The post The real reason for Brock Lesnar's WWE return revealed appeared first on ClutchPoints.
At the end of the 2025 WWE SummerSlam PLE, the 'Beast Incarnate' Brock Lesnar made his return to the company after a two-year absence, during which he was named in Janel Grant's lawsuit against Vince McMahon.
He confronted John Cena, who had just lost the WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes. Lesnar, who sported a new look with longer hair than the last time he was seen, confronted the 17-time world champion. He delivered an F5 to Cena before walking out of the ring.
It appears they are now on a collision course, perhaps for a match at Clash in Paris or Crown Jewel. Cena and Lesnar have been intertwined for years. They came up in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) at the same time. They both reached their peaks in their WWE careers in the early 2000s.
Cena's farewell tour may be why Lesnar came back. During the 2025 SummerSlam post-show (around the one-hour mark), Paul 'Triple H' Levesque hinted that a match with Lesnar was Cena's request.
'This is John Cena's wishlist — it's him writing the last chapter of his book,' Triple H revealed. Triple H never name-dropped Lesnar, but he did say he asked Cena, 'Who do you want? And how?'
Now, WWE and Cena are 'working through' that list. Fans who watched the 2025 SummerSlam PLE may have had déjà vu to the 2021 SummerSlam. At that event, Lesnar made his return to the company to confront Roman Reigns and attacked Cena once the show was off the air. Lesnar also came back to WWE in 2012 to feud with Cena.
What does Brock Lesnar's WWE return mean?
WWE fans will have to wait and see where things go with Lesnar. He rarely wrestles on free TV, so expect his next match to happen at a PLE.
Fans have not seen Lesnar in WWE since the 2023 SummerSlam event. He faced Rhodes in the rubber match of their feud. Rhodes won, and Lesnar, who was a heel at the time, turned babyface afterward and raised the 'American Nightmare's' arm.
He then went on a hiatus, as Lesnar does. However, plans for his return were scrapped when he was seemingly linked to the Janel Grant lawsuit. He was later named in the lawsuit, further muddying his future as a professional wrestler.
But now, he is back. We will see if they explain his return in the near future. It also remains unclear if his return is for a one-off feud with Cena or if he has other feuds planned.

John Cena-Priyanka Chopra's ‘Heads Of State' Among Prime Video's Top Films

Indian star Priyanka Chopra Jonas is elated that Amazon Prime Video's new original movie, Heads of State, is now the fourth most-watched film ever on the platform. A press release from Prime Video announced that the film garnered 75 million views worldwide. Directed by Ilya Naishuller (Hardcore Henry, Nobody), the film features Chopra along with John Cena and Idribs Elba in lead roles. The film released on July 2 and remained among the top most-viewed films worldwide on Prime Video for four weeks. Priyanka Chopra Jonas-John Cena-Idris Elba's Heads of State garners 75 million+ views In its debut week, Heads of State secured the fifth spot on Nielsen's Movie chart, clocking 1.098 billion minutes streamed in the USA. Lead actors John Cena and Priyanka Chopra Jonas expressed their gratitude towards the audience soon after the viewership announcement on social media. According to Flixpatrol, Heads of State was among the top ten most-viewed films worldwide for a month on Amazon Prime Video. Cena plays the US president, and Elba is the prime minister of the UK while Chopra is an MI6 agent in the film. The film is produced by Amazon MGM Studios. Heads of State also features Stephen Root, Paddy Considine, Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid and Sarah Niles. The action comedy is streaming on Prime Video in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. In India, Heads of State was the fifth most-watched film online in its debut week, Ormax Media recorded 1.7 million views in India for the film in the week ending July 6. The next week, it doubled the Indian viewership and climbed to fourth spot on the list. In its third week, Heads of State slid back to fifth position on the list. Heads of State is an action fictional comedy that shows a US President and the UK Prime Minister who need to thwart a global conspiracy to save the world, and they must set aside their rivalry to do so. Their close ally in the mission is the brilliant MI6 agent Noel Bisset (Chopra). The president and the prime minister have a lot going on - the latter doesn't appreciate the fact that the former was elected as the head of his country because he was a huge Hollywood star. As heads of two countries majorly deciding the course of most global actions, they must be seen as allies. Despite their differences, they must appear to agree on important ideologies and steps. Both the actors offer a charming camaraderie in the process. They are playful and cheerful, yet authoritative. Chopra adds an interesting twist to the equation. She brings the agility and expertise of a secret agent while keeping it curtly passionate with her ex. The film is a fun-filled action ride which offers adrenaline-rush in the action sequences and lighthearted comedy in others. It also pushes political commentary with subtlety, making it possible for the audience to thoroughly enjoy the movie even if they are not aware of the politics. Earlier in July, Heads of State director Naishuller hinted at the possibility of having a sequel. In an interview with Screenrant, Naishuller said creating more of 'Jack and Marty' would be fun, if people enjoy the movie, and Amazon "feels like it makes sense to do a second one". The 2024 Christmas action comedy Red One ranks on top of the list of most-watched films worldwide on Prime Video ever. The film features Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans in lead roles and is directed by Jake Kasdan. Ben Affleck-starrer The Accountant 2 is the second most-watched Amazon MGM movie on the platform, with 80 million global views. It was directed by Gavin O'Connor. The Tomorrow War ranks third on the list, right above Heads of State, Deadline reports.

