New Restaurant Finds In Miami

Forbes02-04-2025

In terms of Miami dinning, both South Beach and Wynwood continue to be steady magnets for new restaurants. However, the iconic South Beach location seems to be a place where it is hard to create a concept that appeals to both locals and tourists. Wynwood, on the other hand, just seems to ramp up in terms of the new restaurant action with its hip vibe and 1980s NYC-like graffiti feel.
These new finds range from high-end Chinese to comfort food and Latin and Asian fusion. Most offer some stunning seafood dishes: both cooked and crudo versions.
South Beach
This iconic neighborhood stills comes out swinging sometimes. One prime example is Sweet Liberty, a restaurant that has been around for almost a decade, and is still killing it with visitors and locals alike as a go-to location with excellent cocktails and satisfying food.
It's loud and fun, without being in your face. It's a favored destination for everyone in the 'hood and cooks up some great, satisfying bar food with style. Naren Young, the fabulous Australian bartender is the creative director of this bar and is knocking it out of the ballpark.

Oysters, great cocktails and some indulgent sandwiches: sign me up. In fact Sweet Liberty even offers up a cocktail that is one of the best imitations of a Greek salad, simply built in the glass. Yes, you get that feta flavor and tang: no idea how they do it. What is more, Sweet Liberty is open late.

Down the street, Mimi's Chinese has opened with the support of its Canadian chef who has an outpost in Toronto. Downtown Miami has very few serious Chinese food offerings so Mimi's was a very welcome gift. It's high-end and beautifully presented Chinese that might be too much for casual Chinese food lovers. Mimi focuses on the whole-head fish and hand-pulled noodles tableside which are a joy to watch in action. The shrimp toast were great, as well as the Five Spice Negroni.
Dim Sum at Novikov Miami.

The Brickell area is tough to get to and you have to want to be there. But some restaurants are worth showing up for and Novikov is one of them. While the menu can be complicated, the base dishes are good. They range from a refreshing cucumber salad to some nice crudos and sashimi presentations. The boy choy is super crunchy and the duck was amazingly lean.
Some Wynwood and Happy Hour Venues
Chimba is a new Argentine restaurant is Wynwood, offering diverse flavors from South America. I tend to go Argentine in these types of restaurants and always love a good empanada, the ribeye version was splendid here. The breaded beef, topped with an egg, was also delicious (although I would prefer it without the egg). There are also some interesting, and lesser-known, Argentine wines on this list such as such as El Enemico Cabernet Franc from high-altitude vineyards in Mendoza, Argentina.
The patio is large and welcoming at Blue Collar.

I also discovered two places for great restaurant vibes and views. The sprawling patio at Blue Collar in Wynwood is delightful for a drink and a snack with fun dishes that speak of the South such as jambalaya and shrimp n'grits.
Zaytinya, Jose Andres' restaurant in the Ritz- Carlton on South Beach, has a magnificent location. Its terrace has astounding views of the beach and some interesting Greek wine selections and the Middle Eastern-influenced dips are good.

Fat Joe and Jadakiss hosted a Father's Day luncheon at Sei Less NYC on Wednesday afternoon (June 11) for 70 fathers and their families who have been impacted by the criminal justice system. The Joe & Jada podcast co-hosts shared words of wisdom and traded stories with the families on hand while munching on an array of delectable Asian fusion dishes at the Manhattan staple. 'A lot of kids grew up, parents used drugs and parents in jail and all that — the fact that I had my father, a real leader in my household, and working and always kept me focused on the right things,' Joe said of his relationship with his father. 'Kiss reflected on the importance of helping reintegrate those who were incarcerated back into productive members of society. 'Just hitting that switch to let them know that they can come back and get right due to whatever hardships they went through,' Jada said. 'There's some hope now when you come back to get readjusted. Hopefully change your financial situation.' Joe also implored fathers who have fractured relationships with their kids to reconnect. 'Reconnect with your kids because sometimes kids can get bitter their parents were away in jail,' Joe added. 'You gotta find that bond. It's always there, but you gotta find that red tape to get in sync.' He continued: 'Start now. Forget if you messed up the last 10, 20, 30 years. Start now to be a productive father and get your relationship with your kids. … On New Year's everyone want to lose weight; I think Father's Day should be an adjustment with you and your kids.' Joe and Jadakiss hosted the event in collaboration with Sei Less co-founder Dara Mirjahangiry and the REFORM Alliance, ensuring that this Father's Day these families had something to celebrate. 'Working with Fat Joe, Jadakiss and REFORM to celebrate these fathers at Sei Less was truly special,' Mirjahangiry said. 'Ahead of Father's Day, we really wanted to shine a light on these fathers who have been impacted by the criminal justice system and support their re-entry journey with compassion. It was a powerful way to bond through culture, community and cuisine.' These are the most popular Irish baby names for boys and girls

Naming your baby is a big deal. Seriously. Once you've locked the title in, there's no going back. Unless you're Kylie Jenner, that is. Which means new parents or parents-to-be often spend ages going back and forth on potential ideas, trying to agree on the perfect name for the newest addition to their family. These days, picking a name isn't as simple as it was when your mum, gran, or great-gran were naming their kids, either. There's less pressure to pass down titles to keep them in the family, and more of a focus on creativity. From seasonal to traditional to vintage to geographical, it's also popular to give a nod to your heritage, too. With that being said, if you're looking for the perfect Irish baby name, we've got you. Whether popular in Ireland or traditionally Irish, we scoured the data provided by the Central Statistics Office to see which names, for both boys and girls, are big hitters right now. The list of most popular baby names in Ireland is currently a mix of names with English origins, Irish origins, and Latin origins, so we've also sought out some well-known and more unique Irish names for you to browse for inspiration too. Good luck! Some Irish names can be a challenge for people to pronounce if they're unfamiliar with Gaelic (and, as we all know, there's nothing worse than having somebody butcher your, or your child's, name). So, with that in mind, we asked our good pal Brooke Scullion, a bona fide Derry girl, to lend a hand with how to correctly say some traditional Irish names (which are also listed below).
