Amitabh Bachchan Announces Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 In Iconic Agneepath Style

The announcement video came after there was a widespread rumour surrounding Big B's departure from the show.
Amitabh Bachchan is gearing up to make a comeback with a new season of the widely popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati. Sony has confirmed that Big B is returning once again to challenge the contestants in season 17. The announcement came with a unique promo where Amitabh Bachchan was seen drawing inspiration from one of his legendary characters.
The announcement video started with a wealthy and arrogant man berating a salesman who allegedly damaged his carpet, which was imported from London. As the man kept accusing the salesman, he decided to drop some facts. He then proceeded to explain that the carpet's fibre and anti-dust properties proved that there was no actual damage done to the carpet. Before leaving, the salesman handed the so-called wealthy man a bit of cash and suggested he use it for his throat after all that yelling.
The scene then shifted to Amitabh Bachchan as he stepped into the frame and delivered the punchline and said, 'Jahan akal hai, wahan akad hai," which translates to 'Where there is wisdom, there is confidence." Towards the end of the clip, Big B was seen announcing the premiere date in the style of Vijay Deenanath Chauhan, one of his legendary characters from Agneepath, and said, '11 August se appointment hai apna, kya bolta hai? Appointment. English bolta hai."

The announcement video came after there was a widespread rumour surrounding Big B's departure from the show. Previously, a report by Bollywood Hungama suggested that Bachchan might be stepping down from the position of host due to personal reasons and Salman Khan would be considered as a potential replacement. The publication quoted a source who stated, 'Salman Khan is the king of the small screen, and the best face to replace Amitabh Bachchan is his, as he also has a strong connection with the audience in the smaller centres. Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan had hosted KBC, and if everything goes well, Salman will be the newest to take the television sets by storm."
However, Bachchan was quick to put these rumours to rest as he shared behind-the-scenes snapshots from the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 17, reaffirming his commitment to the show. With this new announcement and promo launch, there is no more doubt that Amitabh Bachchan will be donning the hat of a host in the brand-new season of KBC.

‘You can talk to Amitabh Bachchan only when he wants to,' says Kiran Kumar; compares working with Big B to ‘working with a virus'

Many actors have spoken about their experience of working with Amitabh Bachchan and how the megastar is known for his punctuality and humility despite his iconic status. In a recent interaction, veteran actor Kiran Kumar, who worked with Amitabh Bachchan in the 1992 film Khuda Gawah, recalled how Amitabh was a giving actor who would respond to every punch that landed on him. Speaking on Red FM Podcasts, Kiran said, 'Working with Amitabh Bachchan is like working with a virus. He is such a great actor and his passion is so great that he gets into your bloodstream. Once you work with Amitabh Bachchan, it's very difficult to get out of his aura, especially the way he treats you.' Talking about Amitabh's work ethic, Kiran shared, 'Some actors won't give reaction if a villain is beating them in films, but not Amitabh Bachchan. Amit Ji would give reaction at every punch that I would give him. He would get back 2 feet with every blow. He is such a wonderful actor, and he is so well informed about everything. You can discuss anything under the sun with him. But one thing that I have learnt about Amit Ji is that you talk to him only when he wants to talk to you.' Earlier, actor Kanwaljit Singh shared his memories of working with Amitabh Bachchan in the film Satte Pe Satta. He also recalled a kind gesture by Big B when he went beyond his professional obligation to attend his son's art exhibition. He said, 'Main bada ghabrata tha inse, 'Satte Pe Satta' ke time pe (I used to be very nervous around him during Satte Pe Satta). After the shoot, they would come to our hotel. They were staying at the Oberoi, while we were staying somewhere else. We used to play snooker. I was so nervous that whenever I took a good shot, I would look at him and say, 'Sorry.' Seeing this, he would say, 'Why, man? That was a good shot.' So I said, 'Alright.' Later, when my son, who is a painter, had an exhibition, I went to him. He specially told his secretary, 'Find a date for Kuku… I want to go.' And he came for the opening. Yeah, that's very sweet of him.' On the work front, Amitabh was last seen in Tamil film Vettaiyan, which also starred Rajinikanth in the lead role. Amitabh recently announced the new season of Kaun Banega Crorepati — KBC 17.