WWE Strikes $1.6 Billion USD Deal With ESPN

Summary In a landmark agreement that reshapes the sports entertainment landscape,WWEhas finalized a multi-year deal withESPN, granting the Disney-owned company exclusive U.S. domestic streaming rights to all WWE Premium Live Events. The deal, valued at $1.6 billion USD over five years, marks a significant strategic victory for WWE and a pivotal move for ESPN's ambitious new streaming service. The agreement, which begins in 2026, will see all of WWE's marquee events—includingWrestleMania, SummerSlam, Royal Rumble and Survivor Series—move exclusively to ESPN's platforms in the U.S. This marks a major shift from WWE's current partnership with NBCUniversal's Peacock, which is set to expire in March 2026. This move aligns WWE's distribution model more closely with that of the UFC, which has seen immense success under the ESPN banner. For ESPN, the deal is a cornerstone of its new direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming service, which is launching on August 21st at a price of $29.99 USD per month. WWE's 'immense, devoted and passionate fanbase' is a key draw, with ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro noting that the addition of WWE's biggest events will bolster their content portfolio and 'drive our streaming future.' The statement reads, 'WWE has an immense, devoted and passionate fan base that we're excited to super-serve on our new ESPN DTC platform. This agreement, which features the most significant WWE events of the year, bolsters our unprecedented content portfolio and helps drive our streaming future.' The deal not only grants ESPN the rights to the premium live events themselves but also the opportunity to stream pre- and post-show content, fully integrating WWE into its sports media ecosystem. Mark Shapiro, president and chief operating officer of TKO said, 'We are proud to reinforce the 'E' in ESPN at such an exciting juncture in its direct-to-consumer journey. WWE Premium Live Events are renowned for exactly the type of rich storytelling, incredible feats of athleticism and can't-miss, cultural tentpole experiences that have become synonymous with ESPN. Through our UFC relationship, we have experienced firsthand how transformational an ESPN presence can be, and we know this will be an exceptional partnership at a time of great innovation for both companies.' This partnership is part of a larger, aggressive push by ESPN to secure high-profile live event rights ahead of its new streaming service. The company recently finalized a deal with the NFL, which includes an equity stake for the league in exchange for media assets, and is reportedly in talks with Major League Baseball for a new rights package. The WWE deal, therefore, positions ESPN as a formidable force in the streaming wars, leveraging a wide range of live sports and entertainment to attract a diverse audience. While the deal is a massive financial success for WWE, it comes with a potential challenge for fans. The new ESPN streaming service will cost $29.99 USD per month, a significant increase from the $10.99 USD monthly price WWE fans currently pay for Peacock's unlimited plan. However, reports suggest that existing cable and satellite subscribers who receive ESPN as part of their package may be able to access the new WWE content at no additional cost through authentication. This development sets the stage for a new era of WWE viewing, where a single, dedicated platform becomes the exclusive home for all of the company's biggest events. Grayson Waller Is In The Best Shape Ever After Dropping A Huge Amount Of Weight

Grayson Waller feels like a new man. Austin Theory and Grayson Waller have been teaming as 'A-Town Down Under' for the better part of two years now. However, WWE teased their split and an eventual feud for the past several months. Despite the tease, the duo never broke up and feuded. In fact, the 'official' split took place off camera, and it happened without much of an explanation. Last week, Waller sent a message to 'all five' of Austin Theory's fans on social media. (This was after Waller tried to join The New Day on WWE RAW.) Waller says Theory's fans should thank him for saving Theory's career after John Cena buried him on WWE RAW two years ago. 'Big G' said he wasted two years making Theory relevant, but that's over now. Now, Waller has continued taking shots at Theory on social media. Waller joked that he's in the best shape of his life now that he has dropped '220 lbs of dead weight.' Theory is reportedly out with an injury. His last match was a loss to El Grande Americano on the July 17 episode of WWE Main Event. A-Town Down Under's last match was a win over the LWO on the May 26 episode of Main Event. In May, Waller also shared his frustrations with Theory on The Amin Show. Waller said that Theory is a good guy, but he lacks a certain killer instinct. 'For right now, we are working as a team. Maybe he's not working the same way that I am. I think the problem with Austin Theory is that he's a good guy. He's not what people assume he is, and that kind of frustrates me at times, like he's not willing to do whatever it takes. We're walking into the venue, and he wants to stop and take photos with the kids and the fat blokes with the black shirts on. That's just not me. I'm there to work, I'm there for myself, and sometimes we don't see eye to eye. But the problem is, we're both supremely talented, so as a tag team, we work pretty well,' Grayson Waller said.
