January Royal Rewind: Palace Unveils Gorgeous Black-and-White Pic of Kate Middleton & Surprising Vid of Prince William

Yahoo31-01-2025

2024 was a whirlwind year for the British royal family. In December alone, we got to watch Kate Middleton, 43, and her three kids at her annual holiday concert, we saw a surprisingly candid interview from Prince William, 42, and we of course got the Wales family Christmas card.
But 2024 is long gone and 2025 is looking to be just as busy a year as the last.
In fact, today marks the final day of the month, so I'm calling out a few of Kensington Palace's biggest royal events, outings and memorable moments from the last 31 days in a January Rewind. Here, the highlights.
Early this month, Kensington Palace shared a gorgeous photo on Instagram in honor of Princess Catherine's 43rd birthday—and it came with a beautiful message from her husband, Prince William. The black-and-white photo taken by photographer Matt Porteous was accompanied by this caption from Prince William: "To the most incredible wife and mother. The strength you've shown over the last year has been remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you. Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you."
Just days later, Princess Catherine shared the remarkable news that her cancer is in remission.
The Princess of Wales returned to The Royal Marsden, which is the same center where she received treatment. Following the visit, she posted pics and a message on IG, saying, "It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal."
Prince William also appeared at a number of important outings. He headed to west London to visit a charity called Centrepoint, where he showed off his athletic skills by participating in a sparring lesson.

Then, in Liverpool, he got his hands dirty as he visited the Cycle of Life social club and explored the Welsh Streets. In a surprising Instagram post, the future monarch can be seen interacting with the Cycle of Life team and focusing intently as he works on the wheel of a bike. Another slide also shows the prince breaking royal protocol by posing with fans for a selfie.
Meanwhile, Kensington Palace also shared a radiant throwback of the Princess of Wales. In the photo, she is all smiles as she gently holds the hand of a baby. The caption gave a major update regarding the expansion of the Alarm Distress Baby Scale (ADBB) trial.
Then, the Prince and Princess of Wales were quite busy in the last days of the month. They shared a beautiful poem for Burns Night, appeared together for an official event honoring the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and even took part in a pair of solo outings (Will had a science day and Catherine spent time with children).
Phew, what a month for the Wales fam.

Billy Bob Thornton Reflects on Reuniting with 'Hero' Sam Elliott for ‘Landman'

Filming for Landman Season 2 is well underway, and Billy Bob Thornton can hardly contain his excitement, not just for the plot, but who he gets to work with in the latest installment of the fan-favorite Taylor Sheridan series. In a May 2025 interview with Gold Derby, Billy Bob, who plays Tommy Norris on the show, revealed that he hopes to be working with Taylor and co. for the foreseeable future. "[Landman] is a show I'd like to work on for a while; I told Taylor, I said 'As long as you want me around, I'm here for this,'' he shares. 'I really love the show. I love doing it, I love playing this character, and I love the people I work with. Not only the cast, but the crew also is just stellar.' One Season 2 castmate, in particular, stands out. '[Sam Elliott] has always been a mentor and a hero of mine,' Billy Bob said in the interview. The two have previously shared the screen in 1883 and Tombstone. 'I love the guy, we have a real special relationship in real life… It's so good to see him; he lights my day up.' News of Sam joining the Landman Season 2 cast broke in April 2025, with many fans thrilled for the addition. 'Ooohhh I was hoping for another season and Sam just made me even more excited,' one fan commented on the show's Instagram reveal. 'The patch just leveled up,' someone else wrote. 'Perfect casting,' another fan concluded. Meanwhile, Ali Larter, who plays Angela Norris on the show, also appears to be happy with her newest castmate. 'Just three crows cackling,' she captioned a photo of herself with Sam and Michelle Randolph (Ainsley Norris). Again, fans couldn't contain their excitement over Sam's involvement in Season 2—even though his exact role remains unknown. 'Taking an already great show and making it exponentially better by adding Sam Elliott,' one fan commented. 'How epic! Sam Elliott will fit in like a glove on and off screen with Landman,' someone else wrote. 'Sam Elliott is in [the] cast! This show only gets better,' another fan exclaimed. As it currently stands, Landman Season 2 is set to premiere in November on Paramount+. In the meantime, we hope for plenty more BTS snaps of the cast. The 'Truth Hurts' singer, 37, shared a video on Instagram of herself dancing in a pink and gray string bikini in front of a backyard pool on Saturday, June 7. She also wore a black face covering as she swayed and moved to a track of herself rapping. 'BLACK TRUCK A-- POKING OUT THA WINDOW,' she captioned the post — which is also one of the lyrics to the song that played in the background. Lizzo is no stranger to a fun summer photo shoot. She shared a video of herself dancing and lip-syncing in a yellow and blue bikini and high heels on May 24 to celebrate Memorial Day. The musician has been vocal on social media and in interviews about her weight loss journey since 2023. She also has reminded her followers that the ultimate goal of her weight loss was to improve her mental health. 'Exercise has helped me shift my mind, not my body," she said in a May 2023 TikTok video. Later, in a March 2024 interview with The New York Times, Lizzo revealed that she had been 'methodical' with her health plan and was 'losing weight very slowly.' She also told the outlet that her idea of body positivity had 'evolved into body neutrality.' 'I'm not going to lie and say I love my body every day,' she explained. 'The bottom line is, the way you feel about your body changes every single day. There are some days I adore my body, and others when I don't feel completely positive.' In January 2025, the 'About Damn Time' singer shared two mirror selfies on Instagram overlaid with screenshots from an app that showed her weight goal had been achieved. 'I did it,' she captioned the post. 'Today when I stepped on my scale, I reached my weight release goal. I haven't seen this number since 2014! Lizzo has also been open about the intentional way she talks about losing weight. During an April 7 interview on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast, the singer said that she prefers the term 'weight release' to 'weight loss.' "My man, he's so funny,' she said, referring to her boyfriend, Myke Wright. 'He was the one that brought it to my attention at first. Because at first I was like, 'Oh my gosh, I lost five pounds,' and he was like, 'Where did it go?' " 'It's like, I don't think I want to lose anything. I think I want to win. I think I want to gain,' she added. Read the original article on People
