A Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) official is among those arrested by Bengaluru Police in the aftermath of the stampede that broke out during the team's victory celebration at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday.
The development comes after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ordered the suspension of Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda along with several other senior police officials following the stampede, which had left 11 dead and several more – which stood at 75 as per one report – injured.

CM Siddaramaiah had also called for the arrest of RCB franchise officials as well as representatives of event management firm DNA Entertainment Private Limited and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), the state cricket body that is headquartered at the Chinnaswamy.
Who are the RCB and DNA executives detained by Bengaluru police?
According to The Indian Express, Bengaluru Police arrested RCB marketing head Nikhil Sosale at the Kempegowda International Airport on Friday, with three executives from event management firm DNA – identified as Kiran, Sumanth and Sunil Mathew – also detained for questioning.
Sosale is the head of marketing and revenue for RCB at Diageo India – the British multinational alcoholic beverage organisation that owns a majority stake in United Spirits Limited, which in turn owns the RCB franchise.
According to India Today, interrogation is currently underway at the Cubbon Park Police Station, whose jurisdiction covers the Chinnaswamy Stadium where a First Information Report (FIR) had been filed on Thursday, a day after tragedy struck the Karnataka capital.

IPL champions RCB were named as accused number one in the FIR, with DNA and a top KSCA official named accused number two and three respectively. KSCA's secretary and treasurer currently are on the run, with cops unable to find them at their residences.
After offering condolences over the tragic incident late on Wednesday, hours after the stampede broke out, RCB announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of each victim.
The Siddaramaiah government announced a similar compensation for the victims' families along with free treatment for the injured at multiple hospitals in the city.

Meanwhile, senior IPS officer Seemant Kumar Singh has taken over as Bengaluru Police Commissioner after Dayananda and several other senior officers were suspended. 'I will immediately meet with my officers and take necessary steps regarding the incident,' Singh was quoted by The Indian Express as saying after taking charge.

Bengaluru stampede: RCB official, 3 others sent to judicial custody
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 6 (ANI): A Sessions Court in Bengaluru on Friday remanded four individuals, including senior Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) official Nikhil Sosale and three event managers, to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the stampede outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here. They were arrested in a joint operation by the Cubbon Park Police and the Central Crime Branch (CCB) at Kempegowda International Airport in the early hours of June 6 (Friday). Meanwhile, the Karnataka High Court on Friday granted interim relief to the office bearers of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), who had approached the court seeking the quashing of the FIR registered against them in connection with the stampede, which claimed the lives of 11 people. In an interim order, the court directed the state police to not take any coercive action against them until further orders. The High Court adjourned the case to June 9. KSCA President Raghu Ram Bhat, Secretary A Shankar, Treasurer ES Jairam, and other KSCA office bearers moved the High Court seeking to quash the FIR. Nikhil Sosale had also approached the High Court challenging his arrest. He claimed that he was arrested without any materials and even before the police had conducted a preliminary enquiry. He has thus sought to declare his arrest illegal. On Thursday, the Bengaluru police registered an FIR against the RCB franchise, DNA Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., an event management company; and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for culpable homicide, illegal assembly, and other serious charges. A day after the stampede that claimed the lives 11 people, the Karnataka police suspended multiple IPS officers, including the Bengaluru city police Commissioner, B Dayananda. London [UK], June 6 (ANI): Australia's seasoned quick Scott Boland is still in the dark about his potential appearance in the World Test Championship final against South Africa on Tuesday at the Lord's, a venue where he would 'love' to play. With match figures of 5/105, the 36-year-old was one of Australia's premier pacers when they lifted their maiden WTC mace at The Oval in 2023 against India. He boosted his credentials against India by scalping 21 wickets in three appearances as Australia celebrated its first Border-Gavaskar Trophy triumph in a decade. Despite his exploits, Boland has found himself in a neck-to-neck battle with IPL-winning seamer Josh Hazlewood for one spot in the defending champions' pace setup against the Proteas. With less than a week left for the enticing contest, Boland has yet to receive the green light from the selectors about his spot in the playing XI. 'I haven't had any chats with them (selectors).
