DOHA: His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has issued Amiri Decision No. 25 of 2025, appointing the Board of Directors of the Qatar Central Bank. The resolution stipulated that the Board of Directors of Qatar Central Bank shall be chaired by HE Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani, Governor of Qatar Central Bank, and HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Khalid bin Sultan Al Thani, Deputy Governor, as Vice Chairman, and the membership of HE Dr Saleh bin Mohammed Al Nabit, HE the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, HE the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, HE Dr Tami bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Bu Tami Al Binali, and Dr Khalid Nasser Al Khater. The resolution also stipulated that the term of membership in the board shall be four years, renewable for one or more similar terms. The decision stipulated its implementation and enforcement, and that it would be published in the Official Gazette.

Indian embassy, community celebrate 79th Independence Day

DOHA: The Embassy of India in Qatar has celebrated the country's 79th Independence Day with traditional fervour in Doha. A formal ceremony was held at the Indian Cultural Centre, attended by over 350 members of the Indian community and friends of India residing in Qatar. The ceremony began with the unfurling of the Indian tricolour by Ambassador of India to Qatar HE Vipul. The ceremony was followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the laying of wreaths in honour of Mahatma Gandhi. Ambassador Vipul then read out excerpts from the address delivered on the eve of Independence Day by President of India HE Shri Draupadi Murmu. The full text of the speech is available at In his remarks on the occasion, Ambassador Vipul emphasized the deepening diplomatic relations between India and Qatar and highlighted the establishment of a strategic partnership between the two countries during the successful visit of His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar to India in February of this year. He also recalled the successful meetings held by the Indian multilateral delegation in Qatar in May 2025. He also thanked the Qatari leadership for their unequivocal condemnation of the Pahalgam attack. The ambassador expressed his gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Government of the State of Qatar for their continued support and patronage of the Indian community. The ambassador commended the role and contributions of the Indian community, saying, 'Indians in Qatar play a pivotal role in India's development and the expansion of its relations with the world.' He also commended various Indian community organizations for their continued support in promoting the well-being and progress of the community. The celebrations were enriched by patriotic songs and vibrant cultural performances by members of the Indian community and school students. To ensure wider participation, the event was broadcast live on the embassy's official Facebook and YouTube channels, allowing those unable to attend in person to join virtually.
