Say Hello to San Francisco's First Women's Sports Bar

Eater4 hours ago

San Francisco's first women's sports bar opens Wednesday, June 11, on Market Street. Rikki's throws open its doors to a city ready for lots of women's basketball; the Golden State Valkyries' inaugural season is underway to huge fanfare. Co-founders Danielle Thoe and Sara Yergovich told the San Francisco Chronicle the name honors Rikki Streicher, a gay San Francisco athlete who opened two now-closed queer women's bars in San Francisco, Maud's and Amelia's.
This opening makes the bar the first in the Bay Area dedicated exclusively to women's sports. Fifteen TVs stretch across the space; pop-up Rikki's parties around the city have brought in some 150 fans per event. There's a full liquor license available, and local beers, including the aptly named Local Brewing Co. on tap, with food available for hungry sports fans, as well. Rikki's is open Tuesday through Sunday from 3:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. on weekdays and until midnight on Friday and Saturday. Sacramento sells tacos to fight fascism
NorCal Resist coordinated a demonstration on Sunday, June 8, in defiance of the federal government's invasion of Los Angeles's immigrant communities. To keep the momentum going, the group will work with Radio Xicanismo for a Tacos & Corridos event on Saturday, July 26, at 2 p.m. Guests will get three tacos with rice and beans for $30 at the Latino Center of Art and Culture. Tickets are on sale now. Another Divisadero Street restaurant suffers from a fire
In an unlucky streak for the vibrant business corridor, Banh Mi Viet closed due to a fire. It broke out around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, and no one was injured. This makes another shutdown on Divisadero Street in recent years; Ethiopian restaurant Oasis Cafe and adjoining Kava Lounge have been closed since a major fire in 2022, as did Phuket on the other end of the strip. Mainstay Berkeley restaurant closes for good
The team behind the beloved El Patio in Berkeley let fans know via Instagram of the restaurant's impending finale: The last day of service will be Friday, July 4. There was no reason given for the closure. More than that, the post says the catering and events arm of the business is still operational.

Nara and Lucky Blue Smith Are Expecting Another Baby—Less Than a Year After Saying They Were ‘Done'

Model and content creator Nara Smith first crossed paths with fellow IMG model Lucky Blue Smith in 2019. Within a year, the two had quietly tied the knot, started a family, and begun building the life that would later turn them into one of TikTok's most recognizable couples. While they've kept many details of their personal lives private, both have occasionally opened up online or in interviews about their relationship, family life, and being in the public eye. Since their wedding in 2020, they've welcomed three children together and amassed a massive following across social media—largely due to Nara's cooking-from-scratch videos, often shot in their home kitchen. Below, a full timeline of their relationship so far. Nara and Lucky met during Milan Fashion Week while both were working as models. Shortly after, Lucky initiated contact by messaging Nara on Instagram. According to the couple, they moved from texting to a seven-hour phone call—and have spoken daily ever since. 'There hasn't been a day since that day that we've not been talking,' Nara shared in an April 2025 Vogue interview. 'I messaged Nara on Instagram, we started texting a little bit, I was very slow at texting,' Lucky revealed in the interview. 'I like to take my time with what I'm going to say.' Nara quipped, 'Five business days?' That fall, they made their relationship public on Instagram. Lucky reportedly proposed to Nara in 2019. Nara later revealed she developed a crush on Lucky years earlier after seeing him appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. 'After we got married I was thinking about our journey and realized that at 15 I saw an Ellen interview with Lucky and had a crush on him but then forgot about it until later 😭,' she wrote in a December 2024 Instagram post. Nara and Lucky got married in a small beach ceremony in California. Nara shared a video from the day captioned, 'I married my best friend today.' The couple welcomed their first daughter, Rumble Honey Smith. Nara shared the news on Instagram with the caption, 'little baby angel Rumble Honey 10/7/20.' Nara gave birth to their second child, a son named Slim Easy. For his birthday the following year, she posted a video of a homemade donut tower to mark the occasion, writing, 'Can't believe how quickly time flies and how I've got a 2-year-old best friend now.' Their third child, daughter Whimsy Lou, was born. Nara announced her arrival on April 11 with a short video captioned, 'Our little angel has arrived!' The couple said they are not planning to have more children. 'Yep, I'm done,' Nara said in a GQ video, echoing Lucky's sentiment. They explained that while they originally envisioned a larger family, three children now feels like the right number. Nara and Lucky attended the Ralph Lauren Spring 2025 show in the Hamptons as part of New York Fashion Week. Lucky walked the runway, and the couple shared a few moments on camera together. Around the same time, they revealed plans to move to the East Coast, explaining in a TikTok video that they're hoping to settle somewhere quieter with more space for gardening and raising their family. Nara posted a throwback clip of Lucky's 2019 proposal to mark their five-year engagement anniversary. In the caption, she reflected on how their life has unfolded since, writing, 'I wish I could tell 18-year-old me just how beautiful life would become.' Nara and Lucky revealed they are expecting their fourth child. In a reel posted to Instagram and TikTok, Nara approached Lucky in a flowing cream blouse and skirt before gently cradling her growing baby bump. Lucky placed a hand on her stomach and kissed it as they smiled toward the camera. 'Our little surprise,' she wrote in the caption, adding 'baby 4 loading...' over the video. The announcement came nearly a year after the couple said they were done having children. They've yet to share how far along Nara is or the baby's gender. This story will be updated.

Cowboys' Micah Parsons fulfills 'good night' promise to coach, reports ahead of minicamp

Cowboys' Micah Parsons fulfills 'good night' promise to coach, reports ahead of minicamp Minicamp for the Cowboys doesn't begin until Tuesday, but superstar edge rusher Micah Parsons got an early head start by showing up for a workout at The Star in Frisco on Monday, just as he had promised his head coach he would. Video of Parsons putting in time on the treadmill and doing some weighted walking lunges made the rounds on social media after it was posted on Instagram by cornerback Trevon Diggs, who was also spotted at the team facility one day before attendance becomes mandatory. Parsons, of course, is still awaiting a contract extension that will likely make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL. He did not participate in voluntary OTAs but had maintained all along that he'd be with the team for minicamp. With his Monday appearance, all indications are he'll be present and accounted for when roll is called Tuesday. Parsons's arrival to start the work week shouldn't come as a surprise, though, since the four-time Pro Bowler had promised as much to head coach Brian Schottenheimer just hours before. Taking part in a recent TikTok trend, the 26-year-old phoned Schottenheimer over the weekend to say "good night." During that call, Parsons told his coach, "Just checking in on you, meant to say good night, hope the fam is well, see you Monday, excited about next week." The conversation turned into a quick impromptu pep talk, with Schottenheimer reassuring Parsons that the contract "is going to get worked out" and reminding him, "We're building something special, and you're going to be a huge part of it." Parsons explained to fans last week that he's never missed a mandatory minicamp, and will be continuing that streak this offseason as he learns a new playbook under first-year defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus. "I'm preparing as if I will be on the field the first week of camp!" Parsons wrote on social media. That part of his post does have some wondering if the former first-round draft pick would hold out of training camp without a contract, and it certainly offers a reminder that he may not be a full-go participant in minicamp, so as to not risk an injury with a high-dollar contract negotiation up in the air. But Parsons is in the building on Monday, handling his business and making it seem like he'll be back in the building to do so again on Tuesday. So he's certainly around for whenever the Cowboys front office decides to meet him halfway and do some business of their own.
