A US-German citizen has been charged in a failed attempt to firebomb the US Embassy branch in Tel Aviv. On May 19, 28-year-old Joseph Neumeyer allegedly spat on a security guard and fled, leaving behind a backpack containing three Molotov cocktails. Israeli authorities tracked him to a nearby hotel and arrested him. He was deported to the US and taken into FBI custody at JFK Airport. Prosecutors say Neumeyer had posted violent threats online, including plans to attack the embassy and assassinate Donald Trump. He now faces up to 20 years in prison. Officials call it a serious threat to American lives and diplomatic security.

Kanpur: Three persons were burnt alive when a mini-truck collided with a dumper and caught fire in Bangarmau area of Unnao on Wednesday morning, police said. The deceased included both drivers and a cleaner while another helper managed to escape. It took two hours for the firefighters to extinguish the flames and retrieve the bodies. Immigration fraud will cost you: USCIS warns on false citizenship claims

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has issued a sharp warning to immigrants: lie about being an American, and you could be barred for a policy update, USCIS said it is 'restoring robust screening and vetting processes to detect aliens seeking to defraud or abuse the immigration system,' stressing that 'aliens who use false information or deceitful practices to unfairly obtain immigration advantages will face serious consequences.'advertisementThe revised guidance in the USCIS Policy Manual focuses on the 'false claim to US citizenship' ground of inadmissibility, a rule Congress put in place to protect the integrity of citizenship rights. Since September 30, 1996, any false claim of citizenship made for an immigration or legal benefit renders an alien permanently inadmissible, usually without the possibility of a waiver. USCIS noted that Congress carved out a narrow exception for those who permanently resided in the United States before the age of agency also cited a 2019 ruling by the Board of Immigration Appeals in Matter of Zhang, which found that a false claim to citizenship can carry immigration consequences even if it was not knowingly made. USCIS incorporated that decision into its policy manual in 2020, clarifying that 'it is not necessary to show intent to find an alien inadmissible for a false claim to US citizenship.'According to the agency, the update 'provides the steps an officer should follow to determine inadmissibility' and outlines the factors considered when evaluating a false claim case. The new rules apply immediately to all pending and future said the effort is also about awareness. 'We are actively increasing public awareness among aliens and the public about the consequences of committing immigration fraud,' the agency stated.- EndsTune InTrending Reel

FBI Warns Of Russian Hacks Targeting US Critical Infrastructure

Hackers associated with some of Russia's most prolific cyber espionage units have over the last year been leveraging a vulnerability in older Cisco software to target thousands of networking devices associated with critical infrastructure IT systems, the FBI and Cisco said on Wednesday. Hackers working within the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Center 16 are extracting "device configuration information en masse, which can later be leveraged as needed based on then-current strategic goals and interests of the Russian government," Cisco Talos researchers Sara McBroom and Brandon White wrote in a threat advisory published to the company's blog. In a separate advisory, the FBI said that over the last year it had detected the hackers collecting configuration files "for thousands of networking devices associated with U.S. entities across critical infrastructure sectors." In some cases the configuration files are modified to enable long-term access for the hackers, who use that access to conduct reconnaissance in targeted networks, with a particular interest in industrial control systems. The Russian embassy in Washington did not respond to a request for comment. Moscow denies conducting cyber espionage operations. The hackers are exploiting a seven-year-old vulnerability in Cisco IOS software, targeting unpatched and end-of-life network devices, according to a separate threat advisory published on Wednesday by Cisco Talos, Cisco's threat intelligence research unit. Other state-backed hackers are likely conducting similar hacking operations targeting the devices, the Cisco Talos researchers wrote. Organizations within the telecommunications, higher education and manufacturing sectors across North America, Asia, Africa and Europe have been most targeted, "with victims selected based on their strategic interest to the Russian government," the researchers said. The hacking unit linked to the activity has been operating for at least a decade, according to the researchers, and is likely a subgroup within the FSB's Center 16. In March 2022 the U.S. Department of Justice charged four Russian nationals within the group of illegally targeting the global energy sector between 2012 and 2018.
