PM Modi to flag off Ajni-Pune Vande Bharat Express on Sunday
This will be the third Vande Bharat Express from Nagpur, after the Nagpur-Bilaspur and Nagpur-Secunderabad routes.
The semi-high-speed train has been long awaited by passengers on one of the busiest rail corridors between Nagpur and Pune. The train will have nine commercial stoppages, including Wardha, Badnera, Akola, Bhusawal, Jalgaon, Manmad, Kopargaon, Ahmednagar, and Daund Chord Line.
After the inaugural run on Sunday, the regular service is likely to commence from August 14.
According to the schedule approved by the railway board, the 26102 Ajni-Pune Vande Bharat Express will depart from Ajni at 9.50am six days a week, excluding Monday, and reach Pune the same day at 9.50pm. Similarly, the 26101 Pune-Ajni will start from Pune at 6.25am and reach Ajni at 6.25pm the same day. Two rakes of Vande Bharat Express have been assigned, while primary maintenance will be done at Nagpur.
The Nagpur division has planned the inaugural run as a special service, while regular bookings are yet to start.

Initially, there were talks of the first sleeper Vande Bharat Express between Nagpur and Pune, given the high passenger volume on a daily basis. However, the railway board ultimately granted only AC CC (Chair Car) and AC EC (Executive Chair) coaches for this service.
The Nagpur-Pune route has high demand, but the premium fare for a sitting journey faces uncertainty. The AC CC fare is expected to be around Rs1,500, and the AC EC fare Rs3,000. The Howrah-Pune and Ajni-Pune AC special trains are the fastest, with 12.50 hours and 13.35 hours of travel time respectively between Nagpur and Pune. The fares for sleeper AC seats are relatively cheaper. Besides, these are overnight journeys, making them quite preferred for most passengers.

After Trump's ‘dead economy' remark, Modi calls India fastest growing economy
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said India is rapidly advancing toward becoming the world's third-largest economy, a momentum driven by the spirit of 'reform, perform and transform.' Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the gathering during the foundation stone laying of the Bangalore Metro Phase-3 project worth over ₹ 15,610 crore, in Bengaluru on Sunday. (DPR PMO) The Prime Minister's remarks came just days after US President Donald Trump's jibe calling India 'a dead economy.' Modi highlighted that in the past 11 years, India's economy has moved from the 10th position to the top five globally, and is on track to join the top three. Speaking at the foundation stone ceremony for Bangalore Metro Phase-3, while flagging off three Vande Bharat Express trains and inaugurating the Metro Rail Yellow line, Modi outlined India's growth across sectors, reinforcing the resolve for Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India). 'We are moving fast to become one of the top three economies of the world. How we got this speed? We got it through the spirit of reform, perform and transform,' he said, adding that this speed was achieved through 'clear intention and honest efforts.' On infrastructure, Modi added that metro rail services were limited to five cities in 2014, but now cover over 1,000 km across 24 cities, making India the third-largest metro network globally. Electrification of the rail network has doubled from 20,000 km before 2014 to 40,000 km as of 2025. Airports have increased from 74 to more than 160, and national waterways have expanded from 3 to 30. 'Till 2014, there were 7 All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and 387 medical colleges. It has now gone up to 22 AIIMS and 704 medical colleges, that are serving the people,' he said. Modi said the lives of the poor and marginalised are transforming alongside India's rapid progress. 'Before 2014 the total export was USD 468 billion but today it is USD 824 billion. We used to import mobile phones but now we are the top five exporters of mobile handsets. Our electronic export before 2014 was USD 6 billion which has gone up to USD 38 billion,' he said. India's automobile exports have also more than doubled, making it the fourth-largest automobile exporter globally. 'These achievements give strength to our concept of Atmanirbhar Bharat. We will march together, and build a developed India.' The Prime Minister said India's next big priority should be self-reliance in technology. Indian tech companies have gained global recognition, developing software and products worldwide. With PTI inputs

