M&S resumes popular service for first time in over 3 months after major cyber hacking

The high street giant is returning to normal after it was crippled by hackers in April.
M&S is getting back on its feet after it was crippled by cyber hackers earlier in the year. The damaging attack meant that many of its online services had to be halted.

Following the scandal, the beloved high street stalwart halted all purchases and orders that shoppers had made through its website and app back on Friday, April 25.

However, it seems that things are slowly getting back to normal, as the retail giant has officially resumed its Click & Collect service, marking the first time in 15 weeks it has been available for shoppers.

As reported by the BBC, online orders were restarted on June 10, with customers now able to make returns by visiting any M&S store.
Following its temporary pause, customers who had online orders cancelled or delayed during the attack were sent out e-gift cards that could be used online or in-store as a 'thank you' from the retailer.

It's the latest online service to be restored from the company, as its fashion ranges went available to shop online across England, Scotland and Wales back in July.
At the time, Chief Executive Stuart Machin confirmed to shareholders that he expected all services to be returned to normal by August, as it also looked to getting online productions fully back up and running at its main distribution centre at Castle Donnington.
He said: "I have previously highlighted that it would take all of June and all of July, maybe into August [to resume all of its operations].

"Within the next four weeks we are hoping for the whole of online to be fully on. We're hoping that by August we will have the vast majority of this behind us and people can see the true M&S."
The return of M&S' Click and Collect means that all of its online services are officially restored following the firm being the target of a ransomware attack that has been linked to a group known as Scattered Spider.

While the retailer never confirmed the culprit behind the attack, it is believed that the notorious gang employed a hacking tool from DragonForce to scramble its victims' data before demanding a ransom to get the key to unscramble it.
It marked the beginning off a flurry of cyber hacks across the UK high street, with retailers including Co-op and luxury firm Harrods also being target by hackers who tried to access IT systems.

However, the attack on M&S proved to be quite crippling, with the high street favourite taking the biggest hit from attackers, as the incident is said to have lost the firm around an estimated £300 million.
After "temporarily halting" its online systems in April, it was then revealed that personal data had been stolen during the attack, which led to M&S facing a multi-million pound lawsuit from Scots customers who had been affected
It was confirmed that details that had been stolen included telephone numbers, home addresses, dates of birth and online ordering histories of millions of people.
Following police investigation, the National Crime Agency (NCA) then arrested four people - one woman and three men - in connection with the attack.

Pasta Evangelists says it will invest £30 million into new restaurants, creating up to 1,500 jobs. It hopes to open 100 new restaurants across the UK in the next five years, including in the south of England, the Midlands, and Scotland. The company is also aiming to develop a "Pasta Apprenticeship" scheme to attract new staff and help the current workforce develop new skills and knowledge, reports The Grocer. Savelli said: "The demand for our fresh, beautifully cooked artisan pasta is growing. "Our intention is to become the UK's fastest-growing, casual dining hot spot and the hottest place to eat for pasta lovers of all ages. "Sustainable growth has always been our plan. "The hospitality industry is going through tough times at the moment, but we are confident that our business model is robust and dynamic, and the proof of this is we have already bucked the trend with the confirmed opening of five more restaurants in the space of three months, and more to come." Pasta Evangelists enter Dragons Den The chain opened a restaurant in Farringdon, central London, this summer as well as its first outside of the capital in Guildford in July. Three new London locations are set to open in the coming weeks, helping carry the total number of outlets to 11 as we head into autumn. Chancellor Rachel Reeves said the plans were "great news" and highlighted the "dynamism and resilience of British businesses". The restaurant has had a remarkable success story since its Dragons' Den miss. Recalling their appearance on the BBC show, Finn said he was "shaking life a leaf" before walking out to pitch his business. He added that he was left devastated by the business experts' "vicious" comments. Speaking to The Sun in 2023, he said: "I never would have expected to be called a 'disaster' or 'delusional' on national TV - they were vicious things to say to a young entrepreneur. 'To use that kind of language against a young, passionate person was dismaying. I would never talk to any young entrepreneur like that." Despite their lack of faith in the business, the Dragons are no doubt feeling red in the face now as Pasta Evangelists is one of the UK's biggest fresh pasta companies. It has also earned the highest praise from many voices, including chef Gordon Ramsay. SCARRED BY EXPERIENCE ON DRAGONS' DEN While Pasta Evangelists has gone on to huge success, Finn says he's still scarred by his experience in the Den. "We received an extremely strong, negative, visceral reaction," he says. 'I was 24 years old when I went on Dragons' Den, so for a seasoned entrepreneur like Jenny Campbell to call me 'delusional' and a 'disaster' was so vicious... Jenny was savage. 'At one point she said, 'I like it' and I replied, 'Thank you', only for her to say, 'I like it because it's a brilliant business lesson in how not to set up and run a business'. Robert figured out that Owen had an alibi and that John had been to his house the day before he was found dead. But John carefully orchestrated things to discredit Robert in both the villagers' eyes and sister Vic's (Isabel Hodgins) both by portraying him as a scorned ex, and a threat to nephew Harry's safety. Now John just has to worry about the fact that actual, credible evidence is about to come to light. DC Cole puts Cain (Jeff Hordley) on edge when he's told they need to discuss Nate's murder. There is new evidence, which they need to discuss. Cain relays this to John, who is immediately struck with a sense of impending doom. It opens wounds for Cain and Tracy (Amy Walsh), who thought they could put the nature of Nate's death to bed and begin to work through their loss. But a fresh round of questioning reignites the pain. The elusive removal man is finally tracked down and suspicions are raised when Tracy shows him a photo and he doesn't recognise the man – Nate – who supposedly hired him.
