Russell Grant's horoscopes as Cancer told to keep an eye on finances

Daily Record3 days ago
Today's horoscope for Friday, August 1 are brought to you by Russell Grant.
Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 20)
Early on, some exciting news will give you a lot to think about. You or someone close to you will receive word of an inheritance, small win or bonus. The excitement of hearing about an unexpected gain will be short-lived as there are a few outstanding debts to consider.

Taurus (Apr 21 - May 21)
Make caution and safety a priority no matter where you happen to be. This warning lingers until nightfall as any efforts to take bold actions could end in disappointment. Problems that look difficult can be overcome, with care.

Gemini (May 22 - June 21)
You will happily share a smile with a stranger. It will give you pleasure to lavish an expensive gift on a distant relative or your partner. That's all well and good but pause first and consider your finances before getting out your wallet.

Cancer (June 22 - July 23)
Once again, you could find yourself lamenting over your finances, realising you've spent beyond your means. But take heart, as your financial troubles are on the verge of being resolved, thanks to the support of a generous relative. Be honest with them when they need answers.
Leo (July 24 - Aug 23)
Step back from your daily grind for the sake of your happiness. Allow yourself to dream and imagine the person you aspire to be. Go with your imagination even if it takes you to unexpected places. You might want to act immediately on a sudden idea.

Virgo (Aug 24 - Sept 23)
Try to encourage peace and harmony. If the atmosphere is getting tense, take a break from your usual routine and head for a place that's more tranquil and inviting. It is possible to find a refuge. Problems will persist but you can take a break from them.
Libra (Sept 24 - Oct 23)
Some bizarre ideas are being shared in conversations. You can imagine where these might lead and almost believe every one could be a success. Even so, avoid making hasty decisions. This isn't a day for reckless actions or risks. Delay important choices.
Scorpio (Oct 24 - Nov 22)
Responsibilities are starting to get you down. People expect too much from you. Work pressures increase and it will be a loved one who truly understands what you are going through. Show your appreciation by treating them to a meal at a restaurant this evening.

Sagittarius (Nov 23 - Dec 21)
A dilemma will not be easily resolved. Contention in a group will be more pronounced than ever. You have your own thoughts about this but you aren't sure how much to actually reveal. One way to avoid making mistakes is to listen to the quiet voice within.

Capricorn (Dec 22 - Jan 20)
The receipt of a large sum of money will allow you to pay off loans and debts that have been a burden for far too long. Be proud of this. Going forward, you need to make it a priority to live within your means. Do this and you will avoid accumulating more debt.
Aquarius (Jan 21 - Feb 19)
You will be offered ways to advance your career. This is your chance to explore some promising possibilities. You don't need to rush to respond to the first one that comes your way. Stay alert and steer clear of scams and untrustworthy people.
Pisces (Feb 20 - Mar 20)
If you're feeling unwell, ignoring your health and forcing yourself to get on with responsibilities even when you aren't up to it can lead to chronic fatigue and stress. To restore your energy and strength, take a break and moderate your work enthusiasm.

Oasis fans hit with Covid 'superspreader' warning ahead of Murrayfield gigs

Experts are urging pandemic-style precautions ahead of the Edinburgh leg of Oasis' hotly-anticipated tour They are the live performances that Oasis enthusiasts in Scotland have been anticipating all summer, with Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher finally travelling north of the border for three sold-out shows at Murrayfield Stadium. ‌ The iconic brothers will be taking to the Edinburgh stage on August 8, 9, and 12, when eager fans will finally hear hits like 'Wonderwall' and 'Don't Look Back in Anger' for the first time since the pair's infamous fallout 16 years ago. ‌ However, with just five days until the band's first Scottish performance since 2009, supporters are being cautioned that the latest variant of Covid is circulating amongst music enthusiasts attending the Live 25 reunion tour. ‌ Ironically, the Stratus variant is recognised for causing people to develop a hoarse voice – rather like frontman and Britpop wildman Liam Gallagher, who has been troubled by laryngitis and other throat ailments. The virus has been circulating at London's Wembley Stadium, where Oasis have now completed five nights, with specialists recommending pandemic-style precautions before the Edinburgh portion of the tour. ‌ Over 200,000 people will pack into Scottish Gas Murrayfield, with the Scottish capital already heaving due to the Fringe, reports the Scottish Daily Express. Akash Sood from Knightswood Pharmacy said: "New strands of Covid can infect thousands within metres of one another, so wear a mask if concerned, be safe and enjoy the return of Oasis." The danger of contracting Covid at the concerts has also been emphasised by a team working on a documentary about the brothers' comeback tour. ‌ Fans heading into Wembley were greeted with a notice stating: "You acknowledge the contagious and potentially dangerous nature of Covid-19 and that the government and many public health authorities recommend social distancing." The message continued: "You acknowledge that there remains the possibility that you may come into direct or indirect contact with Covid and you freely and willingly enter this area." ‌ The newly identified Stratus strain comprises two variants, XFG and XFG. 3, with XFG.3 responsible for 30 per cent of all Covid cases in England, as reported by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA). Dr Alex Allen, Consultant Epidemiologist at UKHSA, said it is "normal for viruses to mutate and change over time" and confirmed that the agency continues to monitor all strains of Covid within the UK. Dr Kaywaan Khan, a Harley Street GP and Founder of Hannah London Clinic, described its symptoms as 'mild to moderate,' and other signs of Stratus are similar to that of other Covid strains. Dr Khan advised: "If you test positive, Stratus is highly contagious, and it is advised to stay home and isolate to avoid spreading to others." The NHS explains that symptoms of Covid can include:

