.' Roman, whose parents are Spandau Ballet's Martin Kemp and singer Shirlie Holliman, wrote in follow-up post: 'Tbf still haven't had the chance to redeem myself or explain the situation to her…' During the exchange over a decade ago, Jennifer was visibly unimpressed by Roman's questions, which included asking her what her favourite type of cheese was. One moment saw him read her a poem supposedly written in her honour, prompting her to sarcastically reply: 'Wow, that was incredibly touching.' Things went from bad to worse when Ronan claimed to have a tattoo dedicated to her and began unbuttoning his shirt to reveal the fake inking. Jennifer responded, deadpan: 'Oh my god. Oh man, wow right over your heart. I would expect nothing less. I'm flattered and honoured, it looks so permanent. How did they get it so glossy?' Roman then explained how his dad is Martin Kemp and hinted that he would like to take her on a date to one of his dad's concerts. She replied, stone-faced: 'To meet your dad? Coolest date ever.' Despite the awkward exchange, Roman clearly took it all in good humour. Speaking about the experience on The Chris Ramsey Show in 2018, he called it his 'trickiest interview' to date. He revealed: 'She's not having the best day clearly. She hasn't said hello to me, she hasn't acknowledged me, she's just sat there on the phone like this… 'I've already sat down and said 'hi how are you?' and all this type of stuff, [she] just said nothing. I was like, 'yeah I'm already in the questioning her'.' Recalling the hilarious moment when he unveiled the fake tattoo, he said: 'She said nothing after that and then the security guard got up and asked me to leave. 'I am now banned from interviewing Jennifer Lawrence.'
