'Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre' cast called by destiny to carry show's legacy, says GMA exec
In Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras," Wednesday, the Kapuso executive said the stars went through the most challenging selection process before finally making it to the official cast.
"Hindi siya normal na casting call. Tawag siya ng destiny kasi hindi lang naman namin pinili 'yung pinakamaganda o pinakamagaling, ang hinahanap namin ay 'yung mga artista na kayang i-continue 'yung legacy at kayang mangalaga ng brilyante sa loob man ng serye o sa labas," she said.
Director Enzo Williams commended the cast for the effort they put in for the project.
"Actually bilib ako sa kanila, to be honest. Bilib ako sa preparations nila on every shooting day na they go to the set," he said.
Overall visual director Rico Gutierrez shared that their goal is to deliver an entertaining project for the audience.
"Ang tahak namin talaga [ay] mabigyan talaga 'yung audience ng isang entertaining na show. Matuwa sila, ma-excite sila sa action, ma-amaze 'yung mga bata sa mga special effects. 'Yun talaga 'yung goal namin," he said.
"Sang'gre" is a spinoff of the iconic Kapuso fantaserye "Encantadia."
It will introduce the newest keepers of the brilyantes: Flamarra (Faith Da Silva), Deia (Angel Guardian), Adamus (Kelvin Miranda), and Terra (Bianca Umali).
"Sang'gre" airs on GMA Network from Mondays to Fridays at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras." You can also watch it online via the Kapuso Stream on YouTube. —Carby Rose Basina/MGP, GMA Integrated News

Rhian Ramos says she was surprised to see Mika Salamanca join 'PBB'
Rhian Ramos said she was surprised when Mika Salamanca joined "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition." Rhian and Mika are co-stars in "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre." The PBB winner plays the character of Anaca, the loyal spay of Rhian's Mitena. 'I'm so surprised na pumasok siya sa Bahay ni Kuya because she was super introverted,' Rhian told GMA News Online in an interview at the sidelines of her contract renewal on Tuesday. "I think it was so brave to do all that and share her authentic self with so many people," she added. 'I'm also an introvert, so I think I really celebrate when an introvert feels open and safe enough. I feel like because she won as a Big Winner, I feel like people really understand her,' Rhian said. Mika was hailed as the first big winner of PBB Collab along with her Kapamilya duo Brent Manalo. Meanwhile, in 'Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre,' Anaca is Mitena's majestic white owl who transforms into a humanoid version. — LA, GMA Integrated News

Mitena freezes Batis ng Katotohanan
The sacred waters of the Batis ng Katotohanan (Ashley Rivera) have fallen silent, encased in ice by Mitena (Rhian Ramos) herself after it refused to answer the question that's been haunting her. On Tuesday's episode of "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre," Mitena demanded the truth after discovering that she had been deceived her about the existence of another powerful living Encantadia aside from herself. The ruthless ice queen demanded to know whether she is the mysterious female warrior haunting her dreams. When the Batis refuses to answer, Mitena unleashes her icy might, and with a wave of her scepter Esperanto, she freezes the Batis ng Katotohanan, halting its truths in a translucent stillness. But Mitena's thirst for truth doesn't stop there. Even with Batis ng Katotoganan immobilized, she coerces Imaw into revealing the elusive Book of Akashic. However, Imaw confesses the manuscript has long been lost, or so he claims. In truth, he secretly ordered the book hidden to safeguard Encantadia's deepest secrets, preserving them from exposure. Meanwhile, in the mortal realm, Terra (Bianca Umali) saved Cami (Pam Prinster), her bully, from assailants. "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre" airs on GMA Network from Mondays to Fridays at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras." Rhian Ramos recalls time she almost quit showbiz
Rhian Ramos revealed that she once came close to leaving the entertainment industry entirely. According to Nelson Canlas' report on '24 Oras' Tuesday, Rhian started her TV career with 'Captain Barbel,' followed by more of her memorable projects like 'Lalola,' 'Ilumina,' 'Stairway to Heaven," and more. The Kapuso actress shared that GMA Network has witnessed her entire adulthood journey. 'Literally wala akong isang kahit isang adult experience na hindi ako Kapuso. All of the officers of the network are my family and this network has even seen me at my worst. So, for me, it's such an honor to be able to promise the network that I'm going to give them nothing but my best from now on,' she said. However, her tenure in showbiz led to what Rhian described as a 'love-hate relationship' with her work. 'There was a time that I almost quit,' she admitted. 'I think when you do any job or anything for a long time, I think there is a point na nagiging love-hate relationship. May mga times na inspired ka naturally kasi magaganda 'yung role or whatever, may mga times din na parang napapagod ka din and parang gusto ko gumawa ng something bago.' During this period of contemplation, Rhian considered pursuing business. 'More on business where I felt like 'yung value ko would be different. Siyempre nauso din ang bashing 'di ba? When there are so many people looking at you and they have negative things to say, they could really break your heart and rip you to pieces with their words,' she said. Rhian just renewed her contract with the Kapuso network on Tuesday. Present at the contract signing were GMA Network President and Chief Executive Officer Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr., Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Felipe S. Yalong, GMA Network Senior Vice President for Programming, Talent Management, Worldwide, and Support Group Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, GMA Network Officer-In-Charge for Entertainment Group and Vice President for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy, and Rhian's manager Michael Uycoco. 'Nagpapasalamat tayo. The loyalty is so deeply appreciated. 'Yung kaniyang walang patid na pagtitiwala sa GMA and how she's evolved into one of the finest actress of her time, all of these are things that make us all very happy, so nagpapasalamat tayo sa kaniya,' Duavit said. 'I'm so happy for Rhian and I hope she would continue to flourish 'yung career niya with GMA and we're behind her,' Yalong said. 'I've seen her growth as an actress, in fact she's one of our best actresses now. Napakagaling niya, napaka-talented, and I'm very, very happy na she has stayed with us all these years,' Valdes said. Rhian currently stars in 'Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre' as Mitena. —Carby Rose Basina/CDC, GMA Integrated News