Sue Radford stops daughter Katie from visiting home with young son as she admits 'struggles'

Sue Radford was seen giving her daughter Katie some "tough love" in the latest episode of 22 Kids and Counting Sue Radford prevented her daughter Katie from popping round to their family home with her little lad in the latest instalment of their reality programme as part of her "tough love" approach. ‌ The Radford family first found fame when they appeared in their own Channel 5 show 22 Kids & Counting where they document the life of their large and ever-growing family. ‌ During the most recent episode, viewers saw new mum Katie struggle with motherhood as she relocated from an 11-bedroom family mansion where she resided alongside her numerous brothers and sisters, to a cramped flat. ‌ She gave birth to her first baby Ronnie with her partner of six years Connor Carter last October, though things haven't been entirely plain sailing for the 22-year-old. During the programme, she revealed her battles with night-time feeding sessions every two hours alongside feeling "isolated" and regretting her decision to move out, reports the Mirror. ‌ Shortly after welcoming her son Ronnie Hudson Carter into the world, the pair relocated to a compact flat situated just two hours away from the family residence. Katie has been struggling particularly since her partner Connor returned to his job. Discussing the circumstances, she explained: "A baby takes up a lot of room, there just wouldn't have been room in my mum and dad's house for us all. ‌ "Last night, he woke up every two hours... I don't think anything prepares you for having your own, I didn't expect this to be me. Connor went back to work today and it is harder, you've got to do everything yourself. "It is a lot harder living on your own. At home you've got your parents and your siblings to help, whereas when you're at your own place you've got to do it on your own. I wasn't prepared for any of that - the loneliness." ‌ Katie revealed she particularly yearns for her mum and dad and confessed it feels as though she's completely alone. Later in the programme, Katie admits she longs for the hectic atmosphere of living at home surrounded by her numerous brothers and sisters. The mum-of-one had been popping back to the family house almost daily, but mum Sue felt compelled to dish out some "tough love". She explained: "She was coming round every single day, 8:30am and then not going back until 6pm - I think she was missing everybody." She continued: "Katie coming round to the house every day is not really gonna help her settle into being in the flat on her own. Trying to help her, there's got to be a bit of tough love there." One scene captures Katie strolling with Ronnie as she remarks: "My mum's text - said I can't come round very strange." She reveals: "Memories like Ronnie's first smile or his first giggle, I'd like to share the moments with all my family, they're missing out on that. Some days I do regret moving from home." Magda Szubanski breaks down in tears in moving acceptance speech as she is inducted into the 2025 Logies Hall of Fame

Magda Szubanski broke down on Sunday night as she gave an emotional acceptance speech via video call during her 2025 Logies Hall of Fame induction. The comedian, 64, was unable to attend the event in person because she is immunocompromised as she undergoes treatment for stage 4 cancer. But that didn't stop the Kath and Kim star from bringing the audience to tears with laughter and sadness as she graciously accepted the honour. 'I am so sorry I cannot be there. I do have a good excuse this time, normally I don't come because I can't be bothered getting out of my pyjamas,' she said. 'This time there really is a reason. I want to say first of all, let's get this out of the way, I have not been awarded this honour because I have the cancer.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'I am getting this because of 40 years of hard work. Lobbying, bribing, threatening, whatever it took. Finally it has all paid off,' she joked. Magda then struggled to contain her emotions as she thanked her friends, fans, and supporters. 'The love and support that I have felt, like a tsunami, from the Australian public, it has been overwhelming and I have to tell you, it really helps,' she began. 'I did not think I was going to cry,' she then added as she teared up. 'When I go online and look at those messages, every time, my heart lifts. And I feel that much stronger to deal with the cancer. 'So thank you for the love that you are pouring my way, I really feel it.' A wave of A-list stars stepped out to help induct Magda into the Hall of Fame on Sunday night. Today Extra co-host David Campbell introduced the segment, with Magda being the godmother to his daughter Betty, seven. Stars who shared their tributes included big names like Hamish Blake, Dannii Minogue, Ally Langdon, Julia Morris, and Poh Ling Yeow. The Irwins, Melissa McCarthy, Rebel Wilson, and Kathy Lette were also among many others who shared kind words for the Australian star. Marg Downey accepted the award on her behalf. Magda is the fifth woman to be inducted into the Hall of Fame since it was introduced in 1984. She has joined the likes of Ruth Cracknell, Noni Hazlehurst, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, and Rebecca Gibney. Two months ago, Magda revealed she had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She appeared on camera with a shaved head to reveal the shocking news after beginning her treatment for cancer. 'Hello, my lovelies. So, the head is shaved in anticipation of it all falling out in a couple of weeks because I have just been diagnosed with a very rare, very aggressive, very serious lymphoma,' she said. Magda also revealed she has started treatment in Melbourne called the Nordic protocol, which treats mantle cell lymphoma by shrinking the tumours with a combination of drugs administered in five phases. It's known as the Nordic regimen based on its clinical trial sites in Denmark and Norway. The actress explained she will be 'lying very low' due to her weak immune system.