In tech city, PM Modi calls for tech self-reliance, says India on course to top 3 economies
Describing India as 'the fastest-growing major economy in the world', Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Sunday that it is in the top five globally and is 'rapidly progressing' to 'becoming one of the top three economies'. Addressing a gathering at IIIT-Bangalore emphasised that amidst evolving problems, India's next big priority should be becoming self-reliant in technology and that it was time for Indian tech companies to prioritise the country's own needs. 'Our next big priority should be becoming self-reliant in technology. Indian tech companies have made a mark globally, developing software and products for the entire world. It is now time to prioritise India's own needs more strongly and accelerate the development of new products, especially as software and apps are now being used across every domain,' he said after inaugurating critical mobility infrastructure projects in Bengaluru. He inaugurated the 19.16-km Yellow Line of Bengaluru Metro worth Rs 7,160 crore, thus expanding the city's metro network to 96 km. Vande Bharat trains were launched between Bengaluru and Belagavi, Nagpur and Pune, and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Amritsar. Calling for focused efforts, he stressed the need to strengthen Bengaluru and Karnataka's presence in Make-in-India and the manufacturing sector. He said India's products must adhere to the Zero Defect, Zero Effect standard, meaning they should be flawless in quality and have no negative impact on the environment. Underlining India's economic strides, he said, 'India is currently the fastest-growing major economy in the world. In the past 11 years, India's economy has risen from the 10th position to the top five globally, and is rapidly progressing toward becoming one of the top three economies.' He attributed this momentum to the spirit of 'Reform, Perform and Transform', driven by 'clear intent' and 'honest efforts'. He highlighted that before 2014, India's total exports had reached only $468 billion whereas today, that figure has risen to $824 billion. He also remarked that earlier, India used to import mobile phones, but now, the country is among the top five exporters of mobile handsets. He noted that Bengaluru has played a significant role in this transformation and that India's electronics exports now have increased to nearly $38 billion from $6 billion. He also highlighted that 11 years ago, India's automobile exports stood at approximately $16 billion and that figure has more than doubled, making India the fourth-largest automobile exporter globally. Acknowledging the contribution of the youth of Bengaluru and Karnataka in Operation Sindoor, Modi highlighted the success of Indian forces in the operation, noting their capability to destroy terrorist hideouts deep across the border. He attributed the success of Operation Sindoor to the power of technology and the strength of Make-in-India in the defence sector. Crop insurance boost: Agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to transfer Rs 3,200 cr PMFBY claims on Monday; new rules bring faster payouts
Agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will digitally transfer Rs 3,200 crore in crop insurance claims on Monday under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) to 30 lakh farmer beneficiaries. The transfer will take place during an event in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, attended by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Bhagirath Choudhary, and state agriculture minister Kirodi Lal Meena, PTI reported. According to an official statement, of the total claim amount, Rs 1,156 crore will go to farmers in Madhya Pradesh, Rs 1,121 crore to 7 lakh farmers in Rajasthan, Rs 150 crore to beneficiaries in Chhattisgarh, and Rs 773 crore to farmers in other states. Chouhan said the Centre has introduced a simplified claim settlement system in the interest of farmers, allowing proportionate payments based only on the central subsidy without waiting for the state's premium contribution. 'From the Kharif 2025 season onwards, if a state government delays its subsidy contribution, it will be penalised at 12 per cent, and similarly, if insurance companies delay payments, farmers will receive a 12 per cent penalty,' he stated. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Certificate in Technology MIT-TLIP Apply Now Undo Since its launch in 2016, PMFBY has disbursed claims worth Rs 1.83 lakh crore, against farmers' premium payments of Rs 35,864 crore. 'This means an average claim payout of more than five times the premium, indicating the government's farmer-friendly policy,' Chouhan said. The agriculture ministry noted that several technological initiatives — including YES-TECH, the WINDS portal, the AIDE mobile app, the Krishi Rakshak Portal, and helpline number 14447 — have improved claim settlement speed, enhanced transparency, increased weather data accuracy, and enabled farmer registration facilities at the village level.
