Fortnite's Power Rangers live action trailer is easily its best one ever
The newest Fortnite season kicks off this week and will feature collaborations with the Power Rangers and Halo. It's often difficult to get excited about new Fortnite crossovers, not because there's too many of them (a game with Batman, Darth Vader, and Goku in it would've sounded impossible a decade ago) but because they're always leaked out weeks in advance by dataminers. As such, fans often know who will pop up in the next season before Epic Games says anything official. The most recent example being the Power Rangers, with reliable Fortnite dataminers claiming skins based on the original 90s TV show would arrive as part of the next season. So, how can Epic Games generate hype for something everybody already knows about (other than doing a better job of hiding unannounced content in the game's files)? The answer: a really good and genuinely fun live action trailer. Earlier today, the Fortnite YouTube channel uploaded a trailer for Fortnite Chapter 6: Season 4, subtitled Shock 'N Awesome, which begins this Thursday on August 7 and looks to involve the island being invaded by alien bugs. We'd have thought Ellen Ripley would be the one called in to help with that one, but she's already a skin in Fortnite, so the Power Rangers have been picked instead. Their arrival suddenly causes the animated cinematic to shift to live action and the trailer essentially turns into a fight scene from the original show. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. Aside from it having the same aspect ratio and grainy film quality, the rangers themselves are in actual suits and the bugs are reimagined as the kind of dopey looking 'just guys in suits' monsters you'd see in the show. The same goes for Fortnite characters like Peely (the sentient banana). The special effects are more modern, such as the red ranger summoning a minigun, but anyone with nostalgia for the 90s show will be suckered in, especially since a rendition of the Power Rangers theme song plays throughout. Early responses from fans on YouTube are very positive, with more than a few describing it as one of the best trailers Fortnite has ever done, if not one of the best gaming trailers ever. The trailer doesn't indicate what sort of cosmetics will be available in the new season, but according to dataminers like ShiinaBR, it will include skins for the red, blue, black, yellow, and pink rangers. More Trending The ending graphic features the green ranger so he's undoubtedly a skin as well, plus what is clearly a spartan from Halo, corroborating leaks that Xbox's shooter series will be crossing over this season too. This wouldn't be the first time, since Master Chief was added as a Fortnite skin back in 2020. Since it wasn't exclusive Xbox content, it was weird at the time to see Master Chief appear on PlayStation and Nintendo formats. It's not so bizarre now thanks to Microsoft's multiplatform push, with heavily rumoured plans for Halo games appearing on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Why Fortnite is adding more Halo now is a mystery, but it may hint at a reveal at Gamescom in a few weeks – perhaps the long rumoured, multiformat remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. BAND SHOCK Oasis' Wembley dates have been marred by the tragic death of one fan during the weekend. Oasis fan plunges to his death 'from upper tier' of Wembley stadium during reunion gig as witness reveals horror Liam and Noel both spoke of their "shock" following the tragic fall, which occurred during the Gallagher brothers' sell-out performance at Wembley on Saturday night. The man - aged in his 40s - was understood to be sitting in the upper tier of the stadium. The highest stands in the 90,000-seat venue are some 170ft above the ground. Police and paramedics attended to the man but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The brothers said they were "shocked and saddened" to hear about the fan's death. In a statement released on Sunday, they said: 'We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night. "Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.' LONDON CALLING Saturday's gig was the fourth of seven London shows on Oasis' blockbuster reunion tour. The band crashed ticket sites when they announced they were making a comeback last year - as more than 14 million fans tried to secure a seat at the highly-anticipated gigs. Last month Liam and Noel reunited on stage in Cardiff for the first time since a backstage bust-up broke up the band 16 years ago. The Britpop icons then returned to their hometown of Manchester for five dates in July. They performed a 23-song setlist of classic hits, including Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger and Live Forever to a roaring crowd of 80,000 people at Heaton Park. Marvel Tōkon beta sign-ups aren't working but there's a very easy fix
As fans sign up for the Marvel Tōkon beta, a supposed character leak is being dismissed as an AI generated typo. Fighting game tournament Evo 2025 took place over the weekend and anyone who attended was able to test out Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, the new PlayStation exclusive fighting game in the works at Guilty Gear studio Arc System Works. If you were hyped by the announcement trailer in June, and feeling mighty jealous that others got to play it early, you'll be happy to know that a closed PlayStation 5 beta was announced at Evo (there'll be no PC beta unfortunately) and will arrive in just a month's time. Registration is open on the PlayStation website, but some people seemingly aren't able to register due to an 'invalid link.' Fortunately, though there is a workaround for the problem. Registering for the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls beta is incredibly easy. All you need to do is follow this link and complete a registration form. This doesn't automatically guarantee entry to the beta, but it does mean there's a chance you'll receive an invitation from Sony via email. So, be sure to keep an eye on your inbox (and junk folder) as the start date approaches. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. But what do you do if you click to register and you're met with the dreaded 'invalid link' message? We tried registering ourselves and were told 'The link has already been used or has expired. You won't be added as a participant for this beta.' What this means is that the link Sony's directing people to isn't for the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls beta specifically, but the general PlayStation Beta Program. Sony opened this programme up to PlayStation owners back in March and it basically serves as a catch-all for PlayStation 5 beta tests. So, if you previously signed up for the programme, you've already got a shot at participating in the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. If you are receiving an 'Invalid Link' error when signing up for the Closed Beta, it is because you've previously signed up for the PlayStation Beta program and you're all set for Closed Beta registration. 🤜🤛 — MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls ➡️ EVO 2025 (@MARVELTokon) August 3, 2025 The Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls beta is scheduled to run from Friday, September 5 to Sunday, September 7. Exact start and end times have not been confirmed but it's three days long, so you should have plenty of time to get a go. While eight characters were announced for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls during its reveal trailer, the beta will only feature six of them: Captain America Iron Man Star-Lord Ms Marvel Storm Doctor Doom Speaking of characters, word recently spread that Doctor Strange's inclusion has been leaked, as he was mentioned in the video description for IGN's upload of the beta announcement. More Trending 'Players can take a dip into the wider Marvel Universe to duke it out in intense fighting battles with Marvel's biggest heroes including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Storm, Doctor Doom, and more, in an upcoming closed beta for the game,' it read. However, this was clearly a mistake on IGN's part, since the description implies both Strange and Spider-Man will be playable in the beta. And while the latter is confirmed to be in the game, neither are present in the beta's announcement trailer. What's more, IGN has since updated the video description to remove any mention of Strange and Spider-Man. As for how this mistake was made, the running theory among fans on Reddit is that the description was AI generated. Although, as one fan points out, Strange could very likely be included in the final roster regardless. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter.
