Yeah, Tyler Warren appears to be the player everyone thought he was.
The Penn State legend looks primed to be a star tight end for the Indianapolis Colts for a long time.
Is that an overreaction to Thursday night's preseason opener? Not if you take everything into consideration.
Warren was a do-everything tight end with the Nittany Lions (seriously, he passed and ran QB sneaks and was also a dominant receiver).
The Colts took him No. 14 overall in April's draft. Most boards had him as the TE1, although Michigan's Colston Loveland ended up going to the Bears at No. 10.

Warren has been one of the most impressive players of Colts training camp, and he showed off his abilities vs. the Ravens on Thursday.
"(Warren) made his anticipated debut and wasted little time making an impact," wrote ESPN's Stephen Holder. "Warren caught all three passes on which he was targeted, generating 40 receiving yards in the process. On his longest play, a 23-yard reception from Daniel Jones on a slant route, Warren showed the breadth of his talent, catching the ball cleanly and running 14 more yards after the catch."

The Colts have a QB situation to figure out. Anthony Richardson dislocated his pinkie and left the preseason opener early, leaving more time for Daniel Jones.
Richardson and Jones are said to be in a true open competition, so there's still plenty of suspense there.
There's no suspense at the tight end spot, though. Warren is the man, and he'll stay that way for as long as he remains in Indy.

Steelers get young buck breakout, lose to Buccaneers, 17-14

This article originally appeared on The Pittsburgh Steelers got big plays from a trio of key young players, and lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 17-14, but more importantly, also lost a pair of key players to injury. Wide receiver Roman Wilson continued the hot start to his first preseason with the team, making two catches for 72 yards in the first half. He had a 42-yarder that set up a Steelers touchdown from Mason Rudolph to Brandon Johnson. Rudolph had been looking for Wilson earlier in the game, and had him open, but under threw the second-year Michigan product. Rudolph was intercepted by Zyon McCollum, and that set up Tampa's first score, a pass from newly signed backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to running back Bucky Irving, who beat Payton Wilson in the end zone. Broncos offensive lineman carted off in preseason game against Cardinals

Broncos offensive lineman carted off in preseason game against Cardinals originally appeared on The Sporting News The Denver Broncos are clicking on all cylinders, though mainly with backups, against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday night. The only blemish in the game looks like it will end up being a tough injury to a player looking to make the team. Nick Gargiulo, an offensive lineman drafted in the seventh round out of South Carolina last year, was carted off with an apparent knee injury. Scouring through posts on X, it's probably not a replay you want to go try and find. Gargiulo spent the 2024 season on the practice squad, but had made a push to be part of the roster this season. At worst, he would have been stashed on the practice squad again. Now, it looks like it could be a season-ending knee injury. The Broncos have already dealt with as many injuries in this preseason as they did most of last season. Matt Henningsen and Johnny Walker, Jr. have been lost to season-ending injuries and both Drew Sanders and Nate Adkins are likely to miss the beginning of the upcoming season. We will wait for updates on his prognosis, but it certainly didn't look good on the field. 'You kidding me?': Fighters lose their minds over Lerone Murphy's KO of Aaron Pico at UFC 319

Lerone Murphy promised to show Aaron Pico isn't quite ready to get past the elite at featherweight on Saturday when he spoiled a heavily-hyped UFC 319 debut with a massive spinning elbow knockout. Murphy (17-0-1 MMA, 9-0-1 UFC) was tasked with welcoming Bellator and PFL veteran Pico (13-5 MMA, 0-1 UFC) to the octagon in the co-headliner at United Center in Chicago. Just like every other time in his career, he refused to lose and emerged with a METHOD triumph to further elevate his own profile in the 145-pound title picture. Check below for the top X (formerly Twitter) reactions to Murphy beating Pico at UFC 319.
